Chapter Text

“Hinata,” Naruto said, “Remember the war, three years ago?”

Hinata’s expression did not change, but her brain immediately threw horrible memories in her face.

“Well, how could we forget?” Hinata replied.

This was true, though, three years had passed since the war. It felt so far away yet so close. So many things happened after the war, yet Hinata could not let go of the damage it had caused.

Nobody could. Nobody was able to forget those two days that felt more like two years. It changed the entire village.

“I wanted to ask,” Naruto continued, “What was your Infinite Tsukuyomi illusion?”

Hinata giggled, Naruto smiled. She thought he would ask a serious question, but this? Hinata could not help but laugh.

Seeing Hinata laugh made Naruto glad. He started laughing too. He did not realize Hinata’s hand slipped onto his own.

“It wasn’t an illusion, Naruto,” Hinata said when she calmed down, “It was a dream. A beautiful one.”

“Oh yeah? What was the dream then?” Naruto asked.

“It’s kind of embarrassing…” Hinata trailed off.

“Aw, c’mon, Hinata.” Naruto said, “We’re married. What’s so embarrassing about telling me your Tsukuyomi illusion– uhh… dream?”

Hinata smiled inwardly. She held onto the dream like a first grader who refused to reveal who her crush was.

“Well, I suppose I could make an exception for you,” Hinata said, “You are my husband after all.”

Hinata and Naruto turned their bodies so that they were facing each other, each giving the other their full attention.

Hinata took a deep breath, “I remember being encased in a cocoon,” Hinata began, “But a second later, I opened my eyes, and it was bright… and sunny.”

“I was leaning my head on a shoulder. Your shoulder, Naruto. Your hand was on mine, we were on a bench, I think.”

Naruto’s face was set in a thoughtful expression. Hinata had a feeling it was because he was trying to picture the scene in his mind.

So Hinata went on, “I sensed a presence behind us, but I was comfortable. I didn't want to turn around. But somehow, I just knew it was Hanabi.”

“How?”

“I’m not sure,” Hinata paused for a moment, “Maybe because it was a Tsukuyomi dream, I saw things differently. My memory isn’t perfect. But I'm sure I didn't use my Byakugan.”

“I was surprised, because I thought Hanabi was alone, then it turned out Neji was with her, gossiping about us;” Hinata could not stop herself if a few tears fell out of her eyes, at the memory.

“So, you found Neji the same weird way you found Hanabi?” Naruto asked.

“No,” Hinata said, “Neji just gossips too loudly.”

Chapter 3: Colors

Summary:

Day 2: Colors
Naruto lost his color vision on his 10th birthday. How does he get it restored?

Chapter Text

For years, Naruto’s world was gray, black, and white. However, it was not always like that.

Up until his tenth birthday, he saw color like any normal child. He saw red as red, blue as blue, orange as orange, green as green, and so on.

On his tenth birthday, he woke up feeling normal. His color sight was fine, too. But that night, at his birthday party, he had blown out the candles and was eating cake. He turned to his mom with a big grin, thanking her.

That was the last thing he saw in color.

Kushina smiled at him and ruffled his hair. Naruto blinked, and that was the worst second of his life.

All color was gone, all at once. Naruto fell to the ground in shock, sending his parents into a panic. His friends’ reactions varied, but they were all somewhat concerned.

The following hours were a blur. His father, Minato, took him to the hospital while Kushina stayed behind with the children until their parents came to pick them up, then she herself went to the hospital.

The next day, they went to visit Yamanaka Biwako, the midwife who was in charge of Naruto’s birth. After a quick examination, she determined that he lost his color sight at the exact minute he turned ten years old.

Over the years, not a single doctor nor ninja could find out what caused Naruto’s sudden loss of color. Time taught Naruto that he ought to suck it up and live the fuck on.

Nearly another decade had passed since Naruto lost his color sight. His 20th birthday was in four months, and that was when Kushina decided Naruto had to get married. Kushina had actually been nagging him to since he was eighteen.

“I just don’t want him to be miserable, ya know?” Kushina said to Minato one day while Naruto was away on a mission.

Naruto, however, had no wish to get married. He was busy proving himself and doing this and that. Kushina was glad for him, of course, but she was also afraid that if she was not around when he was ready, he would pick some little, pissy piece of shit as a wife.

“Back to Konoha!” The brown-haired child exclaimed, “Wow, wow, wow, wow. Thank you so much, Father.”

Hyuuga Hanabi and Hyuuga Hinata were the princesses of the Hyuuga clan. The Hyuuga clan head, Hyuuga Hiashi, had sent his daughters to an all-women boarding school outside of Konoha’s borders when they each turned nine. Neither has stepped a foot in Konoha since.

Hinata’s last year of school was completed. For the first time in ten years, she would return to her home village. Unfortunately, Hanabi assumed that this applied to both of them and was excited.

“Hanabi,” Hiashi said, his temper slowly rising, “You are to stay here and focus on your studies.”

Poor Hanabi was heartbroken, “...What?”

Something odd was happening to Naruto ever since the month began; his color sight was returning, but not fully.

On good days, the colors were dull but still there. On worse days, his sight was gray like before, but he could've sworn that there was a colored tinge to it. He was healing, even if it was a little. Medics really couldn’t understand what was going on.

“His eyes are the same,” Tsunade confirmed, “At least from a medical point of view.”

As he did before, he adapted to it. Yet, Naruto wished his color sight went back to normal; he would have been glad if his sight went back to gray and black. All the flickering between colors gave Naruto headaches.

“Naruto,” Kushina yelled, “we need groceries.”

Naruto walked out of his home, yawning. Kushina had woken him up mercilessly that morning. She shoved a bread roll into his mouth and pushed him outside, saying, “Your dad is busy in the office. We need groceries for lunch.”

As Naruto walked to the shopping area, he noticed something. Color was slowly coming to him. It was as if he was going towards it.

The sky’s blue was clearer than it had been in a while. The street was bright with sunlight glinting off its surface. Naruto was puzzled, but his sight had looked more or less like this for the past few days, so he did not think too much of it.

When he walked past Himari’s Jewelry, Naruto abruptly stopped.

He saw his own reflection in the store’s window. His hair was bright yellow. Almost as cheerful as he remembered seeing it when he was younger. The diamonds in the display shone. Naruto could not ignore this.

He nervously entered the store, wondering which jewelry it was that was restoring his color vision.

As it turns out, it was not a piece of jewelry; it was a woman. An ethereally beautiful woman.

Everything from her shining indigo hair to her goddess-like figure and her milk-white eyes was beautiful enough to outshine the jewelry around her. Or maybe it was because she was the most shining thing he saw in almost an entire decade.

Naruto walked towards the girl. The more he gawked at her, the more he realized that she looked familiar.

When Naruto was going to tap the girl, she turned around. They stared at each other for a few seconds. Then, recognition dawned on her face.

“Naruto-kun?” she said, “Is that really you?”

Oh.

No wonder she looked familiar.

Hyuuga Hinata, huh? From the academy?

Is this some kind of soulmate thing from god?

Chapter 4: Wedding

Summary:

Day 3: Wedding
How Naruto proposed to Hinata

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Uzumaki Naruto and Hyuuga Hinata have been dating for a while. Four years to be exact. Most of their friends around them are married, and Hyuuga Neji even had a child with his wife, Tenten.

When Naruto got an invitation personally given to him by his two lovesick birds of teammates, he wished he knew how to take the next step. Nonetheless, he was ecstatic for Sasuke and Sakura.

Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi were at one of their Team 7 dinners. This was the last dinner before Sasuke and Sakura’s wedding. The love between them was so evident that it was gross. To Naruto, at least.

Sakura was half-sitting on Sasuke’s lap, feeding him sushi, which Sasuke paid for.

Sasuke was used to Sakura’s public display of affection, and mostly managed to keep a straight face. He could also mostly control the insane amount of red and pink that used to creep up his neck and ears.

“Sasuke-kun,” Sakura said, “Do you want the Nigiri sushi next or the Maki?”

Sasuke paused for a second, “Maki,” he said.

Sakura skillfully maneuvered her chopsticks back to the plate and put one in Sasuke’s mouth. Kakashi watched with much interest. He was obsessed with his pupils’ romantic lives; it was concerning.

“Naruto,” Kakashi asked, “When is your engagement?”

“Soon,” Naruto said enthusiastically as he ate his food, “I’m figuring it out, but I will do it.”

Sakura overheard Naruto and turned to him with a grin, “Actually? You’re ready?” She asked, “I might have a great idea.”

The three of them ignored Sasuke’s brooding as he lost his fiancée’s attention.

Naruto picked up Hinata from her house for the wedding. She had a shiny purple halter top with a high-low skirt of the same color. The dress complemented her braided hair and light makeup perfectly. The best word to describe her at the moment was gorgeous.

They entered the wedding venue, and it was clear that Sasuke used his parents’ inheritance well.

The hall was wide and lavishly decorated. It was a wedding that suited the heir of the Uchiha clan well.

The ceremony itself began and went on smoothly, and nothing was unpleasant. Sasuke and Sakura said their vows in front of the Shinto priest. Then, Sasuke drank a cup of expensive sake, and Sakura followed, drinking from the same cup.

The ceremony neared its last. All Sakura had to do was throw her bouquet, then link arms with Sasuke, and walk to their new car.

Instead, Sakura turned to the guests, scanning them for bright yellow hair. Her eyes landed on Naruto, who was in the front next to Hinata. She let go of Sasuke’s arm and walked towards the couple.

The others present at the wedding watched with interest because this was not the norm. Kakahsi, on the other hand, spoiled the entire “secret” plan to Guy-sensei. The two men watched the proceedings with anticipation despite knowing what was going to happen.

Sakura, with four women behind her holding her veil, walked right up to Hinata and handed the bouquet of pink and white roses to her.

Confused, Hinata turned to Naruto and was shocked to see him on one knee with a white-gold ring with an amethyst.

“Will you marry me, Hinata?”

Yes.

“Where’s the cameraman?” Sasuke said.
