Chapter Text

Another Fanfiction Idea I have in mind. And who would have thought that I would be a Critical Role: Campaign Two with Fallout: New Vegas of all things! If I have to be honest, this is going to be an experimental one as I have WAY too many fanfictions in my grasp right now.

Now, many of you are asking, why Fallout: New Vegas? Well, this is simple. Courier Six can somewhat fit into the group of the Mighty Nein. And, in order to not spoil it for anyone, you would have to look at its Wikipedia Page to find out more. And honestly, I need to do the same because wow, I may need to do some rewrites in case I miss a couple of details. Man, this story may be something that I can definitely see to be on par with my other stories.

One more story has been inspired by A Courier for Kivotos by Unknown Sixth, and A Hunter's Guide for Running a Hotel by Crimson Soldat and HalfWitHillbilly.

With that, let's delve into the story of the Courier of the Nein.

Courier of the Nein

No.1

Once in a Lifetime Offer

A man is in a prone position and aims his rifle at three Geckos that were feasting on their recent prey. The pack did not notice him as he was miles away, lying belly flat next to a big boulder. He patiently waited for the perfect moment to pull the trigger of his Service Rifle. His Elite Riot Gear has provided him with much-needed camouflage, although it was not ideal for the midday environment of the Mojave Wasteland. With armor over its shoulders, right wrist, torso, and knee, it wears a black dust coat and trousers. Its headpiece makes it more intimidating, complemented by its red optics, helmet, and gas mask. If he encountered any humans, then he would have been immediately spotted.

Time had passed, and the man saw the pack of Geckos having finished eating their prey; the pack leader looked at the others and signaled for them to leave. Right as they were about to, the man used his [[V.A.T.S]], which made the entire area slow down. Aiming with Iron Sights, he aimed for each of their heads. Three times no less. With careful precision, he fired towards them, not willing to waste any bullets if he missed. Luckily, he was on his side as he emptied his Magazine, and he was able to hit all of them.

Everything became normal again, and Courier Six looked at his prey. It looked like tonight was going to be quite a feast. Getting up to his feet, he cautiously approached the three dead prey while scanning around with his Survivalist's Rifle. He did not want anyone taking his food that he is going to devour tonight. He looked at the three creatures' corpses to see that they were in a condition to be eaten. He slung two onto his shoulders while dragging the third one by the wrist.

The sun begins to set as the Courier walks back into his campsite, and Courier Six, having taken his helmet off, is busy devouring what meat is edible from the hunted Geckos. He has to admit that he enjoyed eating them, even though they lacked any flavor, unlike the Ultra-Luxe Casino. Okay, he should not think of that right now.

His mind eventually delved into what had happened over the last few years. It has been exactly three years since the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, and things have been busy. Being the unofficial leader of the freed New Vegas had brought a setback within the city. But with time passing, it became what it once was, now prosperous. Although it gave him a copious amount of stress.

That is why, as of right now, the Courier is taking a much-needed vacation from controlling New-Vegas. Leaving it under Yes-Man's control. He knew that was an awful decision, which is why he reprogrammed him to follow specific commands that could keep the peace and tranquility within the city. At the same time, Victor, as always, decided to play cowboy, unlike Mr House, whom he initially looked up to as the figure who could serve the best interests of humanity. That was…no. He should not be thinking of that now.

After finishing his three Geckos, the Courier drowned it all with a large sip of his Vault 13 Canteen to digest any remnants that got stuck in his teeth. After that, he put his helmet back on and fixed it. He needed to get a much-needed rest to hear one of Joshua Graham's words of Wisdom once he visited his cavern once again. Otherwise, he could be drinking and only wished that Cass were here to be with him. Not that he had feelings for her or anything.

Letting out a yawn, the Courier stretched his arms up in the air as he stared at the fire. Tiredness started to overwhelm him as he lay on his back and looked up at the sky. His vision began to blur as darkness eventually hit him. He drifted off to sleep but…

-DREAM BEGINS-

Six found himself awakened within a cemetery near Goodsprings. Looking to see his hands bound, he attempted to break free but to no avail. "You got what you were after, so pay up." He heard one of them, McMurphy, speak to the man in the checkered black-and-white suit.

"You're crying in the rain, pally." The man in the checkered black-and-white-suit, Benny, commented.

"Guess who's waking up over here?" Another one of the thugs, Jessup, said seeing Courier Six getting up as he looked at his captives.

All turned towards him and Benny knew that it was time to get rid of the Courier. "Time to cash out." He threw his cigar to the ground and stomped on it with his shoe.

"Would you get it over with?" McMurphy just asked as he was starting to get annoyed by Benny.

"Maybe Khans kill people without looking them in the face, but I ain't a fink, dig?" Benny asked the men accompanying him before he locked eyes onto the Courier. "You've made your last delivery kid. Sorry you got twisted up in this scene." That made the Courier said an eyebrow at the man. It was meant to be a simple delivery job and…what, what was that he was pocketing.

"From where you're kneeling it must seem like an 18-carat run of bad luck." Benny spoke, pulling his custom-made pistol, Maria, as he aimed into the Courier's Head. "Truth is... the game was rigged from the start." With that…

*BANG*

-DREAM ENDS-

Six immediately opened his eyes, although he did not wake up hyperventilating. That dream of that incident was really starting to annoy him. He instantly sat up in his sleeping spot before he massaged the part of his head where Benny shot him. He did not know how he survived that in the first place. Truth be told, he wouldn't have made it if Victor did not dig him up from his grave and was taken to Goodspring to be immediately treated by Doc Mitchell.

He could have eased his headache if he simply took off his helmet while he slept. But truth be told, he did not as he was sleeping in some unknown territory. And, hold on…why was the campfire still going on. Looking to the right, the Courier was immediately alerted by a man, who was using a stick to make sure the fire was still going on.

Taking note of the man's appearance, the Courier saw that he wore an all black suit. He had a purple tie that was neatly wrapped around his neck, black hair that was in the style of a Pompadour, and had a Zappa Styled Mustache. Seeing him tending the flame made the Courier say one thing that he'd never dare to repeat. "What in the Godamn…?"

"Ah, I'm glad you're finally awake," The man said, putting the stick down and paying full attention to him. His tone was akin to that of a British Man from the Pre-War Era. "Did you have a nice nap, chap?"

"Was. Until you showed up to my campsite." Courier Six responded, his guard was up.

The Strange Man could only chuckle. "I apologize for interrupting your nap. But I was just looking for you."

"Looking for me?" Courier said.

"Yes," The Strange Man replied back, "I heard many things about you. The One who made New Vegas Independent. The One who destroyed Ceaser's Legion. The One who killed Mr House. The One who are on neutral terms with the NCR and made peace with the Brotherhood of Steel. And what else? Ah, yes. The one who survived Father Elijah's sick games and fully looted the Sierra Madre's treasure. The One whose brain was stolen but got back. The one who helped Joshua Graham not go to the path of vengeance. And lastly, helping another Courier to come into his senses in the Divide."

Six's eyes widened as he never knew this man knew a lot about him. All he could do was silently stare at the Strange Man before questioning, "How…how do you know that?"

"I heard many of your exploits from many in my travels. I can tell that you are broken from those experiences…" The Strange Man revealed to him. He took a sip from his flask before saying, "And yet, I can tell you are yearning for more places to explore. Am I correct?"

"I…" Courier Six was trying to find the best words to deflect the Strange Man's question. Yet, that also hit him. Looking back, he said, "Yes. I am yearning to explore more places. Truth be told, I need to have some time away from running New Vegas for three years."

"Well, I cannot honestly blame you for wanting to get away from that city," The Strange Man said, his tone not filled with arrogance. A thought came to him as he realized why he was looking for the Courier. "Ah, another matter. Would you like to hear about a 'Once-in-a-Lifetime' Offer?"

"A 'Once-in-a-lifetime' Offer?" Again, Courier Six echoed the Strange Man's words.

The Strange Man nodded. "Indeed. From just looking at your body language, the Mojave Wasteland seems to bore you. I can tell you a place where it has been completely unaffected by radiation."

This seemed to quip Six's interest. "And that is?"

The Strange Man could only smile as he was glad that the Courier asked for that question. "It's called Wildemount and it is unique. I can tell you that."

"How unique?" Six asked.

"Well, how do I put it…" The Strange Man stroked his beard as he thought of something. "Ah, yes. Wildemount is not on this planet. It's in Exandria, home to many species aside from humans and also Magic."

Interesting. That seemed to get Six's interest more. "And how do you know a lot of that?"

"Well, my good friend. Let's just say…I am not human," The Strange Man just casually responded back, making the Courier be taken back at this revelation. "I may look like one, but I can do things that a normal human can't."

"Just…Just what are you?" Six demanded, his stoic tone cracking as he was unsettled by the Strange Man's calm demeanor. He knew his instincts told him to not trust the Stranger. Yet, he was able to be grabbed by his…charm when his guard was down. None seemed to notice the campfire had died down.

"Now please just calm down. I'm not here to hurt you. Although, I admit to teasing people a lot." The Strange Man just said, making Courier Six calm down a little.

"Alright." Six said. "What is it for me in this 'Once-in-a-lifetime' Offer?"

"It's simple. Your guns and skills can easily be spread as rumors within Wildemount." The Strange Man answered. "You can even be a legend in your own right. Although…that is not what was initially on my mind."

"Then what was on your mind?" Six asked once again, his tone lace with skepticism.

The Strange Man just blew a small whistle. "I was thinking you could be some sort of good influence to a certain group of people who are…let's say they aren't your typical heroes who are willing to commit crimes that I cannot even describe."

"I see…" Six said as he absorbed the Strange Man's words. By the way he said it, he was reminded of the NCR squad dubbed The Misfits. Except, this group the Strange Man mentioned seems to be ten times worse. "And you happen to want me to…guide them?"

"Correct." The Strange Man whimsically replied back. "I want you to basically guide them towards the correct path. Well, your iteration of it while also finding new places." He let out a smile. "Trust me, you will definitely like Wildemount if you accept my offer. What say you, good chap?"

Hearing this caused the Courier to go deep in his thoughts. On one hand, he could accept the Strange Man's Offer to go to this Wildemount where he can explore and help this group he heard about. But on the other hand, he was worried. Worried about the state of New Vegas under Yes-Man's control while he was taking a much needed vacation. Who knows what will happen when he is gone? What if everything he has built up will be dismantled? He isn't worried about losing power. But, it is more inclined to be that of New Vegas's Stability of being a true neutral ground between the NCR, the Strip and other settlements.

Thoughtfully thinking of the man's words, along with the Courier's own worries, he looked back at the Strange Man. "I have thought about your offer."

The Strange Man raised an eyebrow at him. "Oh. And what are your thoughts?"

"I'm accepting your offer," The Courier responded, although he had one thing in mind. "However, I do have a condition."

The Strange Man did not react. It is as if he has been expecting that kind of response coming from the Legend of the Mojave Wasteland himself. "And that would that be?"

"Two conditions." The Courier stated while holding out two fingers on his right hand before putting them down. "The first is to now overpower me. I do not want to garner any unwanted attention. Especially the authorities." The Strange Man was impressed that the Courier did not want to be that reckless. "The second condition…will be to be sure that I will take a year in that location. I fear that Yes-Man might mess things up while I am away. I do not want to risk anything that can endanger lives and remove its neutral status."

The Strange Man pondered a little of the Courier's words. It took a good few minutes as he thought about it and looked back at the man. "Yes, that does seem reasonable. And you don't want to be gone for a while. I can deal with that." He clapped his hands together. "Now, since you have accepted my offer, there are a few things that need to be done."

"Like that?" The Courier asked.

"Your weapons," The Strange Man said, pointing to the direction where the Courier rested them. The first was the Ranger Sequoia, a double action revolver that he was fond of using. The second was his rifle, the Survivalist's Rifle. Having been picked up during his first visit in the Zion National Park, the rifle proved to fit very well in his hands. The third rifle was the Anti-Materiel Rifle, a heavy hitter sniper rifle that he only uses when fighting against heavily armored or large enemies. "You're going to have ammunition problems as guns are very rare, my good chap. However, I can solve this problem." He stood up and walked towards where they were hand holding a hand out. Before the Courier could even speak, a white-yellow glow emanated from his hands that shone onto the weapons. Just a few seconds later, the light died down and he put his hands down.

"What did you do?" The Courier immediately questioned him as he walked to where he rested his weapons and picked up his Revolver. He can see that there was an engraving of an infinite sign on the right side of the handle.

"Why I solved your ammunition problem." The Strange Man said. "Fret not. You'll figure it out on your own and what abilities I gave your weapons. Now…" He holds out what seems to be a medium backpack. "You can store as many items as you want. You'll be surprised what I put in there."

"Alright…" Courier could only say as he grabbed the backpack and put his two rifles inside. He was completely taken off guard to how it can seemingly fit both guns within it despite being a backpack. But he is not going to question it. Instead, he just slung it into his back while putting the Ranger Sequoia in his main holster. "Now, what?"

"Now? Now, you are going to be taken to Wildemount where you are going to be meeting this group." The Strange Man answered. "Although, I strongly advise you to seek The Fletching and Moondrop Traveling Carnival of Curiosities. You will most likely encounter them there." With that, he held his hand out and soon the same white-yellow light enveloped him. The Courier was looking at him, as if he was seeking one more piece of advice. "I hope your journey in Wildemount will go as you hope. And I wish you luck." The light completely enveloped Six before it instantly died down.

The Strange Man looked to see where the Courier stood. He was gone. Although, he did not look worried as he looked up towards the moon. "And so…the Courier has begun his journey. In Wildemount, where his actions will forever change." He let out a soft chuckle as he pulled out his flask and took a sip of its contents before walking away.

And the chapter ends.

Woah, I did not expect to write that much. Even for a series that has not been out yet. And truth be told, I am kind of nervous. Like, I may be butchering some events of the Mighty Nein moments due to the actions of the Courier.

Speaking of which, this is my second attempt in doing a Courier Six crossover story after the last one got butchered. And what better way than to do it with some having the same problems/traumas as him.

Man, The Mighty Nein ain't going to be prepared for what's to come. Although, he is going to garner attention even though he requested it. But, that leaves me with one question.

Who was the man? Why did he offer the Courier to be in Wildemount? And more importantly, what are his intentions? I guess we are going to figure it out down the line.

I want to hear what you guys want to see Courier Six do. Like, what will be his badass moments and what will be so heartbreaking. Because man, he is going to fit with that group of assholes. And I have a question; how did you like this portrayal of the Courier after the events of Fallout: New Vegas and the Shit he went through the four DLCs?

Anyway, follow, favorite, and review the story and hopefully you guys may like it that I may consider writing the second chapter. With that said, see you all next time.
