Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Here she was... The short woman with blond hair and brown eyes... Ready to act with her team standing behind her. One of her men was sent to give a signal once everything was good to go on.

She smirks as she moves away from her hiding spot. The others follow her moves as she rushes inside the building.

Everything was so dark and quiet. No guards could bother her and her goal. Stealing the big shining diamond standing at the center of a big room full of random paintings.

"Finally... After all this time, I can have my hands on it." She whispers in delight as she watches two experts removing the glass protecting the jewel. When the shield was put away she got out a purse at the size of the diamond and made an exchange with its place.

The blue sapphire was now held in her small hands. She stared at its beauty while getting praised by her colleague who was silently cheering for success.

"You should not be stargazing or cheering now.... Bad things could happen~" This moment would of course be interrupted by the only person who would always block her path of succession.

The devil himself, know for being the most territorial toon in the town. "𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐨 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐰." The woman said the name of her enemy with venom has securely hidden the jewel deeper in her purse. While her man was on guard with pointed guns at the demon. The woman held the purse tightly to her chest. "I won't let you have what I worked so hard to get!" She glanced at a direction with anger rising inside her.

"Of course... I know how much you have spent your time getting a speech on a good plan and being here today for the opportunity to take this precious away~" His voice sounded quite close to her. She frowns as she moves one of her hands over her hips to get the holster of her gun off. She was going to use her silver revolver in case something got bad. "The problem here is... I was planning this before you toots. So ya better hand it over to me or my mobs kill yours." He warned that two pairs of gloved hands came in front of her view. The darkness was his element and not hers. She frowned at the fact he was again stealing the stuff she got from her hard work. Everytime it was the same scenario. But this time it was going to change. She smiled and gave a glance to her boys. They understand her look and immediately lower their guns. "Of course... I don't want my boys to get killed because of me." She pretends to sound annoyed like usual as she starts to move her purse over to the gloved hands. Once in them the devil chuckled and showed himself under the light.

"Great! Well it was not that hard was it?" He smugly said as he waved the purse in front of the short woman's face. The mistake he just made was to annoy her more. Only if he knew she had not fully given it to him. "Yeah yeah... Let's go boys. We lost again.." She mumbled as she gave them a sign to follow her out of the building. With her back turned to her enemy a big smile would slowly form. She never thought this would have worked so easily.

Back in their car, they headed home.

"Boys I am so proud of you all!" The lady boss cheered them as she got the blue saphire out from her chest. She was very amazed and proud of how the plan went so well. She never thought the devil himself would fall for it.

"Boss lady, you were amazing back there!" One of them started to say. "Yeah! The way to swap the real with the false one was genius!" They all were complimenting the plan their boss had made. Which results in her standing up on her seat and rubbing a finger under her nose with confidence. "Thank you, thank you my dearest! Let's all go have fun at a bar!" Everyone in the car got excited and cheered for this news. It's been a while they all went to a bar after all the hard work they were doing.

Once the jewel was put in safety, the group went to the popular bar now known as Moon's bar.

Inside this place, it always seems to be the one a lot of people go to. Mafia gang or not. It would bring some joy and would immediately get people to not be stressed out. Except if there's a fight starting inside. Which never happens. This place was very well respected with its rules. Because this bar of course belongs to a mafia boss. No one knew his name. He was known for being cruel if you get on his bad side. No one would dare to get in touch with him. Maybe some would dare like Benicio drew himself.

After all, the demon was also known to be very strong if he is mad.

"Hey Tris! It's been such a long time since you paid a visit here!" Said the well known bartender moon man. He seemed to be glad to see a familiar face. The woman called over the counter with pure delight. "Hello Moony! It has been a while since I saw you!" She was quickly getting a chat with the young stressed man who was also impatient to talk back with her.

Her mobs went to sit around the place and enjoy their time. They knew nothing bad would happen inside.

They were safe for tonight.

"You know for a second I thought you had forgotten about me.." Moon man sadly said while he cleaned up a glass with a rag cloth. Tris gasped and put her hands on her cheeks. "How could I forget about you Moony!? You're one of the best friends I have around!" She slammed her hands on the counter and leaned closer to his face. "I could never forget about you!" She looked serious. Moon man backed up a little at the sudden move she made. He even blushed a little. "R-Right... You could never forget about me, I said a silly thing." He mumbled embarrassed.

The woman chuckles at his cute behavior. She took a glance at the stage where musicians would be playing their instruments to set an ambiance. She watches them for a moment as she plays with the edge of her own glass full of scotch.

It has been so long since she had to drink alcohol. She was glad to get the feeling of how burning it was for her throat when she first had drank a hard one. She remembers that old time where Henry Stein, the one she called uncle, almost had a heart attack when he saw her drink a full bottle of whiskey without having any problem. She smiled a little. She missed the old man, just like with Joey drew as well. Those two were like the grandpa that would cheer her up and take care of her until she was able to take care of herself. Even if the tragic event had happened. Henry went missing while Joey was found dead in a street of the town. It was such a tragedy she did not leave her own room in her mansion for a while. She could not believe this had happened. She even thought that maybe this was a prank. It hurts so much when you learn this is the actual truth and nothing could be changed from it once it's done. After that, she decided to become strong for the two men she respected and admired. She had become one of the first Lady to be a mob boss. People got to know her in the newspaper for being intelligent and very skilled. Despite this, she would always lose to a certain demon. 'Tristana Butterfly' was always written big in the newspaper, as in small capital would be the name she got for her gang. 'Maniacs boy's', it was not bad for a name dedicated to her mobs. Since after all she has most of them acting like psychopaths with anyone but sweet with their boss. Like she was a sister, a mom or an aunt to them. She found this quite touching and adorable of them to treat her like a part of their family. Even if before they first met everything was not 'la vie en rose' at all.

The entrance door of the bar made the woman snap out of her mind. She glanced at it and froze on her seat. She never thought to see him twice on the same day. She quickly looked away to her boys, who were too busy telling jokes or drinking their own drinks. Half of them were already drunk, which means they could get in trouble out of the bar... She will have to find a way to distract the demon or they could wait for the demon and his sidekick to go. She found it kinda weird he was there with only one of his mobs having company for the night. 'Does this mean he knows about the fake jewel he has gotten?' She thought with a bit of stress forming. She never thought she would actually get nervous when she saw him. Mostly it was always anger or being annoyed by him.

The demon and his sidekick Boris the wolf, took a seat on the stools right next to Tristana's one. This means it could be a bad sign for her. She even thought that she may go to one of her mobs to be at least safe. She knows she can defend herself. After all, someone did teach her some tactics to defend herself in case she was in a bad move.

"Hey moon, Can ya get me some whiskey there?"Benicio said as he put one of his arms on the wooden counter. Boris ordered after him after he greeted Moon man, who quickly responded by making their orders right away. Since the bartender was now busy. Tristana could not use him as a way to excuse herself to flee this situation. Just as her luck was very small for her. The wolf had noticed her. He gave her a bow of his head gently as he talked to Benicio calmy. She was a little shocked that he did not give her a menacing look or even make a comment. She blinked and took a sip of her drink as she focused on something else. She prefers not to show any weakness in front of these two.

But she can't help but eavesdrop onto their conversation.

"Boris, is it weird to say that I kinda feel... Something for her?"

"I don't think it's weird if you have a feeling of love toward a woman.. Why do you ask that?"

"Well uh... Ya know every time I see her face.. The way she looks at me, it makes me want to see more of it. I can't even stop looking at the way she moves..."

"Sounds like you are in love or maybe you're in heat.."

The wolf snicker has him wondering who that woman Bendy would have felt for. Even Tristana was curious about it. It could be an advantage to take her hostage. She already had the plan played out in her mind. She would see how miserable he would look and even beg her to spare the lady's life in exchange for some money. It would be fun to see that actually happen.

"Of course I am... But every time we meet I don't know how to act and it always results in her leaving me."

He sounded confronted with himself for making that kind of mistake. Man... Always messing up by accident when it comes to true love. She sighs as she puts down her half glass.

"Bendy... May I ask who that woman is? I never saw you being like that since you were a kid."

'When he was a kid? Aww... Did he have a crush at that time? That's cute!' The blond woman thought she noticed the moon man listening to the conversation as well while he swept the floor with a broom. She never thought he would eavesdrop too. Well you never know since he is a bartender he must have a habit to do this with his customers.

"Promise me you won't be mad or laugh at me about it.."

"Sure, I promise to not do that. Except if it is necessary."

It was going to be interesting while the woman took a sip of her drink. She was going to be on the top soon.

"It's... It's Tristana."

Boris flinched at that name. While the name of the woman was said she almost spit her drink out.

"Are you serious? Her? I thought you two were enemies?" He sounded confused about his friend's choice. Benicio shook his head as he one shot drank his drink. "No, I am not kidding... Even if me and her look and act like enemies. I enjoy our interactions." He admits he ordered another drink from Moon man.

Tristana decided it was best to flee now than get spotted by the two. Even when Boris had acknowledged her before. Moon man was even surprised to hear that. He was even going to tell Benicio that she was right there. But he got a warning glare from the short woman. She went to the bathroom to clear her mind from what she just heard. "I can't believe he would love me. I thought we both were like enemies!" She sighs and splashes water on her face to clean it. She was lucky to not have makeup on her face. She wiped the water off with the help of the towel hanging next to her. "I should have noticed with his behavior that he was in love with me.. Those deep red eyes of his... I must have seen them before.. But when?" She was questioning herself for remarking this only now. She had known little about this demon toon. Yet it only been like a year or two they would quarrel like children for the treasure they put their hands on.

She shook her head and decided to get out of the bathroom. She opened the door and almost gasped when she was face to face with Benicio. The two stare at each other for a moment. Until the demon moves out of the way to let the woman pass. She took the opportunity to rush to one of her mob's members. The devil watches her go before he enters the bathroom. It was his turn to wonder for himself if falling in love with his enemy was a good thing.

Tristana huffed as she got to a table. Which brings the attention to the three men playing cards. One of the three was concerned and was the first to ask her. "Are you alright?" He asked curiously. She would respond with a nod as she sat down on the empty chair. "Yes, totally fine. I was just getting bored by myself.. I decided to just come on this table and bother you three!" She assured them with a fake smile on her face. The three men's look at each other and shrugged. "If it's what our boss lady wants to do... Wanna play cards?"

Now the four are playing a game of cards. It at least went on for over two hours to get a winner on who would empty their cards. As a result, Tristana would have won it. She made a suspicious note that her boys might have got tired of trying to win this party and prefer to stay down instead of truly wanting to continue.

"Damn... I never thought Miss butterfly would be strong in that game.."

"I agree... I need a drink."

"Let's go get one then, want one as well boss lady?" The three stared at her as they were getting up to move to the counter.

"Oh... Sure! Get me a strong one please boys! I'll wait here." She answered as she mixed the pile of cards on her hands and started to play a solitaire game with them. The three understand and leave to get the order.

She was happy to have them around. At least those three would not judge her or bother to keep asking what was wrong until they got a true answer.

She was focused on her game without noticing she was being watched by someone.
