Chapter Text
Mary was going through hot flashes of pain in her legs, making her stride rather unsteady as she walked home. It took ages and various breaks in between before she even got to her apartment building. Once she finally climbed up the stairs, she noticed her door was unlocked and cracked slightly open. A weird, almost metallic aroma seeped out of the crack.
Mary sighed before walking into her apartment. The walls had streaks of red tracking into the kitchen. There was a figure at the sink with their back turned to her. That blonde hair and tall figure was all too familiar to Mary. "Nggh. .. I'm—fuck.. . . Sorry about your..walls..." The figure said through sharp breaths. They swayed as they tried to keep something under running water.
Mary approached the figure, lightly squeezing their shoulder to signal that she wanted to see. "How you're alive is a mystery to me, Victor." She said, examining the damage. A large slash carved itself into Victor's left arm, stopping right above the elbow. The blood was coming out in waves into the sink. Victor smiled at Mary's comment. "You know your 'baby' knows these streets.. too well to be caught by him." They said, winking before their face scrunched into that of discomfort. She frowned when they did.
Victor's eyes trailed down to Mary's still trembling legs. "Guessing-ffhh.. haa.. .-" Victor whispered curses through gritted teeth. "..-guessing your pain is immeasurable com. ..pared to m-mine..?" They said with a chuckle before turning to face the wall their body was threatening to slam into for stability. Mary simply squeezed their shoulder a little harder. Her legs were about to give up on her if she didn't sit down soon, they both knew that. Victor nodded before she could even ask if it'd be okay to.
After about 8 minutes of continuous running water and the sounds of cabinets opening and closing, Victor finally came out with a now bandaged arm. They took their spot beside Mary on the couch before scooping Mary's legs up into their lap. Victor's hands hovered over her thighs, their eyes searching for an answer. She nodded, leaning back against the armrest and, for the first time today, fully relaxed.
Victor's left hand was trembling but it felt as good as always. They never touched anything Mary didn't allow them to, as they just wanted to try and relieve some of her pain. Mary fell asleep a bit after they started their mini massage. Victor couldn't help the slight burning that flooded their cheeks and ears. They turned away but never stopped the massage.
