The argument could be heard through the entire site echoing off of the sterile halls and the sound of machines running and, over the talking of other scientists that made the background noise, in the mechanical wing of the lab two voices echoed.
“We shouldn’t continue with the project, we don’t know what’s on the other side, I know that it benefits the world’s transportation but it’s best if we shut it down” said dr. flight.
dr. Sunny replied, “but the benefits outweigh the downsides and I have already volunteered to test the portal.”
“What! You volunteered to test the portal!? I thought that the company would send people to test it!”dr. flight shouted
dr.sunny quietly responded, “the company didn’t have the staff to come and test it."
After dr. Sunny's response dr. flight was left speechless and the argument quickly faded out, they silently continued to build the portal and test it till it turned on the silence was deafening the tension could be cut with a knife and the clatter of metal against metal, and the static of the portals systems echoed throughout the rest of the day.
later when the portal was fully built and ready for testing as it finally turned on, the portal was a lilac colour with sparks flying around and swirling in a circular motion so fast that looking at it made people dizzy, it stood in the centre of the room half or the structure hidden by tables with chemicals, lab equipment and electronic parts like circuit boards and wires on them. Then dr. Sunny walked into the room followed by dr. flight, they walked up to the portal and dr. flight signaled to dr.sunny to go into the portal,there was a blinding light then dr.sunny had vanished what followed was silence and the humming coming from the portal.
dr.flight hadn’t expected it to work but there was no telling if it would keep working so he stood there for a while. Then dr. flight saw dr.sunny come back out of the portal she started recounting before dr.flight could ask anything about her adventure through the portal, “As I walked into the portal there was a bright flash of light then nothing but colours swirling around me I felt sick then i fell out the other side I fell on my face and could taste dirt and smell a forest around me, when I looked up I saw that I was in a forest clearing it was dark and the smell of blood was in the air, the sky was dark and a dark forest surrounded the clearing, the colours of everything was odd, it felt off somehow. Then I saw a dark figure standing in the trees, dark crimson eyes staring at me, it was terrifying. I was frozen in my spot still sitting on the grass. I watched it as it watched me then in a moment of panic I scrambled up and ran back through the portal.” dr. flight was stunned he stood there half listening to dr. Sunny's recount about the monster and how it looked, something caught his attention and he asked, “ could you repeat that.” dr. Sunny nodded and said, “As I was saying I think we should go with your idea to shut down the ‘Portal Project’ and finish the other projects we have pending.” she looked dr. flight to answer.
He stared at dr. sunny for a bit before saying, “Yes, i think that would be best.” while nodding to the idea “we should start with the paperwork for the other projects and a letter for management” dr.Sunny responded “yes, i’ll get working on that.”
By the next day they had prepared an argument that the ‘Portal Project’ should be shut down and abandoned as the worlds on the other side were dangerous and shouldn’t be let into our world, it seemed that the idea had too many flaws to continue and maybe in the future when they had a better understanding they could reopen the project, later that week the decision had been made the project would be shut down and the site had lingering energy from the portal so it had to be abandoned.
