Chapter Text
Izuku stared hard at Swordfish. The fluffy creature stared back.
“You’re more of a demon than I am.” Izuku whispered as his eyes narrowed. The cat meowed back.
“Izu! Don’t be mean to my baby!” Yamada gasped, pulling Swordfish into his arms to cuddle her. Izuku could have sworn the cat was giving him a smug look.
“She started it.” Izuku huffed after giving Swordfish a death glare that did nothing to her.
“We have a meeting with Nezu.” Aizawa said, which had Izuku tilting his head in confusion. “Why?” “He has some questions. Frankly, I do too.”
Izuku obediently followed behind the two heroes. He occasionally went invisible and intangible to avoid students that didn’t know about him yet, but he still messed with a few of them by making them hear a random noise, such as Swordfish’s meow, in the chaos of the hallway for a split second.
“Hello, Izuku. It’s a pleasure to see you again.” “The pleasure is mine, Nezu. How are you?” “I’m doing well. How are you?” “Swimmingly.” Izuku hummed with a wide grin.
“Now, I hope you wouldn’t mind me asking a few questions. It’s nothing bad, just a few things I’d like you to clarify to stave off my curiosity.” Nezu said. “Of course. Ask away, though I cannot promise I’ll answer depending on what the questions are.” “That’s completely understandable.” Nezu smiled as Izuku took his seat on the other end of the table with Aizawa and Yamada siding on the opposite sides between him and Nezu.
“I’d like to ask Izuku, what exactly are you?” Nezu asked. “Um… Well…” Izuku leaned back in his chair, letting some black scales emerge across his skin.
“I’m what humans would refer to as a god. I am an otherworldly creature with a very wide range of abilities and strength beyond comprehension. If you’re asking how I was made, well, I just was. One day, I just appeared. I don’t have parents, if that’s another question you were planning on asking.” Izuku finally decided.
“How are you related to your aunt and uncle?” Yamada asked next.
“Ah, well, I’m my uncle’s future replacement, I suppose.” Izuku hummed before giggling. “Let’s start from the beginning, since I’m sure this is really what you want.”
Izuku shifted until he was more comfortable in the chair before continuing, which was actually just to build some suspense.
“The afterlife, as you call it, is split in half. There are two parts to it that are equal in power, strength, and value. One isn’t inherently good or bad. They just balance each other out based on what’s needed.” Izuku explained, moving his hands as if drawing in the air.
“The afterlife stretches across not just this planet, but all of this reality. Everything within this universe that lives and dies. When they die, they go to one of the afterlife halves. They’re very important. As such, they both have rulers. Because both halves are equal, they have equally powerful and influential rulers as well. I don’t know much about the first rulers. What I do know, is that once a ruler is tired with their job as a ruler, reality itself will begin crafting a replacement for them out of stardust and other energy. Usually, the replacement lives for a few hundred years before taking over so the ruler they’re replacing can rest.”
Izuku paused, giving the other three in the room a chance to speak up if they wished.
“Here’s the thing… My uncle and aunt aren’t ready to give up yet. The… I don’t know this reality? It made me by accident.” Izuku admitted with a sheepish grin. Yamada’s jaw dropped while Nezu’s eyes gleaned with interest.
“You see… My aunt and uncle are actually the first rulers to ever fall in love with one another. Because of that, they wish to rule for a much longer time than expected. Whatever made us wasn’t used to the change, so I was created. I haven’t been around long, but even when it would typically be my time to take over I’m not going to. Hell, as it’s often referred to, is my uncle’s for the next however long he wants it.”
“Then what will you do, Problem Child?” Aizawa asked. Izuku smiled. “Help around Earth. I claimed this place as mine. If I can’t rule an afterlife, I can protect a living planet from the sidelines. That’s why I’m known as the Prince of Hell. I’m my uncle’s successor, but I won’t be taking the throne.”
“Can you tell us more about your aunt and uncle?” Nezu requested.
Izuku leaned forward to rest his chin on his palm. “Um… Well, I can’t say much. I need permission. I can tell you their human names. They selected them recently because of my suggestion when talking with them a while ago. They’ve selected the names Inko, Ruler of the upper half of the afterlife, Goddess of Blessings, Small Miracles, Revenge, etc. Then there’s Hisashi, ruler of the lower half of the afterlife, God of Pride, Devotion, Truth, Holidays, etc.”
“So that’s what you meant about our names being similar.” Hizashi laughed.
“May I ask what they’re like and what they’re capable of?” “If you’re worried about them being a threat to Earth, don’t worry about it. Hisashi has plenty of self control. He normally would have handled the nomu thing himself, but he’s trusting me entirely regarding Earth matters. Inko… Well, she’s really scary, but she never gets involved personally with planets. Not after the last time she showed up on one in a bad mood.”
“What happened then?” Aizawa asked. “The planet exploded from her impacting it. There wasn’t any life on the planet! She was just mad a flower she was working on failed!” Izuku quickly reassured the trio when their eyes went wide. “It was a small planet!” Izuku added quickly before calming himself.
“Yeah… She’s benevolent but scary.” Izuku laughed, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Oh…” Yamada murmured, still looking shell-shocked.
“Eh, that was when she was still pretty new. Nowadays, she’d just cause a natural disaster or two. Like a tornado or hurricane. Not horrible, but not good.”
“Izuku, if possible, would you ever live a life on Earth?” Nezu asked. Izuku hummed again with a small frown. “That’s only possible if I reincarnate myself. Give myself a human or animal body and seal away most if not all of my power and a good majority of my memories. I’ve thought about it, more so recently, but I don’t know how to live as a human. Not really.”
“What if we help you?” Izuku's head snapped up at Aizawa’s suggestion. “What?” He asked. “Hizashi and I already agreed to have you live in our place when you’re on Earth anyway. If you’d like to live on Earth, we’d support you.” Aizawa said. “Yeah! That sounds like a blast!” Hizashi agreed.
Izuku smiled slightly as he scratched his cheek. “I’ll think about it. Promise.”
