The drifter had been staring at him for the past ten minutes, completely silent and motionless in their creepy void-loop ways. Under normal circumstances someone who likes to stare wouldn’t make Amir flinch, usually being the loudest in any room and used to the attention. For whatever reason, today of all days the glowing and unblinking stare of the drifter made his hands sweat and his mind race more than normal.
His hands fly across the keypad, rhythm unbroken only by muscle memory from the comfort he has known for so long. The music hummed a steady upbeat electronic tune in the background as he sped around the level, shooting enemies while dodging and blocking other attacks. Colors flashed, attempting to lure his concentration back to the battle happening onscreen.
Amir shut his eyes tightly, taking a quick breath before shaking his head and putting his complete focus on the level. If they needed something from him, they would ask.
The drifter continued to stare, face unintentionally blank as they thought about the man in front of them.
Amir was undeniably beautiful, his strong nose and dark, thick hair just as charming as his bright smile and deep eyes. Knowingly observed or not, the curve of his lips as he smiled in a concentrated happiness was captivating. The long expanse of his neck stretched temptingly to allow him to see the small screen was a cruel tease he was painfully unaware of.
His forehead twitches, their attention caught by the scars along his face. They breathe as they imagine the way the thin indents would feel under their fingers, slightly raised but as soft as the skin surrounding it. Even the seam between the protoframe and his skin look soft to the touch, moving with the flex of his jaw as he breathes steadily. They wonder absently about the warmth of his skin against their own.
From miscellaneous missions with the hex, the drifter knew that the skin on the protoframes hands were warm, and from the health lessons they had been receiving from Lettie, they knew that the hex had a warmer body temperature then regular humans did.
Their thumb gently rubs over the fabric of their clothing, wondering if the cold of their own voided skin would bother him. During the nights he had nightmares, they would sit near to him in comfort, but the nightmare alone could be enough for him to bypass his discomfort for the moment.
They blink, thoughts trailing back to the way Amir looks in the cabinet light as he cringes and laughs awkwardly before turning to them. The red hue of the game over screen shining against his tan skin was beautiful, washing him in light color as shadows moved alongside him. His mouth opened, letting out a small laugh and glancing around.
“What happened?” They asked, voice making Amir jump as his gaze snapped back to theirs.
“Oh-uh. Nothing.” His head turned back to the cabinet like he couldn’t quite believe that he had lost either. “Got distracted-s’all.”
His explanation is simple, but the drifter accepts it, eyes moving down from his to watching the screen and waiting for him to start again before catching his again.
“Is there something on my face?” Amir asked, words quickening as his hands fidget with the controls of the game cabinet, switching from the game start screen to the settings menu and back. “You must be bored watching me play for so long, huh? Ifyouwantedwecouldwatchamovie?”
The drifter moves without thinking, hands coming up and cupping the warm skin on Amir’s face with their palms as they lean in. Their breath ghosts over his lips for a moment, eyes fluttering shut as they press a chaste kiss to his soft lower lip before their hands fall away.
He freezes, eyes wide and suddenly speechless. His face erupts into a dark blush, a high pitched whine erupting from his chest before he tried to inhale and speak at the same time, choking on his own spit and coughing into his elbow for a moment. Composing himself as much as possible, his head whipped back to the drifter, shock and joy clear on his face. “Wha- You just- youkissedme?” He was almost lightheaded from how red his face was, the deep blush charming on him.
“You’re pretty, sorry, couldn’t help it.” They shrugged, but the illusion of nonchalance was easily broken by the blush that warmed their cheeks too. “You can keep playing,” They added quickly “Just needed to give you a kiss.”
Amirs heart raced, glancing behind him at the cabinet quickly before feeling sparks fly around his figure. The drifter laughed at his reaction, affection almost dripping from their gaze as he shifted.
“I don’t know if I can.” He rushed out, energy almost boiling his blood. “Can’t believe this is happening.”
Their head tilted in response, glancing down at his lips before meeting his eyes again.
“Do you need another kiss?” Their voice was deceptively innocent, teasing him easily while he was pinned to the games he loved so much.
Amir’s mouth opened and closed multiple times, eyes glancing between theirs before finally looking at their own lips. “Please?” He breathed, voice soft in a way neither of them had heard before. They smiled again at his reaction, leaning towards him to cradle his face once more, feeling the smooth skin and soft scars on his warm skin. His head pressed against their hands, mouth closing and eyes fluttering as their lips brush his, a well appreciated soothing cool against the burning warmth of his cheeks.
The drifters own eyes shut as they press towards the heat of the man who plagued every thought, pouring their soft feelings into his soft treatment. They nipped at his lip before pulling away slightly, using their tongue to soothe the bite and kissing it better. Amir’s eyes shot open as they began to pull away, moving towards them and trying to follow their lips as a way to ask for more.
They laughed as his lips met their cheek, delighting in the Pandora’s box of affection they had now opened.
