Summary
Three months after leaving to attend Berkeley, Stiles receives a phone call. Twelve years later; Stiles and Derek's son, Eli, is eager to help when a new enemy emerges. The nemeton has been quieted, but things never remain silent forever. When a demonic force threatens the peace in Beacon Hills, the Hale pack must prove that they are stronger than ever.

You are in the backyard, lying in the grass. The sun is high and hot. The light is painting the darkness behind your eyes into a vermillion. “You know what you have to do, right?” Laura asks. Last you saw she was filling a wading pool, but the water has stopped running through the hose and as she moves you can hear it sloshing around her shins.
“No clue,” you answer. Laura laughs. You've missed that sound so much, and it makes you think about how long it took you after your family died to laugh again. “Last time we spoke you said my grief was too quiet… but it's been a while since I lost anyone.”
You hear the water slosh two more times as she steps out of the pool. She walks over to you and stands so close to your arm that you can feel how cold the water is from her feet.
“Who says grief must be fresh to be felt?”
