Chapter Text
Snow crunched beneath her feet. Her mind swirled with the thoughts of that hospital. In the distance she heard the roar of her sister's motorcycle and winced. Another fight would probably break out then. Dad and Sis thought she didn’t see the tension between them. That she couldn’t hear the shouting late at night when she was supposed to be asleep. But she did. Ruby Rose looked up to the shattered moon and sighed. ‘ Why? Why can’t this all be normal’
Behind her, she heard more snow crunch, and she snapped to attention, slowly reaching for the device on her back. Behind her she hears a familiar low growl as more footfalls sound out, beginning to surround her. Slowly, the red hooded girl turns to see them. Beowolves. A small pack of them. No Alphas. ‘ Good. I have some emotions to work off’
In a blur of red, she runs forth, slamming into the first beast, before leaping off, and pulling the device from her back. It unfolds slightly into a boxy rifle, and with a pull of the trigger, the monster disintegrates, the young girl flying into the air, her red cloak trailing behind her. The rifle begins to shift again, unfolding into a mechanical scythe, and with another squeeze of the trigger she is sent flying down with an echoing bang, slicing through the neck of another, killing it instantly. Before its body turns to dust, she has already twisted around, and cleaved through another, dashing through the pack and killing them in rapid succession.

The final Beowolf fell to the ground and disintegrated, Ruby letting out a breath. As she went to put her weapon away, she heard another crunch, quieter. Twisting around, she saw it. An Alpha, already mid swing. Its claws cleaved through the air leaving behind a trail of red. It looked down at its claws, and saw no blood, just petals. Another bang rang out, its shoulder being torn apart as it twisted around, clawing the air in desperation, and once again leaving nothing but a trail of petals. Ruby smirked to herself as she pulled her scythe behind her, and squeezed the trigger one last time, catching the neck of the beast on the blade, and using her momentum to decapitate it. As its body faded to dust, she folded up her weapon and let out a breath. More snow crunched, and she twirled around before deflating.
“RUBY! Are you ok? We heard some gunshots earlier” her dad said as he ran up to her.
“I’m fine dad,” she responded, letting herself be pulled into his hug. “Some Beowolves decided to mess with me. Gave me a good chance to finally test out Crescent Rose though.”
Taiyang let out a sigh of relief before pulling back and ruffling the girl’s hair, Ruby sputtering in indignation at the action. “Glad you’re safe. Let’s go home. Yang had some big news she wanted to share with us,”
The two began their trek back home, and above them the shattered moon's glow seemed to tint red as the remains of the Rose Petals scattered on the wind.
