The Flower Girl

Summary:

Kakashi is bullied into being the guide for the delegation from Hana no Kuni. A small, hidden, once secluded shinobi village. It’s punishment for letting Naruto use his pervy jutsu in front of Kushina-nee. (He’ll never leave him alone with Jiraiya ever again.)

But when he goes to greet the delegation at the main gates, he doesn’t find crusty old windbag elders, like he expected.

Instead, he is greeted by the most brightly colored people outside of shinobis he’s seen from Kirigakure.

The head of the delegation also happens to be the Hanakage’s daughter.

Notes:

Happy Birthday, Kakashi~~~!!!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"I don’t see why I’m the only one getting punished,” he complains to his father.

Kakashi is slowly and begrudgingly putting on his jōnin attire.

Sakumo chuckles from the doorway of his son’s bedroom, “Obito-kun would actually enjoy this assignment. That’s why he’s being forced to do paperwork all day beside Shikaku.”

The younger Hatake stops to pause at that.

Dobe would enjoy making new friends.

Sighing, he fixes his hitai-ate across his forehead, “Let’s get this over with.”

Sakumo laughs and claps his hand on Kakashi’s shoulder.

At the front gate, Kakashi nods at the familiar presence of the new chūnin guards, Kotetsu and Izumo.

By his side, Asuma smokes the last of his cigarette.

“This is going to be a drag..” The older man groans. “Having to entertain a bunch of old geezers from some backwater village.”

Kakashi hums, but doesn’t verbally agree, “How’d you get stuck with delegation duty anyway?”

A puff of smoke, “My old lady caught me sneaking back home from Kurenai’s.”

Kakashi’s brow furrows, “How’d she know you were with her?”

“Women’s intuition?” Asuma shrugs, just as unsure.

Kakashi doesn’t get to reply back something smart, because several chakra signatures begin to come closer to the gate.

They straighten up as the five signatures are soon accompanied by five blurry figures.

They maintain a diamond formation as they come up to the gate, protecting someone in the center. The person in the center is not visible due to the mesh surrounding the wide-brimmed hat and the traveler's robe covering their build. But judging by their height, they must be seriously old. The surrounding guards(?) are built like titans.

Every single shinobi in his line of sight, though, has hair in a pastel shade. At the forefront is an older man, around Kakashi’s dad’s age. He has a scar bisecting his right eye and pastel blue hair in a fishtail braid.

For a shinobi from a flowery village, they all have large builds… Their hair colors could be flower petal shades.

Kakashi steps forward, “Welcome to Konohagakure no Sato, my name is Hatake Kakashi. Student of the Yondaime Hokage, Uzumaki-Namikaze Minato.”

Asuma introduces himself next, “Sarutobi Asuma, Shugonin Jūnishi member and son of the Sandaime Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen.”

The large woman to the right of the frontman with pastel blonde hair sneers, “They couldn’t even send a proper senior administrator to come greet us?”

“Sending children with no proper title in the village administration as the delegation welcome committee?” The man to the right of the formation whispers harshly. His hair is a pastel green shade.

Though Kakashi can only hear it because of his Hatake senses.

Which makes him mad.

Not just because they’re insulting him, but undermining Minato-sensei and what anyone tied to him represents.

“Excuse me? What did you ju-”

A soft giggle dances in the wind, “At ease, Akiko. Hiroyuki. I’m sure the Hokage meant no offense if he sent one of his three students and a Daimyō’s guard.”

Suddenly, all four guards step back and line up in a row behind the previously hidden from view member.

Kakashi can’t focus on their smooth soldier-like movement, though. Because the voice that just spoke did not belong to an old woman. Not even a middle-aged woman.

Is the person beneath that-

Small porcelain hands hidden in a billowing scarlet sleeve, part of the front of the peach traveler’s robe, revealing an ankle-length white trim, scarlet qipao with long slits that go up well past her thighs. Thighs covered in ridiculously short athletic shorts. There is a black obi around the waist, just above wide hips. Besides the kunoichi issued high-heeled sandals, Kakashi can see nothing more of the body.

Which is fine because he finds himself gaping at the face no longer hidden behind the wide-brimmed hat with mesh.

His heart immediately starts to pound rapidly in his chest. The previous spring breeze feels like summer heat as Kakashi’s face flushes and his palms sweat.

He has never been more thankful for his mask in this moment.

Beneath that hat was a heart-shaped face, full, pouty lips, a button nose, rose-dusted cheeks, and almond eyes holding emeralds. This is topped off with pearl pink hair and a five-pointed sakura blossom pattern in the center of her forehead.

“Our apologies, Sakura-hime.”

All four guards bow at the waist.

A quick look around, and Kakashi is relieved to see Asuma, Izumo, Kotetsu, and all others within the vicinity are just as spellbound as him.

She steps forward, and both Kakashi and Asuma have to hold back the urge to step back for some reason. The girl- woman(?) is shorter than them, but the aura surrounding her reminds him of Tsunade-hime or even a kage.

Kakashi shakes her hand first, noting the callouses that tell a tale of hard work. These were definitely the hands of a shinobi, not a simple civilian princess.

(He is silently thankful for the gloves he wears that hide his palm sweat. He is also thankful for the mask for blocking most of her natural peach scent. It smelled so~ good. His canines itch, and his throat threatens to rumble when she shakes Asuma’s hand.)

She retracts her hand afterwards and gives them a sunny grin, “Hello, Hatake-san, Sarutobi-san. My name is Haruno Sakura, daughter of Hanakage, Haruno Kizashi, and heiress to the Haruno Clan.”

Judging by the amused glint in her jade eyes and growing smirk, she has seen the way Kakashi swallowed harshly.

“Good afternoon, Hokage-sama,” Haruno Sakura greets with an elegant nod.

“Sakura-chan!” Minato-sensei exclaims, standing up with arms wide open, “You’ve grown up splendidly. I remember when you barely came up to my waist.”

She laughs loudly and unabashedly, “You’ve aged well yourself, Minato-san.”

The two hug like family members who haven’t seen each other in years.

“How is Mebuki-chan?” Minato asks as he sits back down.

Kakashi, Obito, and Asuma are on one side of the office. Obito hadn’t stopped gaping at Sakura. He gets it; it took him a minute to get used to her visuals as well. He’s trying his hardest not to stare at the woman. Ever since she removed her traveler's robe, he’s desperately wished her to put it back on. The qipao is sleeveless with a high collar. Her shoulders are wide but lean with muscle. There is a triangle opening above her (ample) cleavage, covered with mesh armor. The back is completely open as well, but thankfully hidden by her waterfall of carnation pink hair.

Her guards watch them from the other side of the office. Their hulking figures made the office seem smaller than it really was. Their stoic faces could give the Uchiha and Hyūga clans a run for their money.

Sakura smiles softly, “She brought a bunch of gifts and letters for you.”

Spotting the confused looks of the Konoha shinobi, Sakura grins and elaborates, “Years ago, Minato-san happened upon our family during our vacation and found out he and my mother are long-lost relatives.”

Kakashi is back to gaping at the woman before him.

Apparently, their village is super secluded, and it was purely by chance that Minato-sensei met his cousin.

Just as it was purely by chance that a few weeks ago, their extremely secluded village learned he had become a kage and that peace was established between the nations.

After the first initial meeting and setting a date for allyship talks, Sakura asked to look around the village. Her guards went to secure their abode for their stay.

This is how Kakashi finds himself acting as a tour guide but also babysitting.

“Whoa…” Naruto, who had poorly snuck up on them with Sasuke in tow, stares wide-eyed at Sakura. “Are.. are you real?”

“Don’t be a dobe, dobe,” Hisses Sasuke, blushing like a maiden but sneaking peeks at her. “Of course she’s real.”

“Aren’t you two just the cutest!” The Hanagakure heiress coos as she crouches to be eye-level with the seven-year-olds. “Who are you?”

Sasuke blushes harder and scuffs his feet in the dirt, unable to look her in the eyes, “Uchiha Sasuke.”

“I’m Uzumaki Naruto, dattebayo!” Naruto is blushing wildly as he screams his name.

Sakura giggles, and Kakashi wants to drown in it.

The boys devolve into a petty argument, and she grins at him, amused.

Sakura takes to the hospital like a fish to water. Having had a foundation in iryō-ninjutsu already, Tsunade immediately throws the heiress into surgeries. She begins correcting Sakura’s bad habits from her shōsen jutsu, going over theories, and trading techniques.

Shizune is frothing at the mouth to find another like-minded poison mistress. Kakashi saw them enter Shizune’s personal lab in the morning, came back well after 8 pm to find them still whispering conspiratorily in the same spot. Someone had brought them food, though, judging from the take-out containers surrounding them.

Rin is eager to exchange ninjutsu affinity theories and applications in medicine with the rosette. The nurses, doctors, and iryō-nin watch, absolutely gobsmacked, as a foreigner with the color scheme of a cherry blossom tree wins over the top three administrators of the hospital.

That first Saturday, all four women go to Shushu-ya and get absolutely plastered. Well, Rin and Shizune do. Tsunade and Sakura had entered a drinking contest that soon became redundant because, apparently, Sakura can metabolize alcohol just as well as Tsunade.

By the end of the night, Tsunade is promised extremely rare herbs that would typically be impossible to find outside of Hi no Kuni, and Sakura is promised a modern iryō-nin curriculum and connection to a trustworthy medical supplier.

“How on earth did you beat Tsunade-sama?” Kakashi has to ask as he walks her back to her ambassador suite.

The sun is just beginning to rise, and Sakura doesn’t even have the decency to look winded or drunk. Besides a fading blush across her cheeks and nose, one wouldn’t think she spent the night competing with Konoha’s biggest alcoholic.

Sakura hums, clasping her hands behind her back as she lightly skips forward. The ambassador's building is a few meters before them.

Spinning on her heel, she grins at him and winks, “Tsunade burned the alcohol when it was in her system. I burned it from the cup.”

Sakura then disappears in a flurry of sakura petals.

Kakashi clutches his stomach and laughs.

“... Damn Hatake,” Genma whistles, eyes trained on Sakura, who is looking through their produce market. “You wanna trade missions? I’d be happy to take on this diplomatic mission for you.”

Kakashi ignores him, focused on the way Sakura nods at what the merchants are saying. Genma invited himself to the seat Sakura had just left to go mingle with the merchants. His fingers idly spin his customary senbon.

(He vehemently withholds the urge to threaten him with Shizune.)

“How long is she and her group here for?” Raidou questions, the scar on his face scrunches as he tries to make heads or tails of Sakura’s visuals.

His canines itch the longer more and more of the men in his age group continue to stare and leer at Sakura. He’s never felt this way before, and he desperately longs for his father to come home from his two-day mission and explain them. He’d ask his uncles or aunts, but they’d tease him and make his life hell for hours before they even deigned to tell him.

(He has an inkling about them, but he refuses to confirm the emotions. The theory. Because it could lead to trouble and heartache.)

Sakura comes back, eyes bright with knowledge, and Kakashi responds, “For three more weeks.”

“Did you learn anything?” He asks the excited rosette..

Sakura blinks up at him and beams, “Yes! It’s interesting to be in a village that isn’t self-sustaining and has to import most of its produce.”

Obito furrows his brows, “Your village doesn’t import produce?”

Sakura raises a brow, “Of course not. We grow just about everything. We grow our own produce and trade with each other for things like meat and whatnot.”

They all exchange looks of shock, and Kurenai has to ask, “Even fruits that can only grow in certain seasons?”

Sakura laughs, “Seasons mean nothing in Hana no Kuni. Not while the Haruno clan resides there, at least.”

Kakashi frowns, “What does that mean?”

Jade eyes blink in confusion, and Sakura raises her right hand, palm up.

“Because the plants grown by a Haruno do not wither, no matter what.”

She then grows a bushel of hydrangea.

From thin air.

GASP.

SPIT.

SHATTER.

Kakashi gapes, “... Mokuton.”

Apparently, the Haruno clan and Hanagakure as a whole have access to mokuton

A kekkai genkai previously believed to belong only to the Senju.

They’ve used this technique to hide their village away from the world, undisturbed, for centuries. Nearly a millennium.

The only reason Minato-sensei even met Mebuki-san was because she, her husband, and daughter had been on a family trip outside the village walls. Something the next village head in line is allowed to do before he takes the hat.

(They evolved into a shinobi village around the time word had spread about other villages popping up.)

And not everyone born into the Haruno clan can use mokuton, but anyone in the village with the skill for it must marry into the clan, as they are eligible to be the next kage.

And yes, Minato-sensei definitely did not know about it.

(Judging by his wide eyes and gaping mouth.)

The Senju elders gape at the Hanagakure delegation.

Senju Tsunade, director of the hospital, gapes at the Hanagakure delegation.

Tenzō, the experiment they rescued from Orichimaru and Danzō that Tsunade adopted, gapes at the Hanagakure delegation.

“So you mean to tell us that mokuton is not a kekkai genkai, but a release created by equal doton & suiton affinities, senjutsu, and chakra control above the 95th percentile?” Tsunade asks, voice strained.

The Haruno delegation shares eye contact with each other, clearly concerned and slightly judging, but it’s Sakura who nods.

“...You thought it was related to bloodlines?” She asks warily. “And this young man is a byproduct of some deranged men with perverse ideals?”

The eldest man in their group, Hiroyuki, glares at them, his entire countenance displeased.

“I think it's best we rethink our… alliance, Haruno-hime.”

“WHAT!?” The Senju elders all cry out in alarm.

Sakura ignores them, crosses her arms, and nods, “I am inclined to agree. I apologize, Hokage-sama, but I believe it’d be best if we leave.”

“Not without a DNA test!” An elder holding a cane growls.

The temperature within the office drops immediately.

Sakura, who had crossed her arms in contemplation, has since dropped them and stares hauntingly at the elder who just spoke.

Kakashi begins to feel lightheaded as the air seems to thin, but his pulse is loud in his ears as he watches the absolutely bloodthirsty look on Sakura’s face.

(He thinks he feels the entire Hokage Tower shaking, but he must be dizzy.)

“Excuse me?”

Another elder sneers, “It is officially recorded that mokuton is a Senju kekkai genkai. As such, it needs to be managed by Konoha and the Senju clan. You can’t walk around claiming to use such a thing and deny Senju ancestry!”

Sakura steps forward.

Exactly one step.

The Senju elders scurry back, and the ANBU hiding, shift tensely.

“Exactly how many Senju have had mokuton, not including Hashirama and this poor child before us, in recent years?”

The silence is deafening.

Another step forward.

Minato and Tsunade have not moved once, but they do furrow their brows at her. Kakashi’s hackles begin to rise. His instincts howl at the tension and aggressive looks put on her.

“So… no one then?” Sakura mocks. “In the last 60 years alone, our village has borne 12 mokuton capable citizens. Six of which came directly from the blood of the Haruno family. Four from other clans within the village with no blood relation. And two from families that married into the village.”

The shock is palpable.

Staring at Tsunade, Sakura demands, “Do the DNA test.”

The test comes back false.

After that one interaction, ruined completely by the Senju elders, the Hanagakure delegation completely shuts down. There are no more friendly smiles. No kind remarks or open admiration.

Sakura only goes to meetings to discuss trade and ally terms and back to her suite. No longer exploring the village and seeing its infrastructure. The interaction with the Senju elders clearly destroyed her impression of the village.

The disdain is clear in the face of her guards, who have let her take charge of the meetings.

As it turns out, Haruno Sakura was a very harsh negotiator.

She made no concessions. Offered no substitutions. She wanted black and white rules and terms, with little room for loopholes.

“You’d think she was a lawyer or from the Daimyō’s court, with that ruthlessness,” Asuma mutters beside him. Sakura sits in the center of the table given to her group. She flips through the scrolls before her with the boredom of a veteran dignitary and the calculation of an accountant.

The worst part of it, she gets her way. The fauxpoise from the Senju elders, in their attempt to claim ownership in misguided patriotism (pride), had burned bridges.

“Shikaku-san and the other Naras have had their shadows in a twist because they want her to join the village,” Obito adds. “She’s quick and efficient. If not for the Senju elders ruining this, I think we’d actually see a smile on his face.”

Kakashi withholds a sigh.

He didn’t care about any of that. He never thought he’d say this, but he wants to go back to the time when she first arrived. When she was smiling, teasing, laughing…

Don’t get him wrong, this stone-cold demeanor she wears now has his Hatake instincts howling in lust. He kinda wants to fight her now, to see if her physical prowess is as good as her medical and diplomatic ones.

She’d have to be, He decides. I don’t think they’d let her be deputy Kage if she weren’t powerful.

“Can I help you, Hatake-san?”

Kakashi flinches at the way she addresses him, and his Hatake instincts growl in disapproval. None of that stops him from stepping up to sit down atop the Shodaime's head beside her.

“I’m sorry.”

She scoffs, “What on earth do you have to be sorry for?”

“For the way this trip turned unpleasant,” he explains. “You nor anyone in your group should have had to deal with that.”

Sakura finally turns to look at him, and her expression is unimpressed, “Then the people who did the insulting should be apologizing, not you.”

Fair enough…

“You do understand the significance of your presence and revelation, right?”

“I’m not an idiot, Hatake. I understand why a noble clan that took pride in their fearless leader’s ability would hold it sacred.”

He furrows his brows at her, “Then why a-”

“Why am I so fucking pissed?”

His dark gray eyes widen in shock at her profanity.

“I’m pissed because of the absolute lack of respect they showed me and my people. The way they tried to dominate us because of some worthless pride that barely even belongs to them,” Sakura growls.

She stands up and begins pacing, and Kakashi stands up with her, trying to keep her calm.

“We stayed secluded precisely because we didn’t want to be dominated. Do you know how rarely we let our people go outside to get news?” She spins around, hair whipping her face. Her eyes are glossy as she glares at him. “Do you know how surprised and delighted we were when we heard that peace had been established between the nations? That the Hokage is a relative? Someone we could trust to understand our wishes and desire for peace? Only to come here and be disrespected and demeaned?!”

She pants harshly, clenching and unclenching her fists. The trees creek eerily, feeding off her anger, making his hackles rise.

“So yes, Kakashi. I understand that this is a monumental revelation to your village. What I can’t and refuse to accept is the blatant disrespect and violation of autonomy. After they had the nerve to explain the origin of that kid, for fuck’s sake!”

She spins around to stomp off, but he snatches her wrist before he can think about it.

Sakura snarls at him, and Kakashi can’t fight back his instincts to snarl back at her, even though his mask covers his mouth.

“Let. Go.” She growls.

“No.”

Emerald eyes flash with lightning, thunder, and murderous intent.

“You don’t want me to make you, Hatake.”

He scoffs as his grip tightens (this is all his Hatake instincts. He wants to push her buttons and fight her, challenge her, and make her submit.), “And start an international incident right after you just barely managed to quell the first one?”

Kakashi can smell rain and petrichor burning righteously underneath her skin, threatening to burst free and devour him. Subconsciously, the white chakra buried deep in his core begins to rumble, flowing out of his mouth in a growl.

There’s a moment where the night breeze blows between them. Ruffling their respective unique hair. The night clouds that had been blocking the moon finally moved.

It is the croak of a toad that has them both moving.

Somehow, they end up at a training ground near the Forest of Death. They both stick to taijutsu, the pure brutality of it helping release the building pressure.

Kakashi’s frustration and lust.

Sakura’s anger and lust.

She tackles him into a tree, sweat dripping down her forehead and into her heaving cleavage. Kakashi wants to follow the trail with his tongue. It’s bad enough that he had found her outside at night in just athletic shorts and a large sweater.

(The sweater was long since ruined, much like his sleeveless masked top.)

The feral look in her eyes fades and is replaced with a look he recognizes. He had seen it in the eyes of every person who had come across Sakura in these past few weeks. Her superhuman grip on his arms has him far more turned on than he’s prepared for, and the building growl in his throat begins to grow louder.

Her eyes flicker to his lips just as his eyes come back to her face.

There are no words exchanged as Kakashi flips their positions and Sakura wraps her long legs around his waist. The remains of his mask is ripped off at some point as their lips lock in a furious dance. Surely, the bark of the tree should be painful from the way she uses it as leverage to grind on his pelvis, but honestly, he can’t keep a solid thought.

Not when she smells like sweat, arousal, and ripe peaches.

Sakura bites his lower lip, dragging a lustful growl out of his soul. In retaliation, he squeezes her ass hard. She removes her mouth, throws her head back, and moans deep in her throat. Kakashi takes that moment to begin to kiss and nip down her jaw. His wolf teeth graze her skin every so often, teasingly.

He is vaguely aware that her previously wandering hands (she had miracle hands. He wants them back in his hair ASAP.) have begun to flow through hand signs.

Just as he bites above her jugular, enjoying the keen she lets out, he senses something being built around them, hiding them from view.

A house? Cabin?

His thoughts are once again gone from his mind because one hand is back in his hair, and the other has slid down his pants.

If he stumbles as he tries to navigate the newly grown building, the only one to witness it is thankfully the rosette in his arms.

I’ve never related more to Asuma in my life…

Any plans to sneak into his house are dashed the moment he sees his dad sitting on the front porch of their house, arms resting on his legs and fingers interlocked. Any intention he had of avoiding his dad for a few hours burned up in flames.

He’d be worried about a punishment if not for the amused grin on his dad’s face as his nose twitches.

Not that anyone in the compound would need to smell him. He is well aware of how he looks.

Dishleveled hair.

Ruffled shirt.

Crumpled pants.

Scratch marks and bruises decorate his arms and shoulders.

Unconscious swagger, he can’t stop walking in.

The compound guards and neighbors who woke up early all smirk knowingly at him.

He hates that his mask has been torn to shreds, thus making him unable to hide his blush.

Kakashi stops in front of his dad, hands in pocket, his usual casual slouch in place.

“Sup, pops. How was your mission?”

He will not be embarrassed. There’s nothing wrong with sex. He’s 21, not 13.

Was it the best night of his life, not to be ever replicated at any point, anytime soon?

Most assuredly.

But that’s a problem for another day.

Sakumo’s smirk widens, “Did you at least use protection?”

Keep casual. Keep casual.

“I’m not an idiot, old ma-”

Kakashi’s mouth snaps shut as his genius mind quickly flicks through the memory of last night. Desperately searching for a moment when either of them mentioned protection.

His face pales, and his dad cackles loudly at him.

“Now I definitely have to meet the one your wolf has chosen as your mate,” His dad states after putting a bowl of rice before Kakashi.

Kakashi, who simply wants to go hide in his room, now has to entertain questions from all his male cousins and uncles.

Each one looked more giddy and smug than the last.

It was no secret that amongst his cousins from his age group, he had been the last one to become interested in sex, with the opposite gender or otherwise.

Now he knows why.

He could do without the diagrams, but at least he knows why his sex talk was immensely shorter than his cousins' all those years ago.

His uncle claps him on the shoulder, “A kage’s daughter and future heiress? You’re bold, Kakashi-chan!”

More laughs, “Ain’t she supposed to be the next kage for her village as well?”

“That’s what I heard.”

“Sakumo, you’re about to have the most beautiful grandpups. That Sakura is a beauty. Smelled powerful…”

“... Judging from the marks on Kashi-chan, she’s feisty too, huh?”

Kakashi groans and lets his head thud against the table.

More laughter surrounds him, though a part of him feels a bit more complete. He had felt slightly isolated from the rest of the pack because of his peculiarities and late “blooming”.

“Bakashi… you’re bold as fuck,” Is the first thing Obito says to him when he walks into the Hokage tower after the impromptu Hatake clan meeting (celebration).

He refuses to look him or Minato-sensei in the eyes.

Only because he knows his sensei is smiling the same shit-eating grin as Obito and his dad. He could smell it.

“At this rate, we might be able to secure an alliance via marriage,” Minato jokes. “Are you prepared to be a kage’s husband, Kakashi-kun?”

Kakashi finally lifts his eyes to glare at his sensei and best friend.

They both fall over laughing.

Minato-sensei coughs, “All jokes and celebrations aside, Tsunade-hime has informed me she has removed those elders from the Senju council. I highly doubt Sakura-chan will accept an apology from them, as we all know it would not even be remotely sincere. So, Tsunade-sama will give one herself.”

He and Obito stand at attention and nod.

Sighing wearily, “Thankfully, most of the terms previously discussed were mutually beneficial, and backing out would be foolish for either party. So we are proceeding as planned.

Just because Kakashi is avidly avoiding his age mates does not mean that they are avoiding him.

No, they are quite literally hunting him.

He has no idea how the rumors have spread so fast, but by noon, Kakashi has decided to take refuge in one of his little-known hiding trees.

“Well,” Kakashi flinches up, “Isn’t this a neat little hiding spot?”

Leaning over the branch he is currently reading on, he finds Haruno Sakura. Hands on her hips, an amused smirk on her face, and chakra and scent suppressed levels above anything he had seen his ANBU do.

“How did you find me?” He asks, moving to sit up and make room for her.

She scoffs, “I asked the trees, duh.”

He doesn’t respond, mainly because he can’t tell if she’s being serious or if she’s joking.

“Are you being hounded by your group about last night?” He can’t help but ask quietly, slightly regretful.

Sakura is quiet for a moment, and then he feels her finger lifting his chin up so he can look her in the eyes.

“I don’t regret last night, Kakashi. I certainly don’t care what shinobi in this village think of me. As such, you shouldn’t either.” She rolls her eyes as she snorts.

Kakashi grins at her.

Leaning back against the tree trunk, Sakura lies across his chest as well.

Flipping his current novel back to the first page, he and Sakura silently read together. Away from the drama.

“And, yes, I’m on birth control, Kakashi-kun.”

COUGH

Notes:

I was hoping to have this out yesterday, but I was kinda out of it.

If I get inspired, I might add more chapters to this. But for now, it's complete.
