Notes:

I currently have about 60,000 words of this written… and it’s the longest thing I’ve ever written and I’m so proud of myself even if my plot went for a walk and like stayed lost in the woods for a bit.
Like damn, good going me.

Please enjoy chapter 1 :>

Chapter Text

The once hectic battlefield fell into a stunned silence at the sight of two of the multiverse's biggest power houses hitting the floor with an unimaginably bright flash of light.

The exact cause was unknown, no one being close enough to see it as the fight between the Creator and the Destroyer had been particularly vicious that day, but the outcome was clear.

Both skeletal beings were down and out for the count; lying unconscious in the middle of the half destroyed AU;  Their bodies crumpled to the floor in a tangle of Limbs, Clothes and discarded Attacks.

The Razor thin Blue strings previously tangling and pulling apart the world quietly dissolved into the air while Ink-made Constructs melted into viscous black puddles of goop that stained the ground with a splash.

A beat of Panicked and confused silence before their opponents pounced on it like a cat would with an unsuspecting field mouse: Throwing attack after attack at the worried allies of the God of Creation.

Blue grit his teeth, War Hammer held firmly in hand, trying not to feel overwhelmed as he valiantly defended against a vicious flurry of Blows from Killer; Nightmare’s right hand man. The other was relentless when they sensed weakness. ‘But that’s okay’, blue thought, ‘after all, I’m relentless too.’

And then, an unexpected mistake from Killer. An over extension of his knife wielding arm, their feet slipped, they looked away for a beat too long. It was hard to fully tell with the speed at which they were exchanging blows but whatever it was… it was An opening!

Blue took a steadying breath as his war hammer finally connected with his Opponent, the powerful impact sending them Flying farther than either of them expected across the battlefield, as the final citizens from the collapsing AU were swiftly ushered through the last Open portal behind him and into the Omega timeline where it snapped shut behind them.

Without another thought, his magic weapon was dismissed and he was sprinting across the battlefield: eyes locked on his collapsed friend.

…Ink…

He knew he would have to grab Ink immediately and get out of there. They were not having much good luck on their side today and Nightmare’s gang had been incredibly on point with their plan of attack: causing mayhem and madness to distract them while the God of Destruction, Error, did his job to bring the world back into nothingness it came from.

He spied the Dark Tentacled form of the King of Negativity, Nightmare, making his way steadily across the battlefield in their direction. Tentacles whipping about in a flurry of motion and Fire burning in the Singular eye light he had unwaveringly trained on the unconscious forms of the two Gods. He had to hurry.

The code of the world still steadily crumbled around them even with the Destroyer out of commission: The process was already too far along to be stopped.

He skidded to an unsteady halt as he finally got a close look at the two passed out Skeletons.

“What the fuck?”

Blue didn’t swear often, but this? This definitely merited it.

“Blue! Hurry up!” Dream, the Guardian of Positivity, was holding open a new blazing gold portal a short distance away: he was already making his way through with haste as he skillfully shot golden arrows at the approaching Enemies to keep them back. “Grab him and let’s go!”

And he didn’t think as he scooped up not only Ink’s unconscious body but Error’s as well.

With both bodies safely in arm, the short skeleton sprinted with all his might for the glowing portal, just barely managing to dodge a thrashing tentacle from Nightmare who had finally gotten close enough to attack, and dived inside.

“Boss! Error is down-”

He was cut off when he heavily collided with a glitching tree after being thrown across the battlefield by Blue’s lucky hit.

Looking up from his landing place, he saw Nightmare’s eyes go sharp like Flint as he swiftly made his way across the chaos that the landscape had become during battle; now firmly locked on the form of Blue hovering above the two unmoving bodies.

With a steadying breath, He tucked his knife back into his pocket and hauled himself up off the ground. Yikes. That did NOT feel good.

His leg twinged painfully when he put his weight on it. He knew he’d have to take it easy once they got back to the castle if he didn’t want it getting worse.

The trek back over to the main battlefield was almost irritatingly long, having to awkwardly limp over debris and through scattered dust, and only made slightly better when he almost tripped on a forgotten item. His foot hit That stupid Paint Brush the God of Creation always carried around with him causing it to roll slightly across the snow covered ground.

His ever present grin widened marginally as he scooped it up from the ground. It was heavy but he managed.

Boss would be pleased.

Nightmare’s tentacles thrashed about the rapidly decaying landscape with a poorly concealed rage as he watched the golden portal firmly snap shut behind his enemies retreating backs.

His thoughts raced out of control. They had taken Error! What for? What were they going to do with him?!

They had all seen Error and that Incorrigible interfering Ink-stain of a Creator collapsed to the ground but no one had been close enough to reach them in time and now he was gone.

None of them had been captured by the Star Sans Team before but he doubted that they’d torture him. They were too… ‘goody-goody’ for that… But the infamous ‘Star Council’ as people called it, consisted of many of their enemies beyond their three main fighters: Ink, Dream and Blue: There was no telling what the rest of them would do. There were too many variables.

“Sorry Boss. They got away.”

Killer had limped his way over to stand beside him while he had stared blankly at the space the portal had been.

Horror, Dust and Cross (each sporting various injuries of their own just like Killer) hung back out of range of his still Writhing tentacles, snapping and whipping about without direction, unlike Killer who had no fear of being hit. The little maniac.

“Did anyone see what happened to him?” The voice that came out of him was ice cold, prompting various ‘No’s’ to echo out across the Battlefield from his underlings. Running a hand across his face, he let out a shaken breath. Just great.

“Right…”

“Did get this though!” Came the smug voice of Killer as he holds up, with some struggle due to its weight, the forgotten Weapon of Ink. The giant Paint Brush that had caused them all so many issues over the years.

The short skeleton had trouble dragging it through the dirt to lift it for them all to see until Nightmare’s tentacles plucked it carefully out of his grasp.

“Might come in useful.”

A grin stretched wide across his face in typical Gremlin like fashion and Nightmare couldn’t stop his own face twisting into a Matching grin. Oh yes, this would come in useful indeed.

Without warning, a loud ear splitting crack swept across the Carnage left behind from the previous battle causing them all to briefly freeze in place for a second.

In all the chaos, they had all forgotten that Error had initiated this world's end before Ink could stop him- the last moments of battle being purely used to help those who had survived into Core!frisks timeline. The building blocks of the world were crumbling around them: breaking into code and falling away into a familiar empty space: and they couldn’t stay here for any longer than this or they would be brought down with it.

Without a second thought, Nightmare pulled on that little part of his magic that felt like taking a leap of faith across a large void and pulled open his own Swirling Portal, its edges tinged a poisonous purple, and quickly ushered his four idiots though it.

Stepping through himself, he took one look back at the crackling landscape with its melting sky as it fell into the slowly expanding darkness of the void and hoped that Error, wherever he had been taken, could escape on his own.

He looked over his boys. They all looked exhausted.

The adrenaline of battle had been wearing off and it had finally hit them all in one fell swoop. With just how exhausted they were No one would even have the energy to consider looking for Error at the moment.

Right now… they all needed rest.

Notes:

It’s been ages since I’ve done a multi chapter. I’m really looking forward to putting chapter titles in :>

I’m trying my best to reply to comments recently. It’s been going well.

All the AU creators are in the series notes.
