Not since he traded papaya for Ferrari red, not since Lando stopped answering his messages. The silence had stretched between them like a second track, one lined with everything they never said.
Then came the crash.
One lap in the rain, one violent hit at 185mph, and suddenly Lando's not moving and the world stops turning.
Now Carlos is standing in the paddock, helpless, soaked to the skin, staring at a screen that won't cut away from the wreck.
