Chapter Text
You had long since stopped jumping in surprise when a shadow crossed over you unexpectedly. A heavy form draped itself over your shoulders as you organized the notes you took on your clients, the fur on his hood tickling your cheek. A small smile crossed your face when a quiet rumble filled your empty workspace.
The murderer hummed quietly and nuzzled the side of your head. “Did you like my present?”
You chuckled, leaning into him and enjoying the warmth radiating into your back. “I did. My mother on the other hand…”
Killer paused his affectionate assault and blinked at you like a startled cat. A rare and adorable sign that you had actually managed to surprise him. “I thought she wasn’t supposed to come for another week?”
“Yes,” you agreed dryly, “but she was quite excited to see me. Her and her list of eligible men that I ‘absolutely have to go home and marry’.”
Killer hummed in amusement at your mocking representation of your mother’s words, but his grip on you tightened.
You paused to place a hand on one of the arms holding you hostage and added, “She’s been trying to get me to settle down with a farmer since I was of age, Love. She hasn’t managed to convince me yet.”
Your stalker/suitor relaxed a bit at the assurance. Deciding to change the topic, you asked. “By the way, who’s heart was that?”
Killer snickered into your neck, “Who’s do you think?”
“I think,” you said, more amused than you probably should be. “That one of my clients is having a funeral held after being unexpectedly targeted by the ‘mysterious serial killer’ that happens to be haunting my every footstep.”
“Yeeeaaahhh,” Killer drawled, “Well maybe he should’ve kept his hands to himself then.”
You felt the phantom prickle of lips on the back of your hand and snorted dryly. “Figures.”
