Eclipse left him home alone again. It was the, what, third time this week? He wished he spent more time with him. It’s been a while. The only time Eclipse spoke to him anymore was to ask how his progress in befriending Sun and Moon was going.
He said he’d be back in an hour, Its been five. After who knows how long of playing with the few toys Eclipse agreed to buy him, he finally came back. Lunar ran over and hugged him, “Eclipse!”
Eclipse pushed him away. “Get off of me.”
Lunar stumbled backwards, almost falling. “Oh,” he looked down sadly, “Sorry.”
“I’m going to my office.” Eclipse started walking away.
“Wait-” Lunar grabbed his brother’s pant leg.
“I said get off of me!” Eclipse grabbed Lunar by the back of his shirt, throwing him into the counter. All that could be heard was the smack of Lunar’s head against the stainless steel, followed by angry footsteps and the door to Eclipse’s office slamming shut.
All Lunar could hear was ringing. He felt something dripping from the back of his head. He touched it and looked. It was red. It was red and it was coming from him. And Eclipse didn't care. He tried to get up but couldn't, he was stuck and-
Lunar woke up, gasping for air. It was just a dream. He didn't like those types of dreams, they were more like memories. Bad, bad memories.
He felt a tear fall from his eye, and as he started to beat himself up for being a baby, his phone rang.
Pollux. It was just Pollux. He could answer her. He quickly wiped his eyes and answered. “Uhm, hi?”
“Hiiii! I can’t wait to show you what I foun- are you okay?” She looked concerned, staring at Lunar through the screen.
He sniffled. “Uh, yeah. I’m fine.” It sounded like a lie even to Lunar. “Just had a nightmare, it’s okay though.”
“I’m coming over.”
“No, no, really! It's fine!”
He heard a 𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘬 and Pollux was right in front of him.
She ran over and sat down on the bed next to him. “What was your nightmare about?” Pollux put her hand on his head, gently brushing through the silver and blue hair.
“It was really nothing I-”
“Lunar.” Pollux raised a brow at him.
“It was- it was about Eclipse.”
She looked at him with pity, going to brush through his hair again but abruptly stopping. “Lunar, you’re burning up!”
“What?” Lunar put his hand on his forehead. “I feel fine.”
“Hold on.” She got up, returning a few minutes later with a thermometer. She put it up to his forehead, clicking the button and briefly waiting. 102 degrees. She showed him the screen.
“Damn.”
She sat down next to him again, starting to play with his hair again. “Do you wanna talk about it or do you just want me to sit here?”
He put his head on her shoulder. “Just sit here, please.”
And so, they sat like that until Lunar fell asleep. Pollux stayed up, she’d always gotten up quite early and 5AM wasn’t a strange time for her to be up. Lunar woke up about three hours later, no longer next to Pollux but covered in two more blankets than he remembered falling asleep under. The other difference he found was how much he missed being able to breathe through his nose, his mouth was dry as fuck. She returned a few minutes later to tell him that she made breakfast and to get up and into the kitchen to eat it.
God, Lunar had never felt so 𝘭𝘶𝘤𝘬𝘺.
