i can only count to four! (Forsaken Self-Insert)

Summary:

Danny is your average college student who does art, using their hard-earned cash to collect Transformers and gamble with blind boxes. And something takes this opportunity to ask them to take a job; possess a person from another world, one they know as "Forsaken", give them something new, something entertaining, and in return, they would get rewarded.

007n7 is stuck in a purgatory, Forsaken to repeat a sick loop of dying and seeing others die by killers, one being his missing son, c00lkidd. But as he and other survivors enter another round, he can't help but notice the feeling of something being wrong.

As he stares at the stretched, mangled limbs of the creature, a terrifying wide set of teeth staring back at him, the familiar shade of red fur reflecting the lights around the map, he knows that what is in front of him is not his son.

Chapter 1: you know how this goes

Chapter Text

[Danny]

Danny is your regular young adult attending college, artist, collector, writer, hobbyist, and definitely not a gamer.

Sure, they played their own fair share of games back then: a pirated version of Minecraft, Patapon 3 on the PSP, a few versions of FNaF (also pirated), and the classics of their childhood. Roblox is a newer development, a new thing for sure, having that they spent their time in tycoons instead of whatever the hell Forsaken is classified as.

Their ring finger mashes the Q button on their laptop, pinky pressing shift to make their character, Chance, run, turning their mouse to dodge 1x's attack, grumbling as the coin flip gives them another tails, adding another point to their weakness that is now at weakness XVI.

And promptly dying because 1x appeared right in front of them.

Danny groans, leaning forward, making the huge plushie in their arms be sandwiched in between them and the desk. "Fuuuudge nuggets."

Sighing, they use their thumb to click on the spectate button with their trackpad, the LMS theme blasting through their speakers as they observe the Elliot being chased by 1x1x1x1, looping the killer and dodging attacks.

"Holy crap, this Elliot's good." They murmured, watching as the player absolutely skedaddle across underground war with 16% HP and 30 seconds left on the clock.

Danny leaned back, the chair underneath them creaking from breaking it the other day, unable to use another chair because the one they're using is the only one tall enough for their desk.

The music ends, and the screen fades as the image of Elliot sitting alone comes to view on the screen. Last survivor wins.

Swiftly clicking the "/" key, they typed a gg in the chat, the other players following soon after.

Yawning, they sent a quick goodbye before closing the Roblox launcher, removing their glasses to rub their eye as they looked at the time, 12:00 am. Danny huffed.

'It's time to go to bed.' They thought, stretching their arms above their head, plushie on their lap. The familiar sound of their window opening echoes throughout the room as they prepare to stand up.

wait.

Danny snatches one of the many scissors in their cup holder, turning around and standing up so quickly that they hear their back pop.

The thing climbing through their window pauses, tilting it's head to look at Danny with visible confusion. "Those are... Craft scissors, you're pointing at me." It garbled.

They look at their hand, the bright, childish purple and orange plastic of the scissors glinting as if mocking them.

Danny looks back at the creature. "What the fuck."

"Don't curse at me."

"DoN'T cUrsE aT mE— of COURSE ill curse at you!?! That's the default reaction to whatever fuck is happening right now!!" They shout, their heart beating so fast in their chest in fear. The creature's dark form is twitching as it enters their room fully, towering over them as it stares, crested crown on it's face glinting in the light behind them.

Danny attempts to get another scissor, but they're far away enough that they only touch air and do a little shimmy instead. The thing in front of them shifts, straightening up as it's gigantic arms fold in front of it's chest. The eye at the center of it's face? crown? following their every movement.

"Danny, also known in a few spaces as "the devil" and in some cases, "Devil"—" "HOLY FUCKING SHIT." "Language. I, as the Bringer, have an offer for you." The creature, Bringer, apparently, reaches a limb out, the stump in the end actually being claws, acting as an outstretched hand as if giving them something.

"All that is required for you to do is provide the entertainment, chaos to a world that is not your own." It states, a claw now pointing to something behind them, their laptop. "This world is one you know as 'Forsaken.'"

"Wait." Danny blinks. "is this an isekai situation??" They shake their head. "Could you, like, say that one more time, but more simply? please?"

The Bringer cocks its head. "You will provide entertainment to us and the one who governs the world known as Forsaken, as the loop of dying and killing has become stale, we have approached the Spectre for a being outside of the whims of Robloxia to cause chaos, in the form of possessing a 'character' they desire within the requirements of the time of this job."

"Job. That means I would get paid."

"Of course. You would be rewarded with whatever your universe limits us to; it could simply be money, luck, or a change in how your world functions."

Danny scratches their cheek. "I don't know... This seems very scammy—"

"We have dental and health coverage."

"I'm in." They blurt out, but quickly shake their head.

"Hold on, you say entertainment by possession right?"

"That is correct."

"Can I possess a killer?"

"You shall. Whom would it be?"

"c00lkidd." Danny points at the Bringer, squinting at them as if glaring. "But specifically the milestone 4 skin." They say, acting as if they have the milestone 4 skin and actually being good when playing as killer.

The Bringer's antennae twitch in what they assume as interest. "Oh? Why so?"

"Ok, do the 'characters'-" They make air quotes as they speak. "Have access to skins?" "In this specific world? No, they are not."

They grin. "Perfect. Ok, so you guys want entertainment, right? Envision this, biiig scary c00lkidd, terrifying voicelines, the feeling of everything being wrong when I'm around, you gets?" Danny suggests, already imagining the mischief they can cause.

"Delightful." The Bringer claps?? It's hands? Are those hands?? Reaching out to form a handshake. "I assume it's a deal?"

"It's a deal." They shake it's hand.

"Your palms are sweaty." "Sorry."

"Wait, question. How would shifts work?" They raise their hand slightly.

"You play Forsaken nearly every day ever since you started a few days ago, correct?" The Bringer asks, tilting its head again.

"Yeah?" A nod.

"We can work around the times when you play. One round is an hour in that realm; there are two rounds each day. You are required to stay an hour in your time to entertain." The Bringer mused. "But overtime would not be paid." "Darn."

"Speaking of pay, how much? Would you like, do something to prove you're legit or..."

"Acceptable. Look behind you."

And Danny does.

There's a crisp wad of cash on their desk, the recognizable light blue of the bills making them choke as they inhaled sharply, coughing not in the direction of the creature or the desk. "That sounds incredibly painful -" "holY-- fUck --" more coughing.

Danny straightens a few seconds later, tears still in their eyes. "Ok— now I know you're legit." A cough. "When- when do I start?"

The Bringer shifts, the stumps on the end of its lower limbs making no sounds as it moves and motions Danny to the laptop, the screen lighting up to a private server link for Forsaken.

"Right now, preferably."

"how can i explain this money to my parents, dude."

"I could transfer it to your account if you would like?"

"please do."

[007n7]

007n7 is exhausted. The deep, gnawing feeling of fatigue weighs over his shoulders like pauldrons, dragging him down to the earth beneath him.

He shuffles, his tail dragging on the wood underneath him, the scales on the underside definitely getting damaged from how coarse the floor is, but he couldn't be bothered.

007n7 can feel the heavy stares of the survivors inside the main cabin as he drags his feet, almost tripping on the stairs as he heads out of the building.

He just… drops, collapsing on the grass, the air feeling cold against his skin despite having no blowing air in the realm- the hell. He balls his hands into fists to his eyes, nearly clawing the soft flesh of his palms open, frustration lighting and dimming underneath his skin.

Thin limbs of the spider noob poke his cheek before feeling the soft, warm head rubbing on his cheek. He cupped the small creature with a hand, tail curling behind him as he lay on his side, the grass underneath him making no sound.

He sighs, looking up to the dark sky as the moon shines brightly above him, the fake clouds unmoving in the skybox as stars blinked in and out in different locations with no discernible pattern, sometimes clumping in one spot or spaced out evenly. 007n7 blinks as he stares, confusion growing as he spots something different.

Barely anything changes in the hell they're trapped in, and when it does, it barely means anything good.

There, near the moon, is a dark spot where no star blinks to life, a perfect square of darkness in the middle of the sky right next to the moon. 007n7 sat up, rubbed his eyes, looked up again, blinked a couple more times, before freezing.

'That does NOT look reassuring in the slightest.' He thought, biting the nail of his thumb as he continued looking up, tail swaying behind him on anxiety as the spider noob climbed back on his hat. With the second round of the day nearing, any change would be a cause of suspicion, being that other survivors arrived with-

'OH MY GOD THE OTHER SURVIVORS.' 007n7 stumbled upright, nearly tripping (again) by his untied shoelaces (his fault now) to the main cabin once again. Tracking in dirt to the floorboards as he entered the kitchen, where he assumes an admin is. And lo and behold, Builderman stands in front of the sink, staring at it like it personally wronged him, which made him pause and take in the scene in front of him before continuing.

"Builderman?" 007n7 said softly to try and not make the admin jump… which did not work because he immediately turned to face him so fast and point a wrench at him as if a weapon, making him jump too.

They stared at each other before the shorter man cleared his throat, his body now fully facing him directly. "What is it, 007n7?" He blinked before remembering what he came to get an admin for. "There's something wrong with the sky."

"What?"

"Just-" He motioned for him to follow. "Look. Come on." 007n7 led the admin outside, pointing upwards to the dark box in the middle of the skybox. Builderman squints up for a bit, eyes adjusting from the brightness of the cabin to the light of the moon to see what he's pointing at.

"Is that a glitch or somethin'?" 007n7 looks up too, tail tumping on the ground now. "…The box grew larger?"

"That wasn't the same size as the moon earlier?"
"Definitely not."

The admin crossed his arms, eyes studying the anomaly in the sky. "Something new is coming, and I don't think we'll be ready."

They never were.

Ever since he was forsaken to the purgatory, the endless loops of being killed and surviving, no one had the comfort of knowing if they could see the light of day tomorrow.

007n7 remembers the first time he joined a round.

There, he saw his little boy, the child he raised with his own two hands, appear in front of him once more, just like the first time he laid his eye upon his son.

But what he felt was not the joy he felt like before.

It was grief.

007n7 noticed many things.

The recognizable red sheen of c00lkidd's fur no longer glinted in the light; instead, it was matted, dull now with the liquid of people's blood making it shine instead.

The short horns he cared for as his son grew older are dull, uneven. Uncared for.

The boy grinned as he held a person in the air by the throat, the thin tail behind him swaying in what seemed to be excitement.

His ears rang, the sound of the person's neck cracking inaudible to him as he watched the boy toss the body like a useless toy.

c00lkidd is taller than him.

And that is all that it takes to make his heart ache.

The sound of the grandfather clock ticking in the corner does not ease the ever-growing pit of anxiety he feels in his stomach. The tip of his tail is dragging on the floor as it sways, creating a faint scratching sound as he stares ahead.

The survivors gathered together in the main cabin's first floor, the otherworldly, dragging of something from within you being taken started a while ago, but grew stronger as time went on.

Builderman sighed, looking at the people around him. "I think everyone knows what's gonna happen next."

Taph, who's standing behind Dusekkar, twitched, lower wings curling more into themselves. The pumpkin-headed admin's eyes narrowed as he sat on the couch alongside Shedletsky, who had a leg over his knee, foot shaking.

"Be as it may, the error is what anyone can see. The oncoming feeling of dread is enough for the threads of fate to be unsaid. He and I will be left while the eight of you would be taken, we two would seek to see what can be chastened." He spoke, hooved hand pointing at himself, then at Shedletsky, who nodded and leaned forward.

"Both of us are gonna look around the place for any new changes while you guys are gone. We'll Spectate the round to see if there's anything new there, too." Shedletsky informs as he narrows his eyes, talons clenching and unclenching as he looks at his friend. "Good luck to you guys, survive 'til time runs out, yeah?" He grins.

Builderman only huffed and sighed, placing both his hands on his hips, waiting for the round to start. 007n7 takes this time to look around, wringing his hands together as he observes the other people around him. Chance kept flipping his coin, a brow furrowing whenever it landed on tails. Noob picked at the hems of their sweater and a few threads catching on his chewed fingernails as they stared at the fireplace. The demolitionist stood still beside the twitch of her wings, staring at the clock as the seconds went by.

Elliot stood with his feet tapping on the ground, arms crossed as he glared at the ground while Guest 1337 adjusted his gloves beside him, running a hand through his hair in what he assumed to be a nervous response. Two Time stood near but not alongside another, their hands clenched together in prayer and mumbled something that he couldn't hear, but knew it was a prayer to the 'Spawn'.

007n7 glanced at the clock. Only a few seconds left.

He stands straighter, and from the corner of his eyes, he can see a few others do the same. Taph waves goodbye to the two on the couch, which they respond to in response, Dusekkar giving her a smile in reassurance.

His vision goes black.

This round's killer is…

The recognizable echo of a laugh rings from what seems to be everywhere.

c00lkidd.

The pulling stops, and 007n7 can feel solid ground under his feet as he comes to. A slight feeling of tugging is completely gone as he blinks his eyes open. He looks around, spawned in facing the brightly colored exhibit in the distance to the right side of the entrance under the doorway, where he quickly hides behind a wall to not be seen immediately.

Guest 1337 blinks a few times before looking around. Taph is at the other side, running to the building housing targets; he assumes it is to fix the generator inside. Chance follows her in a stride alongside Noob and Builderman. Elliot spawned near the exhibit, jogging up to them. Two Time stands in the center of the entrance, seemingly looking at something.

Something's wrong.

007n7 looks around again. There's a nagging feeling in his gut that something has changed.

"Is…" He mutters, catching the attention of the other two.

"Do you guys feel like something… changed?" He turned his head slightly, fingers picking at his nails.

Guest and Eliiot look around again. "Now you've said it…" The soldier says.

"Doesn't it look… Darker? More shadowy, I mean." Elliot spoke up, making him turn in surprise to look around again. The map is a lot darker; the scattered lamps around do not help in how dark everything is. But the objects colored in red do not seem to cast a single shadow, looking bugged in how much they stand out.

Then they hear it.

Something rapidly approaching, something hard hitting the ground repeatedly like running. A red, twisted creature comes to view, headed directly to Two Time, who stood motionless at the looming figure's advance.

The crunch of the cultist's nose breaking seems to echo as they watched in horror, the scarlet creature crouching down and placing a hoof over Two Time's chest, making them struggle to breathe.

Two Time's face twisted in fear, terror showing clearly on how they clumsily tried to pry the claw away from crushing their face in, desperately attempting to push away from the thing towering over them, crushing their body into the concrete.

The red monster's features can be barely seen from how dark everything is, the cloak it's wearing not helping it's chilling form.

"Found you!" It's twisted, sickenly childish voice rumbles from it's fanged mouth, the glint of it's teeth making Two Time panic further with the primitive fear of being hunted, the wings on their head flapping, feathers flying everywhere as their attempts to flee ending up being futile as it continued to push, crushing their head more firmly, claws digging in the flesh of their scalp and cheek.

"NOTHING can save you from ME." It purred, leaning down further, their ribs finally giving in to the weight above them, hooves crushing their organs with the nauseating pulpous sound, the red liquid seemingly bleeding in with the creature's hooved feet. Two time chokes, miserably trying to spit the liquid from their throat, eyes rolling back to their head as pain pulsated throughout their body.

"Don't worry, I'll make it quick." It's dreadfully sweet voice warbled, teeth glinting as it grinned wider. The palms of the creature crushed their skull, the flesh sticking to it's skin before dropping to the remains of their head as blood pooled underneath the body, fragments of their skull sticking up as the desecrated remains of the person spilled all over the carnival floor.

It laughed, tail flicking back and forth, kicking the body away as it stood upright, facing away from them. The creature brought a claw up, inspecting it before turning to look around.

A hand gripped his arm tightly, pulling him behind a wall.

Guest held him in place, Elliot behind him as they hid from the watchful eye of the thing that killed Two Time, hooves heavy as it trodded the other direction.

His breath hitched.

"Was that c00lkid?" his choked-out voice sounded out, shoulders shaking.

Guest held him steady as he leaned to the wall, Elliot looking away from him.

That cannot be his son.

It shouldn't be.
