Raspen almost didn’t want to show it, ashamed of the pretensions of the Council and of half of the names in the cursed list. It hadn’t always looked as it did now. It used to have three times the names in it, but suggestion after suggestion to narrow it down had left it with fourteen names.
Still, he gingerly passed on the paper. No words were said, but they weren’t needed. Alcandor’s face said it all. “See, I told you it was bad.”
Dawne frowned, her list wasn’t that bad. How awful could Raspen’s be? Tired of being the only one without having seen it, she snatched the paper away. “Let me see,” Dawne read a few more names before her head shot up, eyes wide with disbelief. “They are making you choose a Submissive?”
