Being a parent to someone like Gabrielle was a challenge and a reward for Logan.
You see, she was born and raised in Alchemax Genetics for the first thirteen years of her life.
While she was there, the doctors injected her with nanites.
When deactivated, they gave Gabrielle the inability to feel pain.
But when activated, they could override her healing factor and slowly kill her.
So it was a constant anxiety for Logan.
He wasn’t kidding when one day he caught her picking up a wasp’s nest to put it back in the tree.
“Gabrielle Zelda Kinney! What are you doing picking up a wasp nest?!” Logan exclaimed, half panicked, half exasperated.
Gabrielle just looked at him, giving an assuring smile as if the wasps couldn’t be nearby.
“Calm down, Dad. I have a healing factor, remember? And I can’t feel pain.” She assured as she nestled the wasp nest into a branch.
Logan sighed, running his hand down his face.
“Gabby. Baby girl. Please don’t do this to me! I already let you be honey badger.” He said wearily.
Gabrielle softened and bounded towards him, giving him a hug.
“Heh. I love you, Dad.”
Logan softly smiled.
“Love you too, Gabby.”
