Summary:

This series is BACK!!!! This time, I'm taking requests.

TSAMS oneshots, mainly focused on the Celestial Twins. Because sometimes all you need is our two favourite sillies to get into random shenanigans.

Chapter Text

Hello everyone! I've decided to resurrect this lil oneshots book that seemed to do well last time. (If you haven't yet, go check the other one out!)

I will be choosing a total of 7 story requests.  (For now)

Here are some fancy shmancy rules:

1. Please no ships/romance. I'm not going to even attempt that 😭

2. Be polite and supportive of others ideas.

3. I will write both fluff and angst (SO BRING IT ON!!!!)

4. No self/reader insert, please and thank you.

5. Updates might be slow, I have a busy schedule, but I'll try to keep it steady.

*Credit (username) will be displayed in the notes/summary of each oneshot.

RAAAAAAAA

Any sensitive topics/themes will have warnings posted in the notes/summary.

UPDATE: Requests are back open! BRING EM ON PEOPLE >_<

Note: Folks who didn't get their request written the first time will be written, I just had to put a cap on how many I can write at a time. I'm still unsure if I should keep making these request pages every seven chapters, or to leave it as just the one I have now. Let me know which sounds easier.

Chapter Text

If you're reading this on any other platform than AO3, this work has been stolen.

Sun sat in the corner of the bed, quivering like a leaf and holding himself. His head spun and his whole body ached like he'd been electrocuted. He whimpered fearfully, looking around the bedroom with wide, tired eyes.

Eventually, Sun will have backed himself into a corner, that action making him feel somewhat safer. He can that way see anything trying to get him.

Moon stands in the doorway, watching Sun in major distress. Every time Sun whined in pain, Moon's heartstrings were pulled. But he could approach Sun

Sun suddenly flinched, having noticed Moon's form in the doorway. He started shaking more, a fearful look in his usually joyful blue eyes. He didn't like how close Moon was, and he didn't want him to be any closer

Moon stood in the doorway of the room, observing Sun from afar with worry in his eyes. He ached to rush into the room, but he feared he'd only make things worse. It didn't help that seeing Sun so afraid and pained was like a dagger to his heart. It was so difficult to see him like this, but he wasn't sure if he could really help in any way. All he could do is wait.

Sun pushed himself further into the corner, still cowering in fear. He hugged his legs close, still trembling fiercely in a way that was heartbreaking. He whimpered, clearly distressed. But he wasn't whimpering because of his illness, that much Moon could figure out. It was more than what met the eye; for some reason, Sun was terrified.

Moon couldn't know what this was, and he couldn't get close enough to plug into Sun's head

He assumed it was either somehow strictly mentally related or a virus, even possibly both.

Moon tried to speak up to his terrified twin brother, "Hey...Sun, Sunny..-"

Sun's head shot up at the sound of his name and a gasp left his mouth.

"Don't- don't call me that! Don't come any closer...!"

He hugged his legs tighter. Sun was still shaking, and he looked like he was fighting back panicked tears. He was on the verge of a mental breakdown because of this.

That hit Moon like a truck. Sun always loved that nickname that only Moon called him.

Sun didn't understand it. He didn't understand why Moon calling him that sent chills down his spine. But it did, and the sound of that pet name was like listening to nails run down a chalkboard to him.

That name, that dreadful name, is the one Moon used while he purposely tortured and tormented him years ago, yet it seemed like it still had that traumatic effect.

Moon was extremely worried now, Sun had never acted out like this since they separated.

"P-Please. Just stay over there... Don't come any closer."

Sun begged, but his own voice shook with fear.

Moon took a deep, shaky breath and asked,

"Okay- okay, I-im not gonna hurt you, Sun. It's just me- are you feeling okay right now?"

Sun shuddered, his body quaking and shivering as if he was freezing. The fear in his eyes only grew at hearing his old pet name. Then he heard Moon speak again, and this time he actually registered the question.

"N-No, I feel terrible... H-Help me, please. M-My head... It feels fuzzy and I can't see straight. O-Or stand. I can't stand."

"Y-you want help? But I can't come to see you..."

Sun's eyes widened at the suggestion, and he leaned back further in the corner, trying to get away without even moving.

"NO, d-don't! Please, d-don't move! Please don't come any closer. I-I'll be fine, r-really."

Sun looked so pathetic, so small and so scared. It was unnatural.

Moon's eyes shot open as he jumped back, lowering himself to seem less intimidating.

"Okay, it's okay. I think I know what's going on now. So, it's okay Sun..."

Sun continued shaking, his breathing shaky and his shoulders rising and falling in rapid breaths. He was still terrified, staring at Moon with wide eyes and a shaky figure. Yet at the same time, there was a look of helplessness in Sun's eyes, as if he didn't understand what was happening to him.

"O-Okay... What's happening...? I d-don't..." Sun's voice trailed off, replaced with fearful mumbles.

Moon's heart broke "Okay- so, you probably aren't in the proper state of mind to remember this.. but you do have schizophrenia. So, my guess is that you're having a bit of an episode, a-and this memory relapse is probably the adding of a stressful day.."

Sun listened intently, although fear was still dominating his expression. A look of recognition briefly passed over his face, as if he was trying to remember something.

"I-I don't... I don't remember...no, no, no I don't- you're..-" Sun's voice shook, the fearful stuttering continuing as he sat in the corner of the room. He looked around the room nervously, like he thought something would jump out at him any second.

-Sun not remembering things correctly, or in this case, at all, unfortunately reminded Moon of the days when Eclipse still took over.

"I know bud, I know it hurts, and it's bad, and it really hurts me that you're not letting me near you right now, you know I'd never hurt you....right?"

Sun looked at Moon with a look that was a mixture of fear and guilt. He didn't understand why his mind was so scared of Moon getting close to him, but he was too afraid to override the fear.

"I-I know that, but- but I'm scared... I d-don't-"

Sun suddenly cut himself off with a sharp whimper, a shaky hand clutching his head.

Moon was just barely keeping himself from collapsing just from watching Sun

"I know, Sun, I know. Its okay, just breath okay? I'm here if you need me"

Sun closed his eyes tight, his body beginning to shake violently. He looked like he was fighting back tears, and he clutched his head in his hands. He whined, a soft, hurt sound coming from him as he tried to hold back his rising emotions.

"M-My head... It hurts so bad... P-Please, please make it stop..."

Moon was teary-eyed just watching Sun, who was also on the brink of a panic attack.

"Can....I come over to you? I'm going to try and fix this..okay?"

Sun looked like he was going to tell Moon to stay away again, but he couldn't get the words through the pain in his voice. He let out another whimper, and hesitantly nodded his head. He couldn't take this much longer, and he was tired of being afraid of Moon.

Moon was presuming that this entire ordeal was the result of pent up emotions, overwhelming feelings, and violent urges. The whole memory relapse didn't help the situation.

Though, with Sun's consent, Moon sighed in relief as he slowly made his way over to Sun. Something strange happened, as soon as Moon had his hands on Sun, Sun felt soothed immediately.

Sun then felt an immediate calm overtake him. His shoulders relaxed and he let out a shaky breath, his body beginning to stop shaking after a moment. He slowly unfurled himself from around his legs, now letting his knees rest at his sides. After a moment, he slowly opened his eyes to look at Moon.

"mmhn?"

Moon let out an exhale, somewhere between a breath and a sigh of relief. He chuckled slightly, Sun's calm mumbles soothing his metaphorical heart.

"Yes, I'm here, bud, Can you hear me?"

Moon was knelt down in front of Sun, his hands on the sides of his face. He smiled, his face gentle and free of malice.

Moon felt relieved as Sun's eyes met his. He tried to keep his smile from shaking, hoping to help his twin stay calm. He gently held the sides of Sun's head, rubbing his thumbs over his cheeks in a soothing way.

"Can you talk, buddy, or is that too much? Maybe nod and shake your head?"

-As Sun nodded, Moon felt more relieved, although he was still concerned. This didn't look like just a normal episode... Something was wrong, and Sun was disoriented and scared during it for some reason. But he couldn't figure out why.

Moon nodded with him, keeping his voice slow and soft. He gently lifted up one of Sun's hands, holding it in his own and giving it a comforting squeeze.

"Alright. Just answer what I ask simply. You're having an episode, okay? Can you remember what that means?"

Chapter Text

If you're reading this on any other platform than AO3, this work has been stolen.

Moon had Sun's arm slung over his shoulders, helping him walk, the sooner they got out of there, the better. Monty and Solar were following right behind.

They could hear Nexus freaking out in the temporary astral-invented force field.

Then he stopped. Moon guessed Ruin or Dark Sun found him. Moon highly doubted that Nexus survived, but that just meant they didn't have too much time to work with.

Now it was quiet, only the sound of Moon's artificial breathing could be heard. Moon's gaze slowly drifted towards Sun, who looked like he was on the brink of a mental breakdown, Moon's eyes scanned over any and all injuries. Moon pulled Sun closer subconsciously, keeping him in good range.

Sun would be so happy with him when he was in better condition, Moon organized this "Trap Nexus and Grab Sun" plan, and he was honestly surprised it worked.

Instead of immediately running into a rescue mission by himself like he usually does, Moon actually asked for some backup, knowing Nexus was going to be there and most likely was not going to give Sun up that easy.

Moon called Monty up and brought Solar as well.

Currently, Monty's presence was clear, they were standing guard and protecting the twins, just in case you-know-who survived and wanted a second serving.

This small action made Moon tense up, however his focus was still on Sun. Solar was also close by, even his mere presence was also making Moon uncomfortable.

Sun's head was held low, running on barely any power and he probably took a few blows to the head while in the hands of Nexus. There was oil leaking from his side that Moon had made a quick work of patching.

Moon didn't like anyone near Sun right now. Moon's head darted around like a cat, tracing any raw sounds and looking for any and all possible dangers around him that he could protect Sun from.

Moon's gentle reassurance to Sun was something that came naturally to him. He held Sun close, trying his best to reassure both himself and Sun of their safety.

"Everything's okay now Sunny. I'm here- you're safe..."

Moon's soothing voice was only ever reserved for Sun and Sun alone. No one else deserved it as much as his brother,.who never gave up on him.

Sun wasn't moving fast enough here, Moon knew it wasn't his fault and didn't blame him in the slightest, but Sun would be an easy target if they kept this up.

Moon knew that carrying the unconscious Sun back home would be difficult, but that didn't deter him. He was determined to get Sun back safely, no matter what it took.

He slowly rose to his feet, still holding Sun in his arms. His grip on Sun was firm and protective, but careful and gentle as to not cause any further harm to the practically unconscious animatronic.

Upon hearing Sun give small protests, Moon immediately felt a pang of concern. He gently caressed Sun's arm, trying to offer some reassurance. "I know, I'm sorry, it's okay Sunny..." He whispered, trying to soothe the other who was still unaware of the current situation.

Moon's focus then shifted to the portal back to their home dimension.

Much to the Moon's luck and dismay, the portal was being finicky, and he didn't trust it. Neither did Solar or Monty.

After a bit of contemplating, Moon settled on their best option available. Moon took Sun's hand gently and attempted to use Sun's magic ability to stabilize the portal back home.

As Moon felt the energy and magic that coursed through Sun, even in this state. With an unwavering determination, Moon tapped into Sun's power, using it to stabilize the portal and make it safer for them to cross.

The twins, Solar and Monty all crossed the portal, they thankfully emerged back into their home dimension alive...and together..and in one piece.

Moon practically kicked the door down when they arrived back at the house. He maneuvered around Lunar, Jack, and Dazzle, who Moon tried to sheid Sun from, he knew Dazzle would be extremely worried, even if she was a kid.

"okay, okay- Uhm..." Moon muttered to himself as he quickly moved towards the living room couch, noticing the good lighting in the room. Initially, his first instinct was to go to his own bedroom, but remembered that the lights were broken in there.

After setting his brother down, making sure he was awake and active, Moon began to look Sun over, assessing the extent of the damage and injuries he had sustained.

...

"I'm guessing you're not leaving anytime soon?" Sun's voice was a little shaky and still on edge, despite having been safe back at home for a few hours now.

Moon laughed in response to Sun's comment, his arms wrapping tighter around him as he pulled him closer.

"You know me too well, Sunny. I'm not letting go anytime soon. You're stuck with me for the next 24 hours, at least."

Moon smiled, cuddling into Sun, making sure he was comfortable. He let out a content sigh, enjoying the feeling of having his brother close to him.

"Because I'm not letting you go until I'm sure you're completely okay. And even then..."

...

Moon has had days like this before.

They had been together since the very beginning, their programming intricately linked and their relationship cemented over decades of shared experiences.

Sure, Moon had had those days when he wanted to be social. Others when he wanted to hide in his room.

Then there are these circumstances when he will refuse to leave Sun's side. Moon is not always physically affectionate during these times, but when he is, he's extremely cuddly.

These typically occur after a traumatic event, but even sometimes they're just out of nowhere.

A great example being, rescuing Sun from the hands of Nexus.

Nexus.

The thought of him made Moon feel unsafe, but at the same time disgusted. Nexus lived in the same house as Sun, just the two of them.

Like he was trying to completely erase Moon from Sun's memory.

But this whole Wither Shard thing was just pathetic.

And scary.

Definitely scary.

But unlike Nexus, Moon loved Sun to death (literally)

So he would make sure this time. He wouldn't run, and he was right there if Sun needed him.

Any second of the day.

And the best way to do that was to never let him leave your sight until you made sure he was okay!

...

"I'm sorry I wasn't there to stop Nexus"

Moon's voice was soft as he spoke, knowing that Sun was too far asleep to hear him. He gently ran his fingers through his brother's rays, continuing.

"I should've been able to prevent it... or at least stop it sooner. You wouldn't have gotten hurt if I was there..."

Sun shuffled around a bit, Moon's breath hitched when he heard him try to speak.

Moon's expression softened as he heard Sun's soft groan, relieved even. He finally got to ask what had happened, also have someone to talk to, Moon had just been watching Sun sleep. He gently placed his hand on Sun's shoulder, kind of feeling around for him in the dark.

"Sun, can yo-"

"...Mhnmoon? I....Nexus...what the hell?"

He hated with every fiber of his existence that Nexus has the same voice as him, he knew he used it against Sun in one way or another.

Moon felt around for Sun's hand blindly, before cautiously grabbing it with his own.

"Sun, hey...hi...hi" A genuine smile crept into his face as Sun squeezed his hand back.

Once Sun registered where he was, who he was with, and the time of day...or should I say night, he practically dived into Moon's arms.

No words were needed at this moment. Moon wrapped his arms around Sun fully, holding him close against him.

"Alright, cuddles it is then."

...

Morning soon approached and the sound of Earth knocking on the door woke them both. Moon stirred slightly, still wrapped around Sun, not wanting to let go. He opened his bleary eyes, looking towards the door just as Earth peeked her head into the living room.

Earth stepped into the area, walking closer to the couch where the twins lay. "Hey you two, how was the night?"

Moon looked over at Earth, his grip around Sun loosened a bit but still kept him close. He yawned sleepily, running a hand over his hat.

"It was... fine. We both slept alright. But I'm not letting him out of my sight today."

He pulled Sun closer to emphasize his point, as if daring Earth to try and separate them.

Earth threw her hands up in innocence as she moved along to the kitchen. "Fine by me."

She then stopped to add one more thing,

"Just don't hover over him, it might make him feel inclosed."

Earth turned on her heel after getting confirmation from Moon.

Sun's eyes were still closed as he was pulled by Moon again.

Sun sat himself up, letting Moon's arms fall back onto the couch. In a small panic, Moon felt around, when he didn't find Sun, he was all set to go kill someone. Upon opening his eyes like a civilized animatronic, however, he realized Sun was right there.

"You- you can't....I thought you were taken agai!! Let me- I...ugggghh Sun" Moon was at a lost for words, he wasn't mad at him, just relieved. Desperately.

Moon's pout faded as he felt Sun's hand on his head, combing through his hat, smoothing out the creases in the fabric. He couldn't help but smile at the affectionate gesture, his eyes closing in mild contentment.

"You are a literal cat, Moon."

"You're just stalling... you know that, right?" Moon shot back, in mock offence.

"Your hat is pretty." Sun pointed out, tracing the stars in it.

Jesus, his mood really did flip like a coin. Moon was a bit taken aback, and rather confused to say the least. No smart remark from Sun..?

"Nexus really did a number on you. You're delusional."

"Say what you want to say. But no diagnostic check right now. I need to feed the cats." Sun said, standing up, leaving Moon to fall backwards.

He immediately recovered and stood up, following Sun, all while trying not to look too desperate.

"I'm coming with you"

Chapter Text

If you're reading this on any other platform than AO3, this work has been stolen.

Sun should be back by now. He was supposed to be done with the daycare.

After a while, Moon had stopped helping, Sun was happy to take over and cover for him.

He always was. Sun always listened to him without a doubt.

Moon lay on the makeshift bed in his small room, he told Sun that he wanted space. It was dark. Just the way Moon preferred it.

Sun would much rather sacrifice his own worries if it meant making Moon feel better.

Moon felt a pang of worry course through him as he realized that his brother should have been back by now. He quickly sat up and got up from his bed, and quickly went to investigate. Moon didn't want to worry, it was most likely his own worrying thoughts getting to him.

Moon walked into the Daycare and immediately tensed up as he was hit with the bright light.

"Ugh!-" He groaned in annoyance, shielding his eyes from the brightness. "Sun, turn down the damn lights!" He called out, still trying to get used to the brightness.

Sun, who was by the security desk; conveniently stationed beside the light switch, hesitated, but turned them off. He mentally told himself that he'd get better at listing to Moon. He had to think of his brother, not always himself. The two from opposite sides watched at the daycare set into nighttime mode.

Moon's eyes were still squinted from the bright lights, adjusting to the dark faster than Sun could. He slowly lowered his hand and sighed in relief, the light giving him a headache.

"Ugh, don't do that ever again...." He muttered quietly. Moon jumped down from their room and landed in the ball pit, only to be immediately greeted by his brother.

Sun perked up immediately, his overwhelming amount of spiratic energy now being focus and projected into speech.

"Hey Moon! What are you doing up? Were you looking for me? Did you miss being around the daycare? Today was lonely without you sticking around today, not even just to watch."

Moon shut him up by placing a hand on his mouth,

"Calm down for a second, would you?" After assuring that Sun wouldn't explode with energy again, Moon answered him.

"..and no, I don't care. I just like to know where my test subject of a sibling is." He responded, smacking Sun on the side of the head.

Moon swiftly moved past him to walk towards the security desk. "What were you doing out here anyway?"

"I was just cleaning up the Daycare," Sun responded.

"I wanted to get all the cleaning done and everything set up for the next day, so it would be perfect and look nice in the morning."

"You already clean, like 6 hours throughout the day! What the hell is wrong with you?"

Sun didn't tell Moon that it was his mechanism when he got anxious. He said anything in fact, just stared into space, almost lost in thought. Moon stared at his brother, unable to pin the expression present on his face.

Moon waved a hand in front of Sun's face until he got an answer.

"I want everything to be perfect, for you. I want to make sure you're comfortable.."

Unlike in their stupid shared body, Sun never intended to hurt Moon- or make him mad when he was in control.

Moon rolled his eyes even though he was slightly touched by the statement. He changed the subject. "Glad you moved back in. Just because I said I wanted space, that didn't mean you had to move out! To SPACE. Jesus, I just wanted my own room."

Sun tensed up, flinching as Moon disregarded the previous topic. Sun knew that Moon didn't actually care for his worries or feelings, and that he just found it annoying.

He knew that Moon wouldn't care if he went as far as to move a whole galaxy away; Moon didn't need or want him.

"I..I-" Sun stuttered, bringing his arms around himself. "I didn't think you wanted me around.. I-"

Moon growled. He didn't want to make Sunrise emotional. "No. No, I do. I can't be without you, remember?"

Sun let out a shaky sigh and nodded.

"Yes..," he muttered, trying to calm himself down as his brother told him that he did want him around.

He was always craving his brother's attention. He craved any form of love, affection, or the small scrap of a compliment from Moon.

However, even when he did, his brother's words didn't really help, as they both knew how bad at expressing their emotions. One minute they can act like they hate each other and then the next act like they're actually the best of siblings.

Moon walked over and tilted Sun's chin up. "Now, what did we say about being sad? Where's that smile, Sunny?"

Sun shook any negative thoughts out of his head and nodded, forcing his regular wide smile onto his face. He knew he wasn't allowed to let himself be upset, and that whenever he expressed any form of sadness or anything like that it would just upset his brother. It was scary when Moon was angry.

He just had to make sure that he was happy, no matter if he felt like crying or being anything but cheerful and happy inside. Without Moon in his head, Sun's emotions had full free rein and were sometimes overwhelming.

"I'm not sad, I promise." Sun lied.

Moon let his gaze linger down on his twin. "Good. Are you coming to bed now?"

Sun shivered as he looked into his brother's ruby eyes, he was used to the intimidating look Moon would give him sometimes- always enough to make Sun back down in any circumstance.

He felt like a mouse being stared down by a snake..

Sun then hesitantly nodded, looking away. "Yes, I'm coming to bed.." He mumbled.

Moon made sure to remind Sun often of the unfair positions they were forced in while in the body. He believes that's why Sun is so punishable...easy to manipulate, he likes to be pushed around...being told what to do

But sometimes it seemed like Moon was the best brother in the entire world! And to think that he was his only twin, his only sibling, Sun didn't have to share Moon. Sun would feel like the happiest animatronic on earth when Moon would hang out with him and do those things with him.

Sun knew the two of them had a strange, dysfunctional relationship. It was filled with their toxic dynamic, with Sun being the overly needy and desperate sibling and always seeking approval. And Moon, who was usually the one calling the shots, and making the rules.

But it was okay, it worked itself out. At times, Moon was surprisingly sweet to Sun, and did things for him as a way of showing affection.

The flowers that Sun loved so much, the channel on YouTube that Sun adored, and the different dimensions Moon would take them to explore.

It could've gone on like that forever. Just the two of them.

Until Eclipse made himself known.

To say Eclipse was a bad influence was an understatement, he was probably the worst thing to ever happen to Sun and Moon....that year.

Moon sat up, his breathing was shaky as he tried to calm himself down. He was worried about Sun, he was worried for his brother.

He clutched the sheets of his bed, his heart racing with worry and panic for his brother. He wasn't one to worry about another person or animatronic, so why was he worrying now?

His eyes widened even more as another thought occurred to him.

What if Eclipse kills Sun..?

Moon continued to take shaky breaths, trying to calm down. He was usually so cold, and uncaring, yet here he was panicking over his brother's well-being.

He brought his legs up to his chest, wrapping the blankets around himself as he let out a small and almost sad sigh. He felt so helpless, and like he was just sitting here, while Eclipse could be doing anything to Sun right this second.

Moon felt so conflicted. He wanted to see his brother just to make sure he was alright, but at the same time he didn't know if he was going to be able to control his emotions and anger.

He couldn't help it though, he just didn't want to lose his brother.

With that in mind, Moon finally built up the courage to slowly stand up, and walked out of his room

Moon moved through the tunnel and balcony, but stopped as he was going to walk into the main area of the Daycare, he suddenly hearing noises come from one of the smaller play areas.

The lunar bot's eyes narrowed as he quietly approached the noise, trying to make out who it was. He couldn't tell if it was Sun or just some kid.

Moon let out a quiet sigh as he walked back to his room after realizing it was nothing. He quietly sat down on his bed and plugged himself into the wall.

He felt so useless for panicking, but he couldn't help it. He just didn't want to lose his brother, especially not to Eclipse of all people.

Eventually, Moon finally fell asleep.

...

Moon slowly sat up, and rubbed his eyes. As he looked around his room, he noticed that everything was cleaned and put away, which included his bed being made and his laundry being done.

He was used to Sun doing these things for him sometimes, the overly clingy and nurturing brother that he was, so he was expecting it to have been Sun's doing.

Moon looked around, sitting up. Sun was fine, it seemed...at least for last night. Moon was just overreacting, for the most part.

Not like panicking solved anything anyway. The Celestial Twins still had to deal with the Killcode in Sun causing everything to mess up. He didn't want Sun to be driven away from him.

Moon pulled out his phone suddenly, shooting Sun a quick check-in message. And after contemplating, a thank-you for the room tidying.

He opened the notes on his phone, little ticks that Sun/Eclipse had. Jotted down possible ideas to convince Eclipse to at least move to another body. An astritx was beside the proposal, however.

*May cause permanent damage to Sun. See professional.

As much as Moon hated to admit it, bit Sun was right when he mentioned they needed a fresh pair of eyes. But who?

What the hell was he supposed to do about this now?

Chapter 5: You Need Sleep

Summary:

Requested by Lillygames02 -Sorry this took longer than usual, I actually had trouble creating a plotline for this oneshot.

No trigger warnings needed. Completely SFW. Unless you count overworking. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

NOTE: This takes place AFTER Nexus was killed.

Notes:

Guys I know this is shorter than usual, sorry about that.

The prompt was "Sun or Moon is deliriously exhausted and the other just has a subconscious sensation in the back of their head to go check on the other. And if needed get their twin to go to sleep"

There was also mention of Solar being involved, and I had a similar request for another prompt- which is in an upcoming chapter. Tysm for requesting and reading <3

If you're reading this on any other platform than AO3, this work has been stolen.

Moon sighed as he leaned back into the couch and looked over at the clock. It was 2 in the morning and he was still working. He picked up the black coffee that he had set on the small table and took a sip as he continued to scroll on his computer from the couch.

Moon set the coffee back on the table before sighing once again and shutting his computer off, tiredly dragging himself to the kitchen.

God, he was so looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.

The lunar-animatronic shuffled quietly around in the cupboards, searching for his favourite cereal. Unfortunately, with Sun mostly out of commission mentally, he wasn't the one grocery shopping..it was Lunar. Moon had theorized that Lunar didn't even look at this list he was sent off with.

Or maybe he did it just to spite Moon, as he did NOT find his preference of snack, instead a terrible knock off version that tasted very different from the original.

Whatever, he needed to keep his energy up somehow. Knowingly avoiding grabbing a dish, Moon spun around and was met with an almost identical face standing by the stairs leading up to his bedroom.

"Sun?"

...

Sun had barely said a word since...it happened. He really didn't talk to anyone when he did other than Solar. And that was after hours of prodding and check-ins.

With Dazzle in safe hands, Sun really could focus on what he really was missing.

As much as Solar was there for him every step of the way- whether that be an episode, anxiety attack or just plain company. He really couldn't fill where Moon was supposed to be.

It at least where Sun wanted needed him to be.

Solar knew this. He tried communicating his concerns to Earth, Lunar, and Monty. But they all supported, or at the very least let it be that Moon was off helping in his own way.

Soon enough, Solar had marched down to his best friend's laboratory and convinced him to come back to the house.

Thankfully, Moon went up to try to talk to his brother a few times. Sun seemed content and frankly relieved that Moon had come back.

Earlier tonight, Solar had done one last check up on Sunrise before walking over to his own nearby bedroom. He did not tell Sun that Moon was still trying to find Dark Sun, but he did mention that his twin was in the house, offering his own or Moon's assistance at any time during the night.

Sun nodded and let Solar go on his way.

Now, the yellow bot certainly did not drift into sleep mode after the other had left. However, the silence allows him to sink into his head once again.

Sun's eyes flicked up and out of the fog of his dreaded hallucinations. The kitchen light had been turned on and flooded his stairway.

After a moment of hesitation, Sun got up from his chair stationed in the corner of the room and peaked down into the small hallway connecting to the kitchen.

Making his way down quietly in case whoever was present in the kitchen wasn't real, Sun poked his head out into the open to see Moon.

He wondered why his brother was still awake, he was seemingly exhausted. Sun stepped out of partial hiding and watched as he startled Moon.

...

"Sun?"

Moon placed the cereal box on the counter and slapped a hand over his chest as if he had experienced a metaphorical heart attack. "You scared me, bud"

Sun looked down, wordlessly apologizing before securing eye contact with Moon once again.

"What are you doing?" Sun's voice sounded completely devoid of emotion and was quiet. Moon winced at the thought of possibly waking Sun up with his carelessness.

Though, Moon did crack a little smile as he heard Sun speak, something he hadn't done in a few days.

"I've just...been working, did I wake you up?"

Sun's optics flicked to the oven clock. He then frowned seeing the time. Not for his own sake, of course. But for Moon's

He shook his head, informing Moon that it wasn't his fault that he was awake and conscious. However, Sun began to stare burning holes into his brother, he had so many questions running through his already crowded head.

Moon frowned, confused. "Sun? What's wrong? You're staring."

"I know." Sun said quietly while pushing himself off the doorway.

Moon just sighed, he began to pet the cat that had wandered down from Sun's room as he stared back at his brother with a tired look.

"Why are you up at two in the morning? You shouldn't-"

"I could ask you the same thing, Moon."

Moon rolled his eyes and looked away from Sun.

"I was busy actually working. I'm almost close to getting the location of Dark Sun."

Sun's expression softened, he was glad Moon was home. But not when he was still running himself into the ground for some form of revenge.

Sun wandered closer to his twin. "You need to take a break, Moon."

Moon closed his eyes and hummed softly as Sun reached out to massaged his hands. He leaned into Sun's touch, but he still shook his head.

"I can't. I have to-, I can't stop now."

"Moon..." Sun used his calm, semi tired, maybe a little whiney voice to maybe guilt trip Moon to come to bed.

"You can let the computer run overnight, just charge for a few hours? ....Please?"

Moon sighed and opened his eyes again before pouting. He was weak to Sun using that voice. A weak point, but he couldn't help it-.

He slowly would nod his head after a few moments of silence.

"Fine. But only for a few hours."

Sun was nervous approaching Moon initially, he hadn't had this kind talk since Moon had come back. He was relieved that Moon was listening.

"Good by me. Please, I'll help you up there"

Moon rolled his eyes as Sun said that, he slowly nudged the cat off of his leg before standing up, still pouting.

Moon sighed and began walking towards his room. He stopped for a moment before looking back at Sun.

"Do you want to come for the walk?" Moon asked, holding his hand out to Sun.

"oh. You want-? Okay."

Moon nodded and continued walking to his room, Sun followed closely behind him. Eventually, the two made it to Moon's room. He pushed the door open before walking into his room and getting onto his bed. He curled up and put his head on the pillow, he didn't care that his shoes were still on.

"Happy, Sunny?"

Sun deadpanned. He shook his head, as if to say "Moon, come on."

His brother just huffed stubbornly in response and curled even more into his pillow. He just wanted to sleep, he was way too tired to be bothered to take off his shoes or tuck himself in.

Sun tilted his head and eventually decided to do it for Moon. He knew Moon shouldn't be doing this overwhelming work to himself! Sunrise picked up a nearby blanket, covering his twin with it.

Moon mumbled something under his breath as Sun took his slippers off of his feet and covered him with a nearby blanket. He turned to face away from Sun, still reaching his hand out to link fingers.

"Go to bed, Sunrise.."

He mumbled, tired and grumpy. One could tell he was holding onto his niceness by a thread for his recently traumatized brother. In reality, Moon really just needed to charge and sleep. Which is exactly what he's about to do. His eyes were shut and he was already starting to pass out.

Sun walked back to the living room, grabbing Moon's belongings and turning back. He placed the laptop on Moon's desk as he dimmed the lights.

"Goodnight, Moon." He muttered, shutting the door to his bedroom.

Moon was half asleep at this point. Though he mumbled into his pillow softly.

" Night, Sun"

Sunrise panted heavily as he backed away from his ex-brother. Nexus was closing in on him fast, Sun could practically feel the radiation of Dark Star energy moving off of Nexus.

"Moon, Moon, Moon, please..come on..."

Nexus growled from behind him, aggravated by Sun resisting his movements to capture him. "Do not call me that. I'm not Moon."

Sun didn't turn back to face Nexus, "I wasn't- ugh, I wasn't talking to you!"

Almost tripping over his feet, Moon finally picked up the phone and answered like nothing drastic was happening. "What's up, Sun?"

"Moon! Please...please come, he's here. I'm in B-Bonnie Bowl, please Moon he's chasing me."

Moon was taken aback, "Whoa, Sun. Slow down. Who's there?"

"Nexus, he-"

Moon's brain stopped registering anything after that name. Every other word Sun had said describing his situation was lost. Nexus.

His brain, his mind was ripped in half by his replacement.

"Nex..uh..I..w-"

Sun's eyes widened in terror upon hearing Moon's reaction. "Moon? Moon, please. He's right h-"

Moon snapped out of his trance when Nexus' voice was picked up by Sun's internal phone. "Looks like you've got yourself cornered, Sunny."

The line went silent before long. Moon knew he couldn't take on Nexus by himself. But, would Sun think less of him if Moon himself did come save him?

Unknowingly, Moon pulled up Monty's contact, he was probably in the Pizzaplex- which was a lot closer to Sun than he was currently.

After getting confirmation that Monty would be receiving Sun and bringing him back to the house, Moon relaxed slightly and waited.

What's the worst that could happen?

....

"Where are you?" Moon hissed through the phone, desperately wanting to pulverize Nexus despite being extremely terrified of him.

"I don't see..them...either Nexus or Sun" Monty sounded distressed. "They're just gone."

Moon grit his teeth together, clenching his fists and pacing the living room. "That fucking copy-paste freak took Sunny..?"

"I highly doubt Sun went down without a hell of a fight, Moon. We'll find him." Montgomery reassured their friend, still hauling their shotgun over their shoulder in case of Nexus.

Moon was silent on the other end of the line for a scary amount of time. At first Monty thought he hung up out of rage, but the cal was still very much connected.

"Moon?"

No answer.

"...Do I need to send someone over there?"

"No! I'm fine..I want Sun- I just.." Moon stood still in front of the entrance to their house. He had been waiting for Monty to bring Sunrise back home.

"Okay, let's think rationally. Where did Sun say he was when he called you first?"

Moon was spiralling, and fast. He was going to call his brother to ask- before ultimately realizing that he wasn't there.

"He...said he was on the second floor of the atrium, I-i told him not to get himself cornered, but obviously he did have contr-" Moon's voice cracked badly. "He didn't have control over that. Nexus is strong...I'd know. And now he's after Sun and-"

Monty kept listening while scanning the entire portion of the Pizzaplex where Sun had been attacked/chased and unfortunately, kidnapped.

"We're gonna get him back, Moon."

Then there was suddenly the gravely sound of glass shattering on Moon's side of the call.

"Shit-"  Moon cursed out, clearly keeping it quieter as his voice would've been as he was unsure if Jack or Dazzle were currently inside the house.

"I can't even-" Moon draped himself over the kitchen counter, feeling utter most dread. His artificial breath causing him to gasp for unneeded air, his mind running with worst possible scenarios of what Nexus could possibly be doing to Sunrise.

"All I wanted was to get a glass of water and I dropped the dumb glass- I should of gone to get him Monty. Because of my decision to get you to do it- Sun's gone."

"No- you know what? I'm going to find him. Nexus doesn't get to have his way and mess with with Sun."

"You don't let anyone mess with Sun." Monty remarked, but they were also slightly worried that Moon would charge in, completely forgetting Nexus' ambitious power and strength.

"Yes, and I stand by that." Moon snarled back, pacing around the kitchen, still being cautious of all the broken glass still on the floor.

"I have to find him, Monty. I promised I wouldn't quit on Sun. Not again."

Chapter Text

Solar never dreamed often.

His processors allowed for low-power cycles, a mechanical equivalent of sleep, but dreams were rare. Really just shadows of memory slipping through code, fragments of light and voice that never fully formed.

Tonight, though, the second his optics dimmed, the dream came crashing in.

At first, he thought it was a memory.

He opened his eyes slowly, as if he had just come back online from a reboot. The ceiling above him was cracked plaster, water stains spreading like rot.

He knew this room. He had lived here once. The room above the daycare was stale, damp, and mildewed, with every small sound amplified by the hollow quiet. Solar rose slowly, the heavy weight of déjà vu pressing down on him, dread pooling in his chest.

“…hello?” His rough voice echoed back, small in the emptiness. The wooden floor was still littered with old merchandise and toys. The shadows stretched wrong. Corners bent where no walls stood. And then suddenly,

“Solar.”

He froze.

That voice. Familiar, but warped. It came from the doorway, and his heart- or the animatronic equivalent of it- lurched forward.

Sun stepped out from Moon's little bedroom tunnel; it wasn’t his Sun, but it was his Sun. Daydream.

A very warped version of Daydream.

The same size, but only gaunter, the pale yellow of his face dulled into sickly ash. It reminded Solar heavily of Daydream's final moments before complete paralyzation- and essentially, death. His face was emotionless, his eyes flickering with the royal blue coloured iris. No corruption.

Unfortunately, the eerie silence didn't last long as behind him, Moonstone emerged, but Daydream's brother (Solar doesn't consider himself related to his Moon) was equally wrong. His starry patterns were smeared into a black void, eyes burning like hollow lanterns.

Solar stumbled back. “No… no, this isn't happening.”

The two laughed together, creating a horrible, echoing chime. Moonstone's arms moved to have a possessive hold on Daydream, keeping him close, protecting him from Solar.

“Come on, 'Clipse.” Daydream tilted his head, bells clinking faintly, and a soft smile Solar hadn’t seen in years. “We’re as real as the family you abandoned.

Moonstone slithered closer, his words like venom. “You left us. And now you play house with replacements.”

“I didn’t leave-!” Solar’s voice cracked, defensiveness spiking into panic. “Well, I did leave, but I-I couldn’t save you-”

They circled him, predatory. The walls groaned, cracking outward like glass under pressure, and the messy room blurred into something worse: flashes of Moonstone's bedroom with Daydream hooked up to all sorts of machinery to keep him alive played through his brain. Suddenly, he was back in the daycare, Sun and Moon's daycare, standing over the corpse of Moonstone. The look of revenge was still plastered on his faceplate as death took hold of the naptime attendant,

Shards of casing splattered with oil lined the floor, reflecting his own wide-eyed fear a hundred times over.

Sunrise leaned down, face inches from his. “You protect them, don’t you? Always so proud. The strong one. The glue.” His smile sharpened. “But when it mattered, you couldn’t even hold us together.”

Moonstone’s voice responded through the area, body still unmoving, each reflection whispering at Solar. “You weren’t enough. Never strong enough. Never fast enough. You let us burn.”

“No.” Solar backed against the wall, his fists clenched. His whole body felt heavy, like moving through water, but he forced himself upright. “I fought for you! I tried!”

Tried.” Daydream's laugh was sharp, cruel. So darkly uncharacteristic. “That’s all you ever were, trying. But never winning. Never protecting.”

The scene seemed to explode, shards flying at him like daggers. Solar raised his arms on instinct, metal scraping against metal as he blocked the blows. He shoved forward, slamming into Moonstone's upright dead body, still leaking oil, but he only laughed, dissolving into smoke that coiled around Solar's limbs like memories.

Moonstone struck from the shadows, claws raking across his chestplate. Sparks flared from the metal-on-metal friction. Solar grunted, stumbling, before swinging hard, his fist connecting with Moon’s faceplate. The illusion flickered, reforming instantly, smirking.

“You can’t fight what’s already dead.”

Solar’s panic curdled into fury. “Then get out of my head!” He roared, surging forward, fists slamming into the floor hard enough to send cracks spiderwebbing through the dream-room. For a moment, the figures faltered, static buzzing over their forms.

But then Daydream's voice came again, softer now, more cutting. “You replaced us.”

Solar froze.

“You look at that new Sun like he’s ours. Like you can just swap him in and pretend.” Their blue eyes glowed. “Does he know? Does he know you imagine me when he smiles at you?”

Solar’s throat felt like it went dry.

Moonstone stepped closer again, joining Daydream, whispering in his ear, “And when you see me- do you hate him for not being enough like me? Or do you just wish I’d survived instead?”

"God, never. Moon's so much better than you." His words burrowed deep, sharper than claws. Solar staggered back, his chest aching with a pressure he couldn’t release. They both kept talking, flashbacks infiltering his data banks.

“I- no. That’s not-” He shook his head violently. “You’re not them. They’re gone.”

“Because you failed.”

The dream fractured. The floor collapsed into endless dark, dragging Solar down. He fell, twisting, reaching for something—anything. Sun and Moon leaned over the abyss, faces lit from below, monstrous and beautiful all at once.

“You weren’t strong enough then.”

“You won’t be strong enough now.”

Their hands reached for him, grasping, clawing, pulling him down into the void.

Solar hit the ground hard.

He gasped, vision shattering into white sparks. The room reformed around him, physically burning this time. Flames licked up the walls, choking smoke curling around his faceplate. His breathing shallowed, his sensors screaming, but all he heard was Moonstone’s cold mockery.

He staggered upright, chestplate dented and scratched, arms trembling. “I am strong enough!”

“No.”

The two figures towered above him now, warped into towering shadows, eyes blazing.

“You’ll always be too late.”

“You’ll always lose the ones you love.”

Solar bared his teeth, fists trembling. For a heartbeat, doubt cracked through him- what if they were right? What if everything he had now was just... borrowed? Doomed to break the same way?

Then, he thought of Sun’s laughter in the kitchen. Of Moon’s dry, annoyed muttering late at night.

Not them. Not again.

He drew himself up, legs braced against the trembling floor. His voice roared through the inferno, steady, unyielding.

“I couldn’t save you. I’ll live with that forever. But they are mine now. My family. And I’ll protect them, even from you!”

The figures recoiled as if struck. Their shadows fractured, forms splitting apart in static and smoke. The fire shrieked, mirrors shattered again, and Solar lunged, grabbing Sun’s warped form by the arms. ever so gently, then slamming him back into Moon, forcing them both into the collapsing wall.

“Stay gone!”

Light exploded.

Solar jolted awake.

He sat upright in his bed, frame shaking, vents gasping for air. His chestplate ached where the claws had raked him, though he knew it wasn’t real. Phantom pains. The room was dark, quiet, and the house was as it should be.

But his hands wouldn’t stop trembling.

Slowly, silently, he got up. His footsteps padded down the hall, toward the living room. He peeked around the corner. Sun was curled up in tangled blankets, Moon sprawled beside him, both of them deeply asleep. Dazzle, Jack, and Molten lay sleeping in a pillow fort they had set up.

Peaceful. Whole.

Solar’s throat tightened. For a long moment, he just stood there, watching their chests rise and fall, letting the sight ground him.

He sighed in relief, his voice still hoarse.

He pulled his body back into the hall by his bedroom again, leaning against the wall in the dark hallway. His fists clenched until metal creaked.

The dream’s words lingered, sharp as glass.

You replaced us. You’ll always lose them.

Solar closed his eyes.

Only silence.
