Summary
Nine years ago, in a foreign land located all the way across the Atlantic Ocean, Mikasa found herself involved in a confusing and very short-lived affair with one of her superiors—an affair that ultimately ended in a pregnancy.
Now, years later, living in a post-war world as a working mother trying to return to school—and, above all, trapped in an unhappy marriage—the former Cadet often still found herself mourning the life that had been so mercilessly taken from her and her family.
A life that was barely beginning to take shape on the horizon of their future—if only the father of her twins, the Captain once known in life as 'Humanity's Strongest Soldier,' and thus, the man she had just begun to truly fall in love with, had never died.
Or so, at least, that’s what Eren believed—and what he had ultimately used—from her overwhelming weakness in the midst of her heartbreak to her paralyzing terror of facing this confusing new world alone—to convince her to marry him: that he had died.
