Well, this certainly wasn’t how they had expected they’d end up.
They were simply walking home from school, when they got hit with the Isekai Special, which is more commonly referred to as a Truck to the Face, only to wake up in a room not my own, with a body not my own.
Awful experience, 0/10, would not recommend in all honesty.
Ah! But where are her manners, they should probably introduce themselves to this wonderful audience that she’s assuming is there, since from what she can tell, she’s in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, which means that there’s probably a Universe out there where this is all a SI/OC/SIOC fanfic.

IRIS then proceeded to look around, in order to be able to know more about everything. She did just wake up, after all! Honestly, the only reason she knew that she was in GX in the first place was the fact that there was a poster on the KING OF GAMES Poster on the wall & a HANDWRITTEN NOTE on the bedside.
…she should probably take a look at the note.

“Alright IRIS, don’t forget, you’ve still got the live test EXAMS! Make sure your DECK & other stuff is ready! I know we did badly on the WRITTEN EXAM, but we can show ‘em what we can do in the PRACTICAL!”

“...so, I’m guessing the address & date on the HANDWRITTEN NOTE is probably where & when the EXAM is, so I should probably check it out online.”
…alright, now where do I find an interface with the intern- oh, looks like she had a PC. pretty high specs too.

…IRIS wonders if DIGIMON exists here, she didn’t get to finish CYBER SLEUTH, HACKER’S MEMORY, or even get the chance to get TIME STRANGER either-

Yeah she doesn’t think these CARDS belonged to the old IRIS in all honesty.
Why? You may ask? Well.
First of all, that's a LINK MONSTER.
Y’know, the ones that can be SUMMONED using LINK SUMMONING? The SUMMONING TYPE that doesn’t exist in GX?
...Actually, she can probably check using the PC.
...& as IRIS had thought, LINK SUMMONING doesn’t exist nor does SYNCHRO, XYZ, and PENDULUM, which probably means that these are her CARDS.
...& also some CARDS that she never had.
Well, unless she ended up pulling the rest of the EXOSISTER, SPEEDROID, WHITE FOREST, MALISS, & other CARDS she had been meaning to make DECKS out of & forgot about it that is.
What’s next? Is she going to get an encyclopedic knowledge of the game shoved into her head?

Well, whatever, with all the CARDS she’s pulled across her entire life in addition to every ARCHETYPE she’s been meaning to pull for, she should be able to make a good DECK to use for the EXAM.
Now… what to make, what to make. She’s got some neat things, & could probably make and use something new, or just go with one of her many ‘Ol’ Reliable’ DECKS.
…Though, it’s more just 1 Ol' Reliable, since all but 1 of them use Non-FUSION EXTRA DECK mechanics.
…Well, the most optimal would be to aim to be in SLIFER RED on purpose, which is actually most likely harder than doing good in all honesty, so that can help.
Hmm… guess she’ll go with her MEGAROCK BEATDOWN deck from The Leaf Club Draft League then, but only for the PRACTICAL!
For after that? Well, she could just start using one of her Ol’ Reliables… but that’s boring.

& with those interesting thoughts, IRIS made a mad dash to the PC that was still on, in order to search something up.

& with that search, some interesting things had been revealed.
First of all, SHINING DRAWS still existed here, & not even unreasonably rare either, most wouldn’t be surprised by one happening every other week, considering how many people play the game, & as long as the CARDS were recognised by the DUEL DISK to be valid, they could be used in any DUEL.
Second of all, CARDS could still be made originally, as INDUSTRIAL ILLUSIONS & KAIBACORP seemed to have proven so, so that’s very useful information.
Thirdly, CARDS could still be found from the STONE TABLETS of old, though they usually needed to be studied first, however that wasn’t nearly as important as the first 2 facts.
Fourth & finally, if she understood the other 3 things correctly, under the right conditions. She could make her own EXTRA DECK FUSION Monsters for her non-FUSION DECKS.
That’s not even mentioning the fact that since ARC-V showed that SUMMONING mechanics worked in different timelines/universes/dimensions/whatever the hell ARC-V had, she could introduce SYNCHRO early, and XYZ, PENDULUM, & LINK SUMMONING too! Not to mention bringing TURBO DUELING & ENTERTAINMENT DUELING into the fray as well!

Oh man! She’s getting excited! She can’t wait to see them all in person! & that’s not even considering the fact that she could make BANK on that! But more importantly she wants to see it all in person! It all probably looks super cool! Man, she’s getting really excited for it!

Welp, after that distraction, she should probably get back to taking a look at what old IRIS called home, alongside deciding on what DECK to use.
…hmm, now that she thinks about it, SUPER QUANTALS have a lot of potential for the other EXTRA DECK types, like the MECH BEASTS fusing into different combinations, or the LAYERS getting new SYNCHRO forms…
Well, she’s decided, SUPER QUANTS are the first DECK she’ll try making new CARDS for!

-something that she finds oh so Very, Very, Interesting. Well, she should probably choose them in line with her ambitions.
…Wait, DUEL ALCHEMY’s an Elective? Well, actually… didn’t the episode with JINZO say something about how a STUDENT took-

-BANNER’s CLASS, but his friends [not inside him] didn’t? Yeah, it did, didn’t it? Well, that’s neat to know for certain she guesses. Not to mention the fact that she remembered a fanfic saying that FUSION DUELESTS were known to DUEL SPIRITS as DUEL ALCHEMISTS, so that should help at least a little bit with her ambitions. Then there’s the mechanical part of things… the AUTOSHOP elective, or is that a Club? Well, it looks to be an Elective, so they guess it is. Also probably useful for trying to introduce TURBO DUELING. & now, one more… fuck it, OUTFIT CREATION it is. She’s not sure that’s an actual CLASS back home, but it sure is here. Should be an easy credit.
...Ok no she doesn't believe that but a girl can dream of an easy education damnit!
Wait, no, she should probably go for the CARD DESIGN Elective, if she want's to, y'know, make CARDS!

Hmm, welp, she should probably prepare to get a good look at the general area, & also take a look at the directions to the place where the DUEL ACADEMY EXAMS are taking place.
…she should find a METAL PIPE though, and a FISHING POLE, and a CLAW-GRABBY-THING, she wants to test out as to whether she can pull off some HAMMERSPACE shenanigans, take the ANIMELAND shenanigans to ANIMELAND instead of letting them happen to her and all that.

Well, looks like she made it on time to the DUEL ACADEMY EXAMS, so that’s good. She managed to remake her MEGAROCK BEATDOWN DECK to the best of her abilities, with a few boosts from her other CARDS, so things should be fine. Also pretty good that she managed to figure out the HAMMERSPACE shenanigans. Turns out the HEART OF THE CARDS isn’t the only thing that can benefit from hopeful faith!
She walked up to the people who would tell me where to go for the PRACTICAL EXAM, at least, if she remembered GX’s Episode 1 correctly.
“Yo, ’m here for the DUEL ACADEMY EXAMS, name's IRIS, no last name.”
“IRIS, IRIS, IRIS, ah! Right, so, you just need to go to TEST AREA NUMBER 18.”
“Alright, thanks dude!”
& with that, she was off. Specifically to find her TEST AREA.
Ah, she’s here.
Hmm… looks like she’s got a minute or 2… guess she’ll take one last look at her DECK then.
Yeah, 54 CARDS in a DECK probably isn’t the most optimal decision, but this is ANIMELAND, so things should be fine.
…Probably.
Ah, there’s the INSTRUCTOR, it seems like it’s time for her PRACTICAL.
“Hey there INSTRUCTOR person! Guessing you’re the one DUELING me for the PRACTICAL? Actually wait hold on, what do I call you? Don’t think I got your name, Mister.”
“Hmmph! That’s DOCTOR to you! I didn’t get a PHD in DUELING just to be called Mister!”
Yeah. That’s right. Good ol’ CRONOS DE MEDICI. Or VELLIAN CROWLER if you watched the 4KIDS DUB. Didn’t realize that he did some of the PRACTICALS before-

Ooh, he’s irritated, only a small bit, but still irritated. Definitely not like with JADEN. But enough that it could assist with getting into SLIFER RED.
“Now, Dr. CROWLER, if you don’t mind, I’ll take the first turn. I DRAW!”
Hmm, shite, an AVATAR OF THE POT and a POT OF GREED turn one? Now isn’t that lucky.
Her other cards are… LOST GUARDIAN, GRANMARG THE ROCK MONARCH, and a MONK FIGHTER.
Well.
She supposes getting a draw 3 on turn 1 must’ve stolen all her luck.
She would’ve at least appreciated a ROCK BOMBARDMENT or something though.
“Alright! First, I’ll NORMAL SUMMON AVATAR OF THE POT [ROCK / EFFECT, 1200 / 1300] in DEFENCE POSITION!-”
True to her words, a green-hued buff guy in naught but a loincloth & with a POT OF GREED for a head was summoned to the field, though with their arms crossed & kneeling in a defensive position.
“-& then, I’ll activate their EFFECT, which allows me to send 1 “POT OF GREED” from my HAND to the GRAVEYARD to draw 3 CARDS! Let’s see what I get…”

“W-well, disregarding this… interesting HAND, I’ll place 3 CARDS FACEDOWN, & end my turn!”
Dr. CROWLER just looked at the field with a neutral expression.
“Well, I suppose that’s an alright field to end with, but it won’t be enough! I DRAW! Hmm, first, I’ll activate the SPELL CARD, ANCIENT RULES! This CARD allows me to SPECIAL SUMMON 1 LEVEL 5 or higher NORMAL MONSTER from my HAND! I’ll choose GIGA GAGAGIGO [REPTILE / NORMAL, 2450 / 1500], & SUMMON him in ATTACK MODE! Then, I’ll-”
& now to activate her TRAPS, she meant to do that earlier, but seeing ANCIENT RULES activate was really cool & she kind of got distracted, it looked like ancient hieroglyphics on a floating movie reel & then GIGA GAGAGIGO appeared on said hieroglyphics & walked out & it was just so cool- no wait she’s getting distracted.
“HOLD IT! I activate my 3 FACEDOWN CARDS! All of which are the same one, specifically, ROCK BOMBARDMENT! Each one of these TRAPS allow me to send 1 ROCK MONSTER to the GRAVEYARD from my DECK, & deal 500 damage to your LIFE POINTS for each one! I choose 2 MONK FIGHTERS and a LOST GUARDIAN! Go! TERRAKINETIC BARRAGE times 3!”
& with that, three catapults from medieval times appeared on her field, with statue versions of the 3 MONSTERS she had named being ready to be thrown, & with her words, they had unleashed their payload, dealing a solid 1500 LIFE POINTS to Dr. CROWLER.
[IRIS - 4000 / Dr. CROWLER - 4000 -> 2500]
‘That’s 3 in the GRAVE.’
“Hmmph, well, if you’re done, I’ll use my NORMAL SUMMON now, to play ELEMENT MAGICIAN [SPELLCASTER / EFFECT, 1500 / 1200] in ATTACK MODE, & when I control a WATER ATTRIBUTE MONSTER on the field, you can’t switch the control of this CARD. I’ll then move onto my BATTLE STEP. ELEMENT MAGICIAN! ATTACK AVATAR OF THE POT, and GIGA GAGAGIGO is free to ATTACK DIRECTLY!”
& with that, the LIGHT-ATTRIBUTE Magician proceeded to unleash a deluge of water at IRIS’ buff green guy, whilst G. GAGAGIGO became a blur & threw a punch that only had its ghostly afterimage hitting directly that MONSTERS in the ANIME often unleashed.
“G-guh! Ok, ok, not as cool looking when it happens to you, got it.”
Didn’t stop IRIS from flinching though.
[iris - 4000 -> 1550 / Dr. CROWLER - 2500]
“Yes, yes, the MONSTER is intimidating, I know, now, I’ll play 1 CARD FACEDOWN, and end my turn.”
Though Dr. CROWLER clearly thought that this was usual.
“R-right, I DRAW!”
‘Alright, I drew... THE DARK DOOR? Hmm, should be useful.’
“Alright! I activate the CONTINUOUS SPELL CARD, THE DARK DOOR! This makes it so that only 1 MONSTER can ATTACK per turn! Next, I’ll SET 1 CARD in my MONSTER ZONE… & end my turn.”
Dr. CROWLER chuckled at that.
“Hah! If you’re getting overwhelmed by this, are you sure you’re supposed to be here?”
‘…really?’ “Yeah, yeah, alright, just make your move.”
“Hmmph, well, I DRAW!”
“…”
“…”
“Well? Aren’t you going to play anything?”
“…I’ll just ATTACK your FACEDOWN with G. GAGAGIGO.”
The FACEDOWN, which was MONK FIGHTER, certainly tried to put up a fight, but ultimately failed in the end.
‘& that’s 5 ROCKS in the GRAVE… just need a MEGAROCK for a 3.5K Beater.’
“Ah damn, you bricked as well? My condolences.”
“T-tch! Just play already!”
“Alright, alright, jeez, I DRAW or whatever.”
…oh hell yes! Her last copy of POG in her DECK!
“I’ll play the SPELL CARD, POT OF GREED! Which allows me to DRAW for 2~!”
…ah. Maybe she shouldn’t have been so cocky earlier, still, a DUMMY GOLEM & a THREATENING ROAR should be perfect for stalling.
Might even get the chance to pull off a GRANMARG
“& I’ll! Play a MONSTER FACEDOWN & SET 1 CARD FACEDOWN as well, then end my turn.”
…Dr. CROWLER looked impatient. That. probably isn’t good.
“Hmmph. If all you’re going to do is play defensively, then I’ll just have to go on the offence. I DRAW!”
…Dr. CROWLER smirked, that probably isn’t good.
“-& I’ll play HEAVY STORM! A shame that I’ll have to get rid of my own FACEDOWN, but all you’ve been playing are FACEDOWNS yourself, so I won’t have to worry about that-”

ZANE was honestly quite disappointed in the MATCH he had decided to watch. The girl had started out decently enough. A DRAW 3 on turn 1 isn’t anything to laugh at after all, he’s quite aware of the benefits of CARD ADVANTAGE. Not to mention the fact that she’s one of the unlucky few facing off against CROWLER instead of one of the Non-PRO-DUELIST STAFF. But after that was nothing but FACEDOWN after FACEDOWN, most likely DEAD DRAW after DEAD DRAW.
“-& I’ll play HEAVY STORM! A shame that I’ll have to get rid of my own FACEDOWN, but all you’ve been playing are FACEDOWNS yourself, so I won’t have to worry about that-”
Hm. Looks like CROWLER’S finally decided to end this-
“HOLD IT! I’ll activate my FACEDOWN TRAP! THREATENING ROAR! You won’t be able to order an ATTACK for the rest of the turn!”
…he’s just going to look at the other DUELS, at least, until-

He forgot how bad the people in the 50-59% Grade Brackets were.

At least the only crime the girl’s DUEL committed was being really boring.

Hmm. looks like it’s the girl’s turn, & with CROWLER’S TRAP in the GY, alongside her other S/T CARDS, it seems the girl’s got one FACEDOWN left on the field & a few CARDS in her HAND.
He doubts it’ll be enough.
“I FLIP SUMMON! DUMMY GOLEM! This CARD forces you to choose one MONSTER you control, & switch control of it with this CARD! So go on, pick a CARD, any CARD!”
Hm, not that bad of a play, but she’s forgotten something.
“Well, young IRIS, it seems you’ve forgotten the effect of ELEMENT MAGICIAN, who can’t switch control! Which means that if I choose ELEMENT MAGICIAN, your DUMMY GOLEM’S effect fizzles out!”
This DUEL should be over by next turn.
This turn if she decides to give up.
“Shite, forgot about that… Alright, if that’s how you wanna play, then sure! Here we go! I TRIBUTE DUMMY GOLEM TO TRIBUTE SUMMON GRANMARG, THE ROCK MONARCH [ROCK / EFFECT, 2400 / 1000]! Unfortunately for you, as you’ve destroyed all the current FACEDOWNS I could even target, I can’t activate GRANMARG’S effect. Not that it’d help against the TRAP HOLE you destroyed yourself, Doctor.”
So that’s what CROWLER’S TRAP was. Unfortunate for him, but not much to be done about it.
“Then, I’ll attack your ELEMENT MAGICIAN with GRANMARG! Go! TERRABASH BLISTER! Then I’ll end my turn.”
[IRIS - 1550 / Dr. CROWLER - 2500 -> 1600]
Hmm, so if CROWLER doesn’t draw a MONSTER he can SUMMON right away next turn with enough ATTACK POINTS, then the girl will have one more turn at minimum.
“So, what about this match caught your eye?”
Huh? Oh, it’s-

“Yes, that’s true, but considering the fact that she was one of the people in the 50-59% grade schedule, it’s at least something interesting to see at their level.”
“That’s true, I suppose. I saw some of the other DUELS, & I can see what you mean. Though… did the low level PRACTICALS always take this long?”
[IRIS - 1550 -> 1500 / Dr. CROWLER - 1600]
& GRANMARG was destroyed. No other MONSTERS from CROWLER however, he must have gotten another DEAD DRAW.
“No, but then again, most low level DUELISTS would have screwed up by now or given up. So who’s to say?”
The girl’s turn again.
“I DRAW! …& set one CARD onto my MONSTER ZONE! Then I end my turn.”
…the girl shouldn’t look that confident. She’s planning something, & unfortunately, CROWLER’S too arrogant to realize that.
“Hmmph! Well, if you’re going to make a play like that, then I’ll just make this quick! I DRAW! And then I’ll NORMAL SUMMON ELEMENT SOILDER! & since I control a WATER MONSTER, control of this CARD can’t be switched! Now, GIGA GAGAGIGOS! ATTACK her FACEDOWN CARD!”
“YOU FOOL!”
Oh? That wasn’t the source they were expecting confidence from.
“I ACTIVATE THE FLIP EFFECT OF CYBER JAR, WHICH DESTROYS ALL MONSTER ON THE FIELD, THEN, WE BOTH EXCAVATE 5 CARDS FROM OUR DECK, & SUMMON ALL LEVEL 4 MONSTERS IN THOSE 5 CARDS IN EITHER FACE-UP ATTACK POSITION, OR FACEDOWN DEFENCE POSITION, THEN, WE ADD THE REST OF THOSE CARDS TO OUR HANDS! AHAHAHAEHAHEAHHEAHEAHEAHAHHAHEAHAHEHAHAEHAHEHAE!”
…ok.
“That’s… not the usual reaction most make when they pull off an effect that’s beneficial to both DUELISTS.”
“No, ALEXIS, not usually, but that manic spark in her eyes tells me she’s just happy that the GIGA GAGAGIGOS is gone. Well, either that, or she just drew something good.”
The girl then proceeded to place 2 monsters facedown, while CROWLER ended up with 2 ELEMENT VALKYRIES & a Vanilla FIRE MONSTER he can’t be bothered to remember the name of.
More stalling.
Joy.
“At least… if she doesn’t have something good from the CYBER JAR DRAWS…”
& with that, CROWLER proceeded to attack the FACEDOWNS with his ELEMENT VALKYRIES.
…were the E. VALKYRIES supposed to look at each other like that? He doesn’t think that the DUEL DISKS were programmed to make the CARDS look at each other like that.
