Summary
Xelqua had been born an avian, bearing six wings instead of the common two or four. The extra appendages corresponded to his heightened magic affinity, he'd come to theorize.
The two new pairs of wings certainly did.
He was able to do things now, things not any Avian should have been able to do. He could corrupt electrical systems with a thought, could phase through objects like a Vex. His wounds seemed to heal over in a matter of hours. It made escaping police custody a rather simple task.
Once at a safe distance, Xelqua tucked his wings away with his regular magic. The four extras went away with them; as did his peculiar new powers.
He staggered the streets until he found where the earth tipped downwards, falling to the musky streets of the Perimeter. Dazed, alone, free.
The only evidence now left of the ceremony were his missing eyes.
