Work Text:
Dear cousin,
I have survived another ball. The horrors of matchmaking persist. Due to Bingley’s badgering I have braved the treacherous floors of dancing. My toes have suffered immensely. Good God, but Bingley is a very trying friend when he behaves like some dancing hungry leech. He has danced every dance at the assembly, even the Cotillion. Who could compete, really. Certainly, not me. I have danced with Caroline, and speaking of dancing leeches, only Louisa seems to have avoided this family trait.
If you think that I have spent the bigger part of the evening hiding in a corner, you are obviously right. I have fought Bingley to reach it safely. Not with fists! Words! I know what you are thinking, it must have been even more bloody. Don't worry, I think I have handled it quite well.
Sincerely,
Your cousin, Fitzwilliam Darcy
