Chapter Text
Chapter 1 (Y/N's POV)
“Okay class, now that you’re clear on the project requirements, please partner up and start working on it.” Our teacher ordered. The classroom was quieter than usual, but Mrs.Tanaka was used to yelling at us for being too loud, so she was trained to be stern with our class.
Although it was already 5 months into my third year, I still hadn’t made any friends in my class. My friends were mainly from art club, and they were in different classes from me. Needless to say, I hated any project that required pairing up or getting into groups.
“Hey,” a soft voice called from next to me, “Would you like to partner with me?” Next to me sat volleyball captain Oikawa Tooru. I knew he was popular, and obviously handsome, which is why I knew better than to try talk to a guy like that. Why was he asking me to be his partner instead of going with one of his friends, like usual? Although a part of me was clearly screaming this was a bad idea, I couldn’t help it, with the way he was looking at me, how could anyone expect me to say no to being his project partner?
“Sure. Thanks for asking me.” I replied, unsure of what else to say, but I wanted to express gratitude for not having to go begging for a partner. I figured he would be a good partner too, since he was good at school and seemed to do well in this class too. “Hey, could I get your contact info, so we can discuss this later?” I nervously breathed out. He must’ve been able to hear how anxious I was to even bring it up.
“Sure.” He cooly agreed and provided me his phone to get his number. “Send a test message to make sure you got the right number.”
“Oh, ok. Sure.” I fumbled around my phone and sent him a simple ‘Hi’ text message. He smiled at his phone and typed something back. ‘Hey’ appeared in a small blue bubble in my phone. At least texting him now won’t be so awkward.
I reached into my bag and searched for the lab instructions for us to complete, this way I could discuss with him how we’d like to split the tasks. Also to understand how much he was able to complete without help. I didn’t doubt he would be able to complete the task, I just didn’t want him to be unable to complete it later. Pulling the papers out of my bag I turned to his seat to start the discussion. With no sound whatsoever, he was gone from his seat and the classroom. He just left without saying a word to me or discussing the project. As bad as it felt to be left like that, I still needed to discuss it with him, and I knew where to find him. Well, everyone knows where to find him.
