Silence.
That’s all Mr Puzzles heard.
For a good moment at least.
Moments ago, he was just closing the rift to save the universe, along side his cr- I mean friend, Mr WPNZ.
He didn’t understand why WPNZ would do this with him, he had a family, a job, a whole life to go back to. Sure his family hated him but at least he had one, Puzzles wasn’t so fortunate to have much of a family. And besides, no more than a few minutes ago WPNZ wanted nothing more than to brutally murder the tv head, and now he’s was risking his life with him?
They held hands while the rift began to close, WPNZ’s large hand gripping Puzzles’s lankier hand. It felt nice, he thought, to have the comfort of holding onto someone in his soon to be last moments, especially someone who meant so much to him. His first real friend.
Puzzles said his final goodbye and sorry message to Meggy, and switched his screen to a sign that said “That’s all folks!” And some old timey outro music started playing, then suddenly, everything went dark.
Puzzles’s screen turned on slowly, and he gazed around at his new surroundings. It was like they were in some sort of strange pocket dimension. The sky was a beautiful mix of various colors such as purple, orange, pink, yellow and blue. And it looked like he was sitting on a grassy plain, with a cool breeze wafting through his vents.
He suddenly remembered about WPNZ, and he quickly stood up and began looking around for him, until he could see a small figure in the distance laying flat on their back.
Puzzles hurriedly ran down the hill, nearly tripping once, and ran over to the figure, who was in fact WPNZ after all!
Thank goodness, Puzzles thought.
He knelt down and gently lifted WPNZ’s head into his lap, trying his best to wake him up.
“WPNZ! Hello?? Wake up!” He said while shaking WPNZ’s unconscious figure.
“..Puzz..? That you..?” WPNZ mumbled as he slowly open his big yellow eyes.
Puzzles sighed in relief “You’re okay..thank goodness..”
WPNZ smiled smugly “So you do care about me, huh Shakespeare?”
Puzzles scoffed “Of course I do you brute.” And flicked WPNZ’s nose lightly, which earned a snort from the shorter man.
WPNZ sat up from Puzzles’s lap and looked around, gazing at the sky and their new surroundings.
“Where are we..?”
“I’m not sure, but were definitely not in the mushroom kingdom anymore..”
WPNZ made a small “hmm” noise and continued gazing at the colorful sky, gosh he looked so beautiful in tbis lighting, puzzles thought before quickly dismissing that thought.
“Looks like we’re stuck here for a bit huh?” He looked over at Puzzles, who got a little bit flustered from admiring him earlier.
“Oh, er, yes..I suppose we are.” He replied, turning his tv head to look at the sky.
“Hey..WPNZ..?”
“Hmm?”
The TV head fidgeted with his hands for a moment, contemplating what to say, “I’m so sorry for..the hurt that I caused you and Toomp..I was so caught up in trying to get my ‘friend’ back that..I didn’t realize what I already had..with you. And I don’t deserve your forgiveness,I just want you to know I regret everything that I did.”
WPNZ turned his head away for a moment, then sighed and turned to gaze back at the TV head,”Forget about it, its all over now, and Yer lucky I’m stuck with you for the rest of eternity,boxhead.” He nudged Puzzles’s shoulder softly.
Puzzles sighed in relief, then suddenly felt WPNZ’s hand move on top of his. “Oh? Getting sappy now are we?” He teased.
“Shut up you dork” WPNZ said as he elbowed Puzzles again.
He giggled at WPNZ, who gave him a soft smile, gosh he loved the way he laughed..
They continued to talk and laugh about random things, unintentionally shifting closer until WPNZ was leaning against Puzzles,and Puzzles has his head resting on top of WPNZ’s head-canons. He sighed softly, wishing he could cherish this moment forever. The soft warmth of WPNZ’s heavy metallic body and his arm wrapped around Puzzles’s waist, pulling them closer together, it felt like a nice break from the all the crap that happened today.
“You ok boxhead?”
“Yes,just thinking about something,I suppose.”
“Like what?”
“How I wish this could last..”
“Hey,boxhead,look at me.” WPNZ turned his head to face Puzzles’s and he put a hand to the side of his TV head,”We’re gonna be stuck here for god knows how long, possibly eternity, so you don’t have worry about me leaving. As far as I’m concerned, yer stuck with me,okay?”
Puzzles digital eyes started tearing up and he looked at WPNZ fondly,”I don’t deserve someone as wonderful as you,my star” WPNZ face heated up with blue blush.”Well too bad,cause this is whatcha got,broadway.” He giggled again and WPNZ nuzzled his head under the TV head’s chin, wrapping his arm around the taller man
“Who knew such a fierce assassin could be so affectionate,hm?”
