Work Text:

"Have you ever celebrated Christmas?" Jevin asked in his usual monotone, a hint of amusement flickering beneath his stoic exterior as the boy in front of him quickly shook his head in response, clutching the older Sprunki's dark blue robe. Holding onto Jevin was one of the few things that made him somewhat calm; he felt safe near him.

"It would be your first time, huh." He took his time to look around the place. The others' had already put up decorations for this holiday, even Mr. Tree had colorful lights wrapped around him. It was a rather funny sight to behold, he had to admit. He could tell how important this day was to everyone else, but he just couldn't feel the same. They all respected his decision, as they knew he had completely different beliefs.

He could sit with them at the dinner still, but he was sure his demeanor would just spoil their fun, and he wasn't good at acting, so he always kept to himself instead. He enjoyed watching the stars this day in particular, so he wasn't complaining.

Jevin's train of thought was abruptly interrupted when he felt someone tug on his hood. He would get annoyed with anyone else, but Owa was different. He was like a little brother to him. He looked at the lime Sprunki with his stoic expression, though a warm feeling spread through his chest when he saw how giddy Owa was being, unable to stay in one place.

"Hey, wanna make this day extra special?" Jevin couldn't help but smile when Owa practically bounced in place, frantically nodding his head even before Jevin was done speaking. "We could watch the stars, just us. They're really beautiful." He pointed at the sky, Owa eagerly following with his eyes. The sky was already darkening, and some stars were visible.

"I think it's almost time anyway, so we better get going." Jevin took Owas hand in his as they began walking towards the area that had much more trees scattered around. He hummed a soft tune under his breath as Owa swayed his head from side to side, happily skipping beside the taller Sprunki. The air was crisp, and the entire island was blanketed in a thin layer of snow.

After a moment of walking both of them stopped in their tracks when a familiar pink Sprunki hopped towards them with a curious gaze.

"Jevin? Where are you going with Owakcx this late?" Pinki tilted her head, trying to read Jevin's expression, though it wasn’t an easy task since he always wore the same stoic one.

"Watch the stars. I've decided to bring him along." Jevin simply answered, lightly squeezing Owa's hand in an attempt to calm him down when he noticed Owa growing more impatient, his fingers twitching in his grasp.

"But you're gonna be late for our Christmas dinner!" Pinki replied with a small frown, glancing between Jevin and Owa. "And it's his first time celebrating—"

She got cut off by Jevin pulling the boy against his side, draping his robe over Owakcxs smaller body. "I don't need your input, Pinki. He's perfectly content with spending this time with me." Owa nodded rapidly, his left eye involuntarily twitching as he waved at the pink Sprunki, clearly excited about the whole situation. After a moment of silence she shook her head and spoke up;

"...I hope you have fun, you two." Pinki sighed with a soft smile, waving back at Owa as they both began walking away, their feet imprinting shapes in the snow. She knew Jevin had good intentions, and she wasn't scared to leave Owakcx alone in the dark with him. Besides, she didn't have the heart to stop them after seeing Owa's joyful expression. They would have more chances to spend time together in the future, anyway.

"...Are you tired of walking?" Jevin glanced down at Owa when he noticed a subtle change in pace, the lime Sprunki dragging his feet. He softly chuckled as Owa weakly nodded, clearly drained of his earlier energy. "That's okay." Jevin reassured him before releasing his hand, Owa looking up at him with a puzzled expression. "If that's alright with you..." Jevin bend over, reaching his arms towards Owa. "How about I carry you the rest of the way?"

Owas eyes lit up, his hands slightly trembling as he threw himself into Jevin's arms, earning a soft gasp of surprise from him. He carefully wrapped his arms around Owa's back and behind his knees, lifting him as he rose to his feet. Owa nuzzled his cheek against the fabric of Jevin’s robe, his eyes closing in contentment.

"Don't fall asleep on me, now." Jevin murmured softly as he made his way through the dense forest, the snow crunching beneath his feet. It was completely dark now, the thick canopy of trees blocking their view of the stars. Jevin knew the forest like the back of his hand, so he had no trouble navigating through it. After a few turns, he walked past the last tree and looked up at the sky, still holding Owa in his arms.

He sat on the ground, not caring about the coldness of the snow under him as he gently shook Owa, waking him up. "Pretty, aren't they?" He smiled as Owa, still in his dazed state, glanced up. His eyes lit up in awe as he opened his mouth, clutching Jevin's robe just a little tighter.

"I’ve been waiting for the perfect moment to share this sight with you." Jevin hummed as he shifted in his position, with Owa sitting in his lap, his eyes darting from one constellation to another. Jevin felt at home, Owa was someone he had formed a deep bond with, someone he felt the need to take care of, and someone to whom he could reveal his true colors. It all made him genuinely happy, Owa made him happy.

"Look at me, now." Jevin ruffled the boy's hair as he took a small box out of his robe's pocket, offering it to him. Owa pointed at the gift and then at himself, as if not believing Jevin got something for him. "Take it. I've made it myself." Owa took the box with shaking hands, opening it as his eye twitched.

He took out a silver bracelet with half of a charm and hastily put it on, looking over it with a wide grin on his face, while Jevin fiddled with something under his robe. "Sun is the biggest star, you know." Jevin leaned forward and placed his wrist near Owa's, both of them staring as the charms connected, making a full sun.

"Merry Christmas."
