A Villain's Way to Survive

Summary:

The Breaking Dawn was an action novel that was once one of the best pieces of fiction Mydei had ever read.

Until everything suddenly went downhill as the story took a big change. The chapters became dull and repetitive, all previous character development was thrown away in favor of the new genre that wasn't even listed in the novel's online page.

But now Mydei was transmigrated into such a trashy novel, and as a side villain that was destined to die by the hands of the protagonist.

Chapter Text

The Breaking Dawn.

An online novel that had a high rating of 4.5 out of 5, and was known to contain over five hundred chapters.

You'd think that the novel must've been something quite unique if it had such high ratings. A wonderfully built world with memorable characters that bring tears to your eyes.

Mydei slammed his fist down below him. It thudded against the bed uselessly. He glared up at the message that stared right back down at him.

Phainon, the protagonist of The Breaking Dawn, was a young boy who was destined for greatness as he was blessed by the worldbearing god.

He had gained interest from Lady Aglaea thanks to this blessing. As he bled gold blood just like her. Thanks to Aglaea's help, the House of Mnestia took him in as one of their students despite the fact that he was coming from a small village that was in the middle of nowhere.

The House of Mnestia took in young members from royal or elite families and taught them royal etiquette and how to become powerful fighters.

While at the House of Mnestia, Phainon met many of his closest friends and worked hard to overcome fearsome enemies.

The protagonist of The Breaking Dawn had gained a triple digit harem in less than hundred chapters as the novel became one big harem slopfest. Even the rating had changed as all the contents were suddenly filled with nothing but papapa scenes between Phainon and his newfound wives.

Mydei liked to think of himself as a calm man who didn't get angry over such silly things. But, he couldn't help but feel his blood boil every time he paid for the newest chapter just to see another ludicrous papapa scene.

He wasn't even sure why he kept reading the trash novel. Maybe some part of him hoped that the plot would go back to what it previously was, even if the story seemed to be completely unfixable now.

Honestly he wasn't sure what to be more angry about. His energy slowly sapping away despite all his efforts to stay in shape and be healthy, or the fact that the last thing he read before dying was another chapter of Phainon marrying wife #174 before having papapa once again.

But right now he had a different reason to be angry.

Mydei was half naked as he laid down in an unfamiliar room, on an unfamiliar bed. He stared up at the roof, reading the message before him over and over again before his tired brain finally processed what was happening.

“What the fuck?” He ungracefully spoke, his voice raspy as he sat up. The room was bare, there was nothing but a bed, a dresser, and the bedside table. Mydei looked around for his clothes. He felt naked and uncomfortable in what little clothing he was in. He reached out only to realize that his hand was smaller.

Mydei looked in the dresser and found a mirror. The face that looked back at him glared alarm bells. The sudden text to speak like voice he heard in his head wasn't helping either.

[System activation successful! Welcome host, you currently own 100 points. ˶ˆᗜˆ˵]

“Points?” Mydei murmured under his breath as he kept staring into the mirror. He lightly pinched his cheek, feeling soft, smooth skin paired with a bit of pain. He looked a lot younger and smaller now.

[Points! You can earn them through completing missions and use them to progress throughout the story. But don't let your points go below zero or else punishment will be enacted!]

‘Punishments, missions, what the hell are you talking about?’ Mydri sighed as he rubbed his forehead, feeling an incoming headache.

[You have been transmigrated into the story of ‘The Breaking Dawn.’]

‘Transmigrated….?’ Mydei groaned as he finally put the mirror back into the closet. ‘Is this like one of those shitty fanfictions made by an uncreative adult with nothing better to do with their time?’

[The host should watch his language!]

Before Mydei could respond he heard the door open. His head whipped towards the door as his body tensed.

“Hephaestion had a scrawny figure unlike the other Kremnoans. But despite his looks, he was still just as strong if not even stronger then your average Kremnoan. Hephaestion was a relentless force that cut down one enemy after another with ease.”

Those words from the novel came to mind as Mydei looked at the boy in front of him. The boy wore a big grin as he lazily strolled over to Mydei with a strange drink in hand.

“Good morning princess! The days already almost over and here you are just waking up,” Hephaestion gave him a friendly yet soft pat on the shoulder. “How are you feeling, Mydeimos?”

“....Fine,” Mydei forced out, uncertain on how to respond. It was hard to believe that he was truly transmigrated into The Breaking Dawn, but the man before him made Mydei realize that it wasn't a dream. Everything was too real to be a dream, far too real.

‘Wait, he called me, Mydeimos,’ Mydei's breath quickened as his mind panicked. ‘Like the side villain in The Breaking Dawn? The one who was killed by Phainon? The Kremnoan prince that was crowned in blood?!’

“Hey, hey, deep breaths,” Hephaestion's smooth voice helped calm his nerves somewhat as he gently rubbed Mydei's shoulder. “Are those fools picking on you again? Just give us the word and we'll punt those Okhemans into the ground!”

Mydei slowly blinked, ‘Okhamans? So we're in Okhema.’

If he truly did transmigrate into Mydeimos, then it made sense that he was in Okhema.

Mydeimos was admittedly a character that had caught Mydei's attention. It wasn't just the names, but Mydeimos was also a complex character back when The Breaking Dawn was still good.

Mydeimos lived his life being loved by his mother yet feared by his father. The gold blood in his veins was proof that he was blessed by the god of strife, but the prices he had to pay was steep. He was fated to be crowned in blood, to kill thousands of men including his own father.

King Eurypon sent Mydeimos to The House of Mnestia in fear. Hoping that his son's blood thirst would be crushed by the stone cold hand of Lady Aglaea.

But that didn't fix anything. Mydeimos and his friends faced hostility from the people in the house and the people of Okhema. The only person that he seemed to not mind was Phainon of Aedes Elysiae.

The first time the two met they got into a fight which made them into rivals. Throughout their time in the House of Mnestia they continuously challenged one another.

But then Mydeimos found out about Phainon being the ‘Perfect Deliverer,’ and suddenly turned on him. This was the mark of when everything started to change in The Breaking Dawn. Mydeimos threw Phainon down a canyon to be devoured by the black tide residing in it.

After eight grueling years, Phainon crawled his way out but wasn't the same. He was no longer the ‘Perfect Deliverer,’ and now paid the price for his golden blood just like all the other ‘blessed’ individuals.

So in other words, Mydei was sort of screwed. Fate was meant to be something unchanging in The Breaking Dawn, and if he was truly Mydeimos, then he was fated to be crowned in blood.

Mydei grabbed the drink Hephaestion was offering to him in a daze, uncaring as to what it was. It tasted sweet, yet tart. The fruity flavor of pomegranate flooded his mouth, but it was followed by something early as well. Something that made the pomegranate juice creamy and tangy.

“....Goat milk?” Mydei licked his lips, chasing over the unfamiliar but not unwelcomed flavor.

“Your favorite! I don't get why though, I feel like the milk sort of ruins the smooth texture,” Hephaestion teased him as Mydei quickly downed the rest of the drink. Quenching the thirst he didn't realize he had.

“It's creamy and nice,” Mydei mumbled as he handed the cup back to Hephaestion. “Don't judge me.”

Hephaestion light heartily chuckled, “Alright princess, I'll stop for now. Don't forget to come on class on time tomorrow, Lady Aglaea excused you for today since you were sick but she won't be happy if you miss another day.”

Mydei nodded as he watched Hephaestion leave the room. But as soon as the door closed his could just barely make out faint coughing.

Coughing that reminded him of his final days. Raspy and painful as his lungs tried to escape his body. His final moments were horrifying and dreadful, despite being terminally ill, Mydei did everything in his power to survive and become strong.

Only to succumb to his illness anyways.

Just like how Hephaestion did. The same day Mydeimos returned home with his friends, Hephaestion's illness had hit it's peak and was rapidly killing him.

Despite his request for a skillful doctor to cure his friend, King Eurypon did not help Mydeimos and instead left him to find a doctor on his own.

By the time Mydeimos did find a capable doctor, Hephaestion was long gone.

Not long after did Castrum Kremnos follow, as Mydeimos called for war against the king. He and his mentor ruthlessly killed fellow Kremnoans to earn the crown.

But the war took from both sides. As one by one, all of Mydeimos’ closest companions and friends died.

A king crowned in blood, King Mydeimos.

Who Mydei now is and fated to become.

Mydei flopped down on the bed, grunting as he hit to silky sheets. He closed his eyes and shoved those thoughts to the back of his mind. What was even the point of him transmigrating if he was going to be fated to be killed again?

Was there even a point to all of this?
