“I mean,” Husk continued, pushing the abandoned cards on the counter back into a stack and doing an admittedly impressive shuffle. “Let’s play for something more than peanuts. You’re right. Ain’t no motivation to try if you don’t have anything to win.”
Angel blinked up at him. “I don’t think I said any of that-”
He was cut off by Husk pressing a card down right in front of his face, forcefully enough to create a little breeze that ruffled his fur. “We’ll play strip poker,” Husk said decisively.
Now that was enough to snap Angel back to attention real quick.
