We met on a smoke break | Original Character Work

Summary:

Despite working in the same company for a while and exchanging emails from time to time, Hanako and Asahi never met face-to-face.

This changes at the annual Autumn Co-worker Party when they run into each other taking a smoke break.

Notes:

Hello! Thank you for opening my work!!

This is a story that I am writing about my two main original characters. I hope you enjoy it and stay tuned for more.

I will try to update it as often as possible so I keep my little babies alive.

Subject: Protagonist Concept Refinement

“Good morning, Asahi. Last night I refined the sketches on the protagonist concepts you sent me last week. I hope you find them to your liking, please send me an “okay” so I can push them to further analysis and polishing.

Have a great jolly day!”

Several grammar mistakes later, the email arrived in Asahi’s work inbox.
Rubbing his eyes from the pain of looking at a way too bright of a screen at 7 AM, Asahi put on his glasses and read the email again. He hoped she was joking.

The work was good, or at least he was drowsy enough to not be able to comment on it, but what in the world did the calling of his first name like that in an on-job email mean? What kind of sane person would wish him “a jolly day”. No day of working over 10 hours is jolly. Correction, no day is jolly, ever.

“Good morning, Miss Ogawa Hanako. I shall comment on your work when your Japanese use ascends from 5th grade to high school level.

Good luck.”

He almost gave a cruel smile. The new intern hirelings must have gone very poorly if he ends up bickering on email with the new company babies instead of having his coffee.
