Blood in the Water
Sergeant Athena Michelle Grant was so set on saving the life of the child she believed to be in danger that she disregarded protocol and slammed into the apartment she thought the young girls were in that had recently given birth to the baby flushed down the toilet.
Her mind slid protectively from the fact that it was a trail of blood that had led her to that apartment from the hole where they believed the infant had been put down the pipe, as she slammed into the girls bedroom and forced the bleeding girl up to go with her down to the waiting ambulance and the hospital. Totally disregarding her mental thoughts on the blood about the girl child she was worried about instead of calling on her radio for help as was protocol.
Leading the girl draped over her shoulder by the arm, Athena Grant, the mother and not the officer, went down the stairs leaking yet more blood from the child she took with her, who had literally just given birth not long ago. Coming out to where the 118 was parked with the injured baby and demanding the child passed out on her arm be given precedence in the ambulance, not knowing the girl was near death because of the “help” the mother in Athena who always knew she was right demanded SHE help the child as her own family was falling apart at that moment at home. With this save, she could feel better about her home now.
By the time the paramedics got to the child mother she was DOA on Athena’s arm from bleeding out since the woman only wanted to be the single one to save her and never called for help in advance and insisted in moving the child new mother.
The Coroner’s Inquest into the matter brought on by the father of the child he claimed Athena carelessly murdered because of her own bias against their poor family declared her guilty of Man 1 in the Second Degree x 2 as the infant also died for lack of hospital care as the paramedics had to try and save its mother, and she was sentenced to twenty to thirty years in prison for her actions in being the one demanding to be one to demand she rescue the child mother instead in others.
Athena Grant was put in a locked facility on the protective ward as having been an officer before, then moved to the psych ward as she, like Macbeth's wife, only saw blood of the girl child on her hands now and Blood in the Water she washed her hands endlessly in forevermore.
She was never released from the care of the state facility and died in their care long after she was forgotten about by all those on the outside world.
