She wasn’t gone.
Why wasn’t she? Her body was already starting to run cold.
Why did she have to linger, watching her assaulter ruin everything?
She still followed out of the morbid curiosity lingering. It took the captain and the gun.
Was the intern already dead? She felt horrible.
She felt a whisper crawl up her spine.
He was dead.
But he was right next to her in spirit. It was a small comfort, yet she took what she was offered.
They held each other for a while, not saying anything. The quiet comforted her soul.
It was just them.
