It starts when King Rainbow decides that he doesn't want Deceit and Virgil sleeping in the same room. At least not until the royal family has time for a debriefing about what happened to Deceit after he was captured. That they'll be discussing Virgil too, goes without saying. The king can't change the fact that Deceit claimed Virgil - he can't even stop them from fucking (though he doesn't know that) - but apparently he can stop them from holding each other at night. Which shouldn't be a big deal, except it turns out that cuddling with Deceit was what kept Virgil's nightmares at bay most of the time.

Then Virgil meets Remy. Pick a god and pray for them and everyone in their vicinity.

To start with even this guy's moniker pisses Virgil off. Sleep. Just the word has Virgil bristling. It's like the universe is rubbing salt into an open wound. Some god is probably laughing at him. It's an omen. Virgil's sleep-deprived brain is sure of it. He and Sleep are not going to get along.
He's right, of course.
