A Visit from JM

Summary:

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the farm...

Notes:

This poem is inspired by and dedicated to JM.

(Because the Kent Farmhouse Discord is completely unhinged)

Work Text:

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the farm,

Not a Kent soul was stirring, no cause for alarm,

Their red capes were hung by the chimney to dry,

In the hopes that the rest of the world would get by,

The twin boys were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of super saves danced in their heads,

My dear wife with her notepad, and I in my suit,

Had fallen asleep on the sofa, so cute,

When out in the yard there arose such a cry,

I pulled out of her arms to see what was ary,

Away to the back door I flew in a flash,

And once it was open, outside I did dash,

The starlight shone on the cornfields below,

Both the yard and the barn were covered in snow,

But right there in the center of my son's tire swing,

Sat a figure so vile I must call him a thing,

With a demonic smile so sinister and cruel,

I knew in that moment he must be a ghoul,

Yet something about him seemed oddly intended,

Like his face was akin to my sons, only blended,

"Who are thee! Who are thee!" I asked the beast child,

A shiver ran through me as he turned back and smiled,

I sped straight inside, shook awake my fair wife!

"There's a monster outside, you must run for your life!

Take our sons to the fortress and wait for me there,

I will protect our dear sons, on my heart I do swear",

So up to the bedrooms my wife quickly flew,

With her ELT in hand, and twin super suits too,

And then, with my hearing, I caught a cruel threat,

"I'm coming for your sons, they owe me a debt",

As I shot back outside, the strange creature was missing,

I span around in a fright when I heard the thing hissing,

He was behind me now, his eyes all aglow,

With a sinister hate I will never again know,

He clutched at my throat but I sped out of reach,

And he let out an animal's ear splitting screech,

His face - oh how eerie! My boys features were there,

Their cheek bones, their hair, their eyes - oh so fair!

His unsettling mouth drew back to show teeth,

And a green glowing weapon, he began to unsheath,

I felt kryptonite's agony rip through my bones,

And my legs buckled under me, followed by groans,

He grew closer and closer, I let out a scream,

And prayed to the gods this had all been a dream,

But then came a cry, from behind our old tire,

My sons stood behind it, their anger afire,

"Stay away from my Dad!" Jordan called to the beast,

And through tire swing they shot a round of string beans,

To my amazement I saw the thing flinch in surprise,

Then wither and twist as it met it's demise,

Lois ran from the house, asking "Clark, you okay?"

And I nodded dumfounded, with no words to say,

The boys shared a look, that I couldn't ignore,

It told me they'd encounteted this demon before,

At my frown of concern, Jordan told me the truth,

"That's just JM, don't worry, he's a douche."
