Chapter Text

Sunday. It's exactly nine in the morning. Three days have passed since my wedding anniversary with Yue, but I'm still celebrating.

"Don't worry, Ruby. Yue's already looking for a hangover cure in the medicine cabinet!" Kero encourages me. "Yesterday I drank too much wine again, and I paid for it with a migraine this morning."

"And I told you, you shouldn't drink so much yesterday. That's why I don't eat sweets... Eh-heh-heh-heh, I'm sorry, did I say that out loud?" Suppi shamed me.

"Come on, Suppi. Like you didn't have it...ooooooo - I abruptly got out of bed and ran towards the toilet, and did not notice that I ran past my husband with the medicine.

"Ehh. If they gave me a coin every time Ruby bowed to the toilet, I'd be rich," Suppi said indignantly.

"Suppi, what a hypocrite you are." embarrassed Kero.

After using the bathroom, I went to the kitchen where Yue gave me aspirin. After half an hour, I felt better, but I still felt a little nauseous.

"Well? I hope you'll stop "celebrating our anniversary"?"

"Don't worry, I feel much better now. Thank you."

"You're not in any condition to go anywhere right now. Maybe we should reschedule our walk?"

"Absurd! I'm still standing!" I objected.

"As you wish, Ruby Moon. Then get ready when the nausea passes," Yue said to me. Five years of marriage, and he still addresses me so formally.

"What, Ruby, are you in a state of inertia this morning? Heh," Eriol chuckled from behind. After the party, he stayed with us for a week with Kaho.

"Oh, yes. There is such a thing."

"Yue is right after all. You should drink less, otherwise you'll get into a lot of trouble. What kind of example are you setting for your students at school, anyway? Heh."

"Come on, I'm not human! The most I'll get out of this is a humming tram in my head."

"Even a "non-human" should know when to stop."

"Especially since today I'm going for a walk in the park with Yue! Ee-hee-hee."

"Apparently this walk means something to you, doesn't it?"

"Yes. The last time we walked in the park was seven years ago..."

Yes, it was seven years ago, in the summer at three o'clock in the afternoon, I thought it would be nice to take a walk in such good weather.

"Yue, Yue, Yue!"

"What else, Ruby Moon?"

"Let's go for a walk, the weather is so nice outside now!"

"Oh, you're like a little child. And Eriol gave you complete freedom when you forced Sakura to transform the cards?"

"Well, uh..."

"Ehh... Okay, let's go."

"Hooray!" I was so happy that Yue agreed to go for a walk with me. I called the estate to let them know I'd be gone for a while, and Suppi answered.

"Hello, Suppi. Tell Eriol that I won't be returning to the estate anytime soon."

"Where are you off to, may I ask?"

"Isn't it obvious from such good weather?"

"Let's say so."

"And so don't wait for me yet, I'm going for a walk with Yue. Kiss you, bye!"

"Ruby, stop!" I hung up.

"Yue! Are you ready there?"

"Yes. Let's go before I change my mind."

"Hooray! Let's run faster!" I was in a good mood that day. I wanted to run as fast as I could. But Yue walked calmly, the bore...

"Come on, Yue, why are you so slow like a turtle? Let's run faster!"

"Ruby Moon, you really are like a little child. Can you walk more calmly?"

"What's wrong? Are you afraid I'll overtake you? You little coward!" I egged him on, and unexpectedly, I succeeded.

"Coward? Heh... Since you insist..."

And suddenly Yue sharply overtook me. I was speechless, but not flustered. I ran after him and almost caught up. And then Yue suddenly stopped, and I didn't even notice that we had reached our destination.

"Well... You wanted to go to the park, right?"

"Yes."

"Then let's go. Why waste time?"

"Oh my!"

We entered the park, and it was so beautiful. Everyone was smiling, enjoying the nice weather. I heard ducks quacking in the pond, and of course, I ran over to it, taking Yue's hand.

"Yue! Yue! Look, ducks!"

*Quack, quack, quack, quack*

"Do you really like it?"

"Why shouldn't it? Isn't it sometimes worth enjoying everything like a little child?"

"Why do you think so?"

"Well... I came into this world in a way that wasn't natural. I never had a childhood, in the usual sense. And only in ordinary earthly joys can I understand it, and even then, not entirely."

"Oh..."

"Yes. But you know what, Yue?"

"Mmm?"

"I'm grateful to Eriol for creating me. Thanks to him, I've seen so many interesting things in this world."

And indeed, I was happy about everything, like a little child. But I don't care, I'll never fully understand it, since I've never been one.

"You know, Ruby Moon..."

"What?"

"You just reminded me of Clow Reed."

"Clow Reed?"

"Yes. He also often took me out against my will, just to stare at the ducks, heh. Amazing."

"I never expected to receive such comparisons."

"What, are you already starting to make noise?"

"Yue, you're mean!"

"I know, this is how Clow created me."

It was a beautiful day. We stayed there until evening. We returned to the estate.

"Well? Are you happy with today?"

"Yeah! Maybe you'll come over to our place?"

"Sorry, but I still have things to do."

Yue left, and I went into the estate, where Suppi met me.

"Hello, Ruby Moon."

"Hello, Suppi!"

"How was your day?"

"Wonderful! We were looking at the ducks."

"Good. I hope you haven't bothered Yue?"

"Suppi... You're insulting me! We had a lot of fun today!"

I was so happy...

"Oh, what a wonderful story. Do you want to repeat it today?" Eriol asked me.

"Yes!"

"Ruby Moon! Where are you?" Yue shouts at me.

"I'm already on my way!"

"Have fun there!" the master wished me.

"Thanks!"

It took me half an hour to get ready. I left the estate, where Yue was already waiting for me in the car.

"My God, Ruby Moon, you haven't changed a bit during our entire marriage!"

"Well, this is how Eriol created me!"

We drove towards the park, and less than half an hour later we were there.

"Here we are."

"We haven't been to this park for seven years, it has changed quite a lot."

“Yes,” Yue said.

We entered the park, everything was indeed different, but some things still remained the same.

"Look, Yue! Ducks!" I called Yue to the pond.

He came up to the pond and said kindly to me:

"Yes, Ruby. You're as usual, like a little child."
