In the amble of a shivering, dark night—with a hospital wing bed of her very own—Ginny lay awake. She winced at the swelling ache from her bandaged arm. Only an idiot would break their arm in a Quidditch match. Stupid.
Her eyes shot across the room, settling on a dark figure. Lingering in the doorway.
“Hi, Ginny.”
Relief escaped her lips. “Hi, Luna.”
“I heard you broke your arm.”
Ginny blinked. “Luna, you saw me break my arm.”
She hummed. “I suppose I did.”
Ginny let out a huff of laughter. Awkwardly, she shifted to the other side of the bed. Making room.
Luna wandered to her. Her bare feet made soft, pattering sounds across the cold, sterile floor. She faded into view, sporting a blue nightie that kissed her thighs. Ginny averted her gaze, a flush creeping up her neck.
She slid gracefully under the covers, sidling up against Ginny. Their faces a breath apart. Her heart skipped painfully.
Once settled, Luna’s eyes shifted between Ginny's face and arm.
“Want me to kiss it better?”
Ginny shoved down her growing anticipation. “Sure.”
She held out her arm.
Instead, Luna closed the distance. No longer a breath away.
