Virgil stared at the scale under his feet, his face growing pale. The numbers had to be wrong. He couldn’t have…
He stumbled off the scale, the numbers returning to zero. His heart hammered, his breath coming in fast and quick. He had been doing so well, how could this have happened?!
He turned his attention to the mirror in the bathroom, clutching the edge of the sink to keep himself upright. He stared at himself, seeing all the flaws, the way his stomach ballooned like the gross obese person he was.
He couldn’t see the truth in the mirror. The bones sticking out, directly against the skin. His face, once so full and soft, now sunken like the life was barely there. It had been years since he had truly seen his body.
All Virgil could really see now was how a single added pound made him ugly. How his gluttony was punishing him like it should. How he was fat, horrific and obese.
A knock came from the other side of the bathroom. Virgil had forgotten his boyfriend was visiting. He couldn’t let him see how ugly he had gotten after eating.
“Are you okay in there? You’ve been in for ten minutes,” Patton’s voice sounded worried.
“Uh, yeah! I’m fine. Nothing’s wrong!” Virgil called back, almost tripping over himself to put his pants back on and drown his torso in his huge sweatshirt.
He quickly turned on the sink, splashing his face, before he unlocked the door, drying his face with the washcloth.
Patton stood on the other side of the door, a small frown on his face, and his eyes held nothing but loving concern for Virgil.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” He asked, reaching out to take Virgil’s hands delicately in his hands. It was a relief for Virgil that his boyfriend could easily wrap his hands around his wrists and his fingers could touch. He wasn’t too fat, like his brain feared.
“Yeah, ah, yeah, I am now,” Virgil smiled, moving in to chastely kiss his boyfriend on the cheek.
Patton wrapped his arms around the too-thin frame, pulling him close. Virgil enjoyed the encompassing warmth from his chubby boyfriend, enjoying how his body melted into the soft body before him.
