Title: Girl Meets True Love
Chapter 18
(The next day in class, it was time to go over the assignment in Cory's class)
Cory: "Okay, everyone. Are you all ready to present to the class your findings?"
(Lucas and Riley both nodded and walk to the front of the class."
Lucas: "Regarding 'Confessions', it is always good to tell the person you are with or even friends with how you feel. In my opinion, no one is a mind reader."
Riley: (nods) "Exactly. Always have a heart-to-heart talk conversation with that person you are with or who you are friends with."
(Riley and Lucas smile at each other before taking their seats. Farkle and Maya decide to go next. They get out of their seats and go to the front of the class)
Farkle: "I have no crushes, but as for 'Confessions', I have lots of friends that I am thankful for. I feel we should always be there for them, no matter what."
Maya: "I agree with Farkle." (chuckles) "While I do have a crush, I am there for all of my friends."
(Farkle and Maya take their seats. Cory nods and speaks)
Cory: "Zay and Charlie, you are up. Come to the front of the class, please."
(Zay and Charlie get out of their desk chairs and walk to the front of the classroom. They face everyone)
Zay: "As for 'Confessions', I do not know if this is considered one. I treat all my friends with kindness. I will always speak up. Even if I see someone that is being mistreated, I will still do that. That is how I was raised."
Charlie: "My 'Confession'? I treat others the way I want to be treated. If you treat your friends well, they will treat you well."
(After the rest of the class take their turns, Cory talks to his class)
Cory: "I am proud and happy of how you handled your assignment today. Congratulations. Class is done for the day. Have a good rest of the day. The bell will ring shortly."
(Everyone goes to their next class once the bell rings. Riley goes to her locker. She opens it all the way. She sees a folded note fallout from the top of her locker. She has a weird look on her face as she picks up the piece of folded paper. She does not think anything as maybe it is a note from Lucas. She grins until she starts reading the note. She looks both ways to make sure no one is by her)
(Her face is expressionless. She does not know what to think or feel. She reads the note one more time, but it reads the same. She clears her throat as tears threaten to flood her eyes. She hurries up and puts the note in her backpack. She goes to her next class)
(It is the end of the day. Riley and Maya sit on the bench out of the school)
Maya: "So, what did you think of the class assignment?"
Riley: (nods) "It was okay."
(Riley pretends she is looking in her backpack to try keeping her mind off what really happened. She knew if anyone found out, all hell would break loose. She could not take that right now)
Maya: (chuckles) "Just 'okay'? Your dad paired you with Lucas. I would be happy to spend time with my honey. You guys are cute together, Riles."
(Riley's eyes threaten to flood with tears. She tries to get up)
Riley: "I-I got to go, Maya."
Maya: (confused) "Riley, what happened? Are you okay?"
(Before Maya can say anything more, Riley rushes off)
Maya: (perplexed) "Riley! What the hell is going on?"
(Riley noticed that she got a few texts from Lucas. She was finally at home. Sitting on her bench, she takes out the folded note)
Riley: (sniffles) "Who wrote this?"
(Riley unfolds it and reads it)
Note: "You are ugly. No one wants you, Riley."
(Riley stares at it and she cannot help but remember back when kids were mean to her year ago when she was younger. She starts crying)
Riley: "Is the bullying ever going to stop?"
