“Guys, I have to tell you all something.” Everyone in the locker room looks up when Matthew speaks up. “This will be my last practice, ever, because… I am pregnant! I'm super happy and lucky to get the opportunity to start a family and I'll probably see you all around more often than not.” Matthew laughs softly as he locks eyes with William across the room.
The guys erupt in cheers and Matthew feels himself be pulled into multiple hugs, much congratulations and claps on his back as he keeps smiling.
“WILLYYY!!!” Matthew laughs softly and looks at his partner again, he's being tossed around between their teammates, laughing loudly. Matthew just feels Mitch wrap his arm around him and they smile at each other, leaning together.
“Kiss kiss kiss kiss” The boys chant as they push Willy into the middle of the locker room, looking at Matthew expectantly. Mitch laughs and pushes Matthew as well, towards Willy. They both laugh and blush softly, William lays his arms over Matthew's shoulders and pulls him in for a soft kiss.
“Yep, that's 100 for both of you!” They laugh as they pull away, seeing Reavo standing at the whiteboard with the marker in hand already. Matthew laughs louder when he sees Mitch fly over to him to knock it out of his hand.
“I love you.” Willy whispers and walks back to his stall, smiling at Matthew, who also sits down. They finish dressing around and go practice. None of the guys can hide their excitement as they hug Matthew at every given moment, Joseph wraps his arms around him every time they sit down for another drill explanation.
When Matthew trips and falls while setting up a shot, Joseph steps out of the way and traps him in the goal, standing in front of it again. Matthew laughs and weakly pushes on Joseph's legs, shielding his face whenever the goalie drops down to make a save.
“JOE'S FIGHTING!!! GOALIE FIGHT GUYS!” Auston screams when Willy comes to free Matthew from the net. It's a lot of playful fighting, but he does crawl out eventually.
“Nooo!! Willy gets to have him for the rest of his life, I wanna keep him as my goal treasure!!” Matthew hears his best friend whine and smiles, clapping him on his shoulder and leaning their helmets together.
“I promise you can come around anytime, Joey.” The goalie smiles at that and hugs him tight.
“I’m gonna miss you, Bricky.” Matthew smiles and they lock eyes again.
“I'm not dead, you know.” Joseph pouts and Matthew lets go as he laughs. “Come on, let's shower and get home.” He claps his back and skates away backwards, watching as Joe stays in his net, looking so sad and lonely. But he knows he's just teasing.
Finally, after all those years, they don't make it a big deal when Matthew and Willy cuddle under the shower. They instead smile and clap once again, being proud and happy for their teammates.
