Chapter Text

Sand. So much fucking sand.

He regretted not wearing better shoes as Lu Guang trudged through the hot dunes on his way to the door on the horizon. The sun rose higher and higher in the clear blue canvas, passing vultures joking with each other, sniggering if he'd make it. The weight of each step got heavier as the heat bared down on his pale skin, the linen white shorts clinging to his muscular calves, the floral button up practically dripping with salty sweat.

Its a wonder i don't get sunburn

The dream always started the same, he'd learned to just deal with it, no matter how hard he tried to lucid his way out of the nightmare. Time flowed strangely in this environment, what would normally take minutes in the real, took him seconds but then Lu seemed to have been walking forever this time before he reached the green wooden door.

He couldn't remember reaching it before. The feel of the golden doorknob engraved with a white lotus flower design was strangely warm. The paint was chipped slightly, stripes of brown wood exposed on either side. Lu Guang twisted and opened it, bright light encompassing him. He found himself in a long hallway, the smell of burnt wood sconces dimly lit both walls, textured purple wallpaper curled under the picture rail surround. Infact the only reason it was even a hallway at all was that there was another damn door at the end.

Seriously? How many more.

Suddenly the sound of wheels turning at speed, the smell of strawberries stopped Lu Guang in his tracks. The figure rushed passed him, turning their rollerblades to the side to an abrupt stop.

The boy turned. The first thing Lu Guang noticed were his golden eyes, shining even through the white light. The long brown hair in a small ponytail bobbing behind him, the side plait coming undone slightly with the speed. His loose white top and torn skinny jeans seemed to breath on their own as he spoke.

“You’re not supposed to be here yet,” he whispered "it's not time"

"Who are you?" Lu Guangs voice echoed into the hall

"You'll find out Guang Guang, you always do. See you soon" a soft smile spreading across his face, mischievousness in his teeth.

"I've always been alone in this, why are you here?"

"You're not alone, you're just having an idiotic dream" he giggled, speed gathering on his skates, launching himself into the light.

Then like a dropped snowglobe, the dream shattered — no fade out, no goodbye. A sudden sandstorm engulfed Lu Guang, his vision going black.
