Chapter 6: Chapter Five: Apollo and Hades Being the Best Godly Parents Ever, Nothing More to Say

Summary:

Sally, Apollo, and Hades are the best parents; Poseidon will have to fight for the second position from Artemis who isn't even a parent

Notes:

So first of all, I am truly sorry for whatever that fight scene was cuz I really struggled with it. Idk why this chapter was so difficult for me to write, hope it was satisfactory enough.

Also a very heavy Hades/Pluto centered chapter. Not a lot of Hermes, Annabeth and Estelle here, but I didn't forget them I promise! It just didn't feel like they would fit well in this chapter.

Also I wrote a scene of Nico and Hazel's first meeting, and forgive me if it contradicted anything from canon, it has been so long since I read the books I couldn't remember what was canon and what wasn't. Also Nico might seem somewhat cheerful for his character in the flashback, but in all fairness, I just wanted to portray Nico as a teenager who clearly loves his sister. It wasn't me trying to make him occ but instead him having a different side when it comes to Hazel. Because I love Nico and Hazel so much, my babies.

Also fyi, I am sorry if I don't reply to anyone's comments. Everyone has been really supportive and I appreciate you guys a lot, however I kind of feel awkward when it comes to replying to people's comments. Really, reading the comments gives me huge motivation to continue this story, I just get awkward at replying. I will definitely reply if you guys spot something cool, have some criticism, or a question. I love it when you guys post simple comments, I just don't know how to respond to them.

Anyways, thanks for the support, and I hope you guys enjoy this chapter!

Chapter Five: Apollo and Hades Being the Best Godly Parents Ever, Nothing More to Say

Thalia and Clarisse tried to defend themselves from the strange monster that was attacking them to their best abilities, but there were two problems.

1. They did not have any weapons with them.

2. They could not recognize the monster.

Now, it was difficult to know every single monster that existed in Greece, after all they were humans with limited time to learn and meet every monster and so many ancient texts had been destroyed for them to have knowledge about everything.

Still, Thalia Grace was the lieutenant to Artemis herself, and during her tenure she had learnt and met more monsters during hunting than most demigods do in their lifetime. For a monster as powerful as the one in front of her to have gone unnoticed seemed unlikely.

The monster was a bird with two heads, one of a swan, and other of serpent that seemed to emerge from its back and circle around the body reaching for its prey. The rest of its body was reminiscent of a vulture with terrifyingly sharp claws and incredibly fast wings.

“What the fuck are these things!” Clarisse yelled, dodging the monster.

“Language!” Sally yelled. “There are young ears here.”

“Sally, I think we have bigger problems right now.” Paul told his wife, pulling her to his side as the monster tried to lunge for them.

“How we kill that thing?!” asked Thalia, screaming as she throws a rock at the bird-monster. “We don’t have any weapons, and I think the snake head is venomous! We can’t fight it with hands if it gets close enough to us!”

“How would you know that?!” Clarisse screamed back, copying Thalia’s rock-throwing strategy.

“Look at it!” Thalia screamed back. “A monster with a snake head and a bird head! Why wouldn’t it be venomous?!”

“Who thought it was a good idea to send a bunch of demigods somewhere they don’t know without any weapons?!” Clarisse yelled with frustration.

“More focus on fighting the monster girls!” Sally yelled.

Just then someone threw a spear like thing at the monster. It was a wood branch with a sharp stone tied to it by a vine. The flimsy weapon that had clearly been made in a rush, and while it did make the monstrous being bleed, it was not enough to kill the creature.

Everyone turned to the direction where the stick had come from, as they stared at little Will who had somehow drifted away from Sally and Paul in the middle of the chaos. The monster screeched in anger and dove towards the little eight-year-old. Paul Blofis, who was the closest to the child, immediately ran towards the child and tried to shield Will from the attack. Thalia tried to strike it down with lightening, but it was too fast that even lightening wouldn’t scar him.

Paul closed his eye, already accepting the fact that he was going to die shielding a child. He just hoped it would save Will’s life.

However, when Paul didn’t feel the monster’s beak attack him, he opened his eyes to find the bird dissolve into dust, a blonde man with a golden bow standing in front of them with a child and teenager.

Sally was the first to recognise the one of the people in front of her, “Percy?!”

“ZEUS!”

Zeus immediate sat up upon hearing his older brother yell out his name. Now Zeus was the king of the gods, he did not get scared very easily.

That said, Hades was his older brother, and regardless of how much power Zeus has, his older brother’s rage would always scare him.

With each of his siblings/wife, anytime they got angered he couldn’t help but feel somewhat afraid. Demeter’s dangerous anger sending famines to mortal, Hera’s cunning wrath causing his lovers and children to go through the worst types of situations, Poseidon’s blinding rage sending storms, hurricanes, cyclones, and floods to the mortal world. But Hestia and Hades were the most sensible out of them, and so when either of them got upset, Zeus knew he should be scared.

And now they both were angry.

“Hades, hi!” Zeus spoke, almost nervous upon seeing his brother’s seething form. “How ya doing brother?”

“How am I doing?! Are you seriously asking me how I am doing?!” Hades asked, raging. “Where is my son? What have you done that I cannot feel my son’s presence?”

“Oh, I thought we already told you. Some of the demigods have missing since this morning, alongside Apollo and Hermes.” Zeus informed him. “We’re looking for them, but none of the gods have anything to do with this as far as I can tell.”

“Missing? You didn’t bother to tell me that my son and one of my nephews who delivers the dead souls to my realm is missing?” Hades asked, glaring at his cowering brother. “How can you possibly take this so lightly?”

“Hey, we’re looking for them.” Zeus defended himself.

Hades looked at him and sighs, “Gods us, you are such a disappointment for a father. I feel for your children if this is the amount of concern you are showing to them missing. Immortals ones too, at that.”

“Now hold on just a sec-”

“Do not speak to me right now.” Hades stopped his younger brother. “I am deeply disappointed in you, and you better start looking for the children. I can only assume Perseus is one of the missing people considering his aptitude for getting into trouble, and I can only imagine Poseidon being just as angry. For once in your life, try to do something right and do your job.”

“I think that is enough, brother.” Hestia stepped up, grabbing Hades' arm in hopes to calm her younger brother down. “I understand your anger; it is completely reasonable. However, this is not helping anyone. How about we go visit your daughter at the Roman camp instead? I don’t think she knows her brother is missing, and if anything, she should at least have her father deliver this devastating news.”

Hades’ temperament softened at his sister’s words. “You are correct as always, sister. I suppose it is about time I pay my Hazel a visit. It is too much to hope anything good from our brother, anyways.”

And with that, Hades left the throne room with Hestia, at which Zeus sighed from relief.

Artemis had driven her hunters to Camp Half-Blood on her moon chariot the moment she left Olympus. She didn’t feel the camp was a safer place for her huntresses considering most of the demigods that have gone missing were also there, but she wanted to keep them close at the moment while also keeping an eye at her twin’s children.

Artemis knew that her brother loved his children to an extent many gods did not understand, especially after his trials. She knew that he would be devastated if his children were left without anyone to look after them when he was incapable of doing so, and so she decided that until they returned, cabin seven would be in her protection the same way it had been during Apollo’s trials as a mortal.

When she walked into her brother’s unnecessarily bright golden cabin, she noticed the nervous chatter her nieces and nephews were engaged in. She couldn’t blame them when their father and older brother had gone missing in one night.

“Lady Artemis?” Apollo’s current second oldest demigod, Kayla Knowles spoke. Artemis did not know if she should consider the young girl the oldest now that Will Solace was missing but decided against it unless she finds some proof.

The rest of the cabin realised that she was standing there and immediately stood up to kneel to her. For the first time since her birth, she found it strange that these children, children of her brother, thought that they had to bow to her. She was their aunt, she did not come here to act as a goddess, and yet they have carried on this tradition for millennium.

Gods, they were just children. How could she and her family let them fight wars when they were so tiny and fragile?

She raised her hands and spoke in a firm but gentle voice, “Children please, there is no need for formalities. I am here to act as your aunt, not as a goddess.”

The demigods looked uncertain at her words. Still, Kayla nodded and welcomed her in and the rest of them made way for her to sit on one of the beds. Artemis found it rather peculiar just how many beds were in the cabin. She was certain no other cabin had nearly as many beds, and her cabin most certainly did not have more than half the amount of furniture in comparison.

“So, um...” Austin Lake started speaking, and Artemis recognised him from the videos Apollo would show her to boast about how incredibly talented his son is. Then again, he did that for each one of his children. “It’s not that we’re not appreciative of you showing up, but what are we supposed to do?”

Artemis understood why the demigods were feeling so awkward, because truth be told, she felt just as awkward. She rarely interacted with men outside of her brother, and her brother’s children consider of every gender that existed. Usually her interactions with demigods that weren’t girls or her hunters did not end without her turning someone into a jackalope.

Turning Apollo’s children into jackalopes was not an option, even though they would look adorable as one.

“I will admit, I do not really know how to do the whole family thing quite well. The only family I interact with are Apollo and my hunters.” Artemis spoke instead. “That said, I want to here to provide support that my brother would have tried to provide had he been here. I don’t really know how to start it, perhaps you children have some queries that I can answer?”

Immediately, the goddess of moon was bombarded with questions. She tried to answer their questions to her best abilities, yet deep down she thought that maybe she could make it work.

The unpredictable part of their journey was that surprisingly, they did not find any trouble yet. Which was surprising considering it was one Olympian god and two demigods.

The predictable part? It was the most awkward walk Luke has ever been on. He had not expected to land in an alternate version of Ancient Greece even when he had still been alive and used to all the crazy that came with being a demigod, but then getting paired with the demigod he had tried to kill on multiple occasions and an Olympian from his own world who clearly despised him yet did not kill him was certainly not on his bingo card.

In a way, he was surprised by his companions. Despite having been enemies in the war field, Luke and Percy were both distrustful of gods. Percy Jackson was known for backtalking gods on a regular, from minor gods to kings of gods, that boy had no fear when it came to reminding them his disapproval over their actions.

On the other hand, Apollo was supposed to a powerful Olympian, who might seem chill to some, but was also known for having a terrifying wrath. There were many people who suffered from his wrath, the Acheulean in the Trojan War, Cassandra, Niobe and her children, Coronis, Halcyon.

It was surprising to see the saviour of Olympus and the god of plagues get along so well. Mortals and demigods were never friends. Even when Luke had been leading the Titan’s side in the second Titanomachy, he and any other Titan had not been friends. He was always below them in status, and the rest of the demigods and monsters were below him.

Immortals never acted nice to demigods unless they had something to gain. So why was Apollo acting so nice?

“How far are they?” asked Percy, whining like a child on a road trip.

And Percy was a child right now, just two years younger than the time Luke would summon the pit scorpion to sting and kill him. What had he been thinking to believe that he was in the right to that? That his anger towards the gods justified killing a twelve year?

“Not that far,” Apollo replied calmly.

“That’s what mom says every time we go on a trip,” Percy complained. “That always means that it would take at least one hour.”

Apollo looked amused at Percy’s antics, “I assure you I am not going to make you walk for a whole hour without any breaks. I understand that mortal humans require rest and food and water. Far more than my family would realise considering my last experience as one.”

Percy snorted, “Alright, so mom is nearby then?”

Apollo nodded, “Yes, I don’t believe they should be too far.”

Silence once again engulfed the group when suddenly Apollo’s eyes flashed gold. His eyes widened as he spoke, “Both of you, grab my hands and close your eyes.”

“What? What’s happening?” asked Luke, confused.

“Yeah, is everything alright?” Percy inquired further.

“Will is in danger. I don’t know who else is with him, but I felt him call out to me,” Apollo told them. “Now quickly, we do not have to waste.”

“But we don’t have any weapons!” Luke argued.

“Yeah, riptide did not come with me.” Percy agreed. “How will we help him?”

“Do you both forget that I am a god?” Apollo asked, looking at the two with disbelief. “I can summon any weapon at any time. Now quick, give me your hand and close your eyes.”

Percy would say that, yes, he did forget that the man in front of him was a god, but he did not have the time to say that because Apollo then frantically grabbed his and Luke’s hand and teleported them to a different scene.

It was a more forested area than they had been at. His mom and stepdad were there alongside a younger version of Clarisse and Thalia throwing lightening and anything heavy they could find at a strange monster that he had never seen before in his entire life.

The monster was aiming for Will, who was even younger than the rest of them. Paul ran over to shield the young demigod, and the moment the monster was about to make its kill, Apollo shot an arrow that tore the bird-snake thing, turning it into glittering monster dust.

“Percy?!” his mom yelled, and Percy wasted no time in running to her and making sure she was alright.

“Mom!” Percy exclaimed. “Are you okay? Did you get hurt by any chance?”

“Nothing serious that you have to worry about, dear.” Sally reassured him. “And you? You didn’t get into any trouble on the way here, did you?”

Percy shook his head, “Don’t worry mom. We were fine. Apollo made sure we ate and drank water and stuff.”

“I suppose I owe him a thank you then.” Sally spoke, kissing her son’s forehead. “It has been so long since I’ve had you this tiny. Can’t deny, I missed it.”

“I, too, am glad that I get to see how you looked at this age.” Paul spoke, walking to them. “Truly the cutest ten-year-old I’ve ever met.”

“Stop it both of you.” Percy blushed. Sally and Paul chuckled at the young boy’s expense.

Meanwhile, Will realised that his dad had come to his rescue and immediately ran to his father like a child at the end of school day. Overwhelmed by paternal instincts upon seeing his son turned eight, Apollo immediate picked Will into his arms like a protective father.

“Dad!” Will exclaimed, happily settling into his father’s embrace. “I missed you!”

“I missed you too, my sweet boy.” Apollo told his son, and he meant it. It had been nearly a year since he had gotten to hold his demigod children. Sure, he spoke with them in dreams, but they were nothing compared to having them in front of you. “Did you get hurt?”

“I think everyone else is more injured.” Will told his father, having a concerned expression that looked absolutely adorable on his face. “I saw the monster hurt Clarisse badly, and I could feel Mr. Paul’s knee is bleeding when he came to save him.”

“Don’t worry for them, sweetheart. I will heal them to my best ability.” Apollo reassured his son. “You acted so bravely today, I am incredibly proud of you.”

Little Will blushed at the compliment from his father.

Meanwhile, Thalia and Clarisse noticed that a certain demigod that had accompanied Percy and Apollo.

“You,” Clarisse snarled, looking at Luke Castellan with eyes filled of hatred.

Luke, being somewhat smart enough, decided to back off from the daughter of war. She might not have a weapon with her, but that was under no circumstance a reason to underestimate her.

“Hey, I call dibs!” Thalia yelled, also walking towards Luke, glaring at her old best friend. “How are you even alive?”

“I don’t know!” exclaimed Luke. “One minute I was about to choose rebirth, next I was waking up in an alternate Greek universe.”

Thalia and Clarisse blinked, confused at the information. “What?”

“Is that why you’re wearing whatever that is?” asked Thalia, looking at him critically.

“Wait, stop trying to distract us!” Clarisse yelled. “I won’t fall for your tricks, how do I even know you aren’t Kronos?”

“Because my betrayal at the end had angered him. He would never trust me again after I made sure he wouldn’t succeed.” Luke told her. “I have already sworn on river Styx that I wouldn’t harm anyone present here and mean no harm to anyone. You can ask Percy and Ap- Lord Apollon to confirm.”

Clarisse turned to the god who was still carrying his de-aged son, and when the god hesitantly nodded in confirmation, Thalia sighed.

“I don’t know if I want to hug you or punch you.” Thalia told Luke.

“Um, I’d prefer the hug option.” Luke replied.

Thalia narrowed her eyes, observing the demigod in front of her. “Okay, I’ve decided.”

Let’s just say, Luke Castellan had to be treated by Apollo himself after Sally Jackson convinced him that they couldn’t let the demigod kneeling over in pain, much to the disappointment of the remaining demigods and the god himself.

Hazel Levesque was having an okay day.

It was a normal day for the Camp Jupiter. Everything had been going according to the schedule, and now it was time for lunch. She was seated with Frank, the praetors enjoying their meal.

However, despite the normality of the day, she couldn’t help but feel uneasy. Something had happened; she could tell. But she didn’t know what it could possibly be.

“Something is bothering you,” Frank spoke, looking at her with concern. “What is wrong?”

“I don’t know. Do you feel like something has happened today?” asked Hazel. “Like something really big that probably at a large scale?”

Frank frowned, “I don’t know. Something is wrong with the sun, it doesn’t feel as warm and comforting as it usually does when Apollo drives the chariot.”

“I didn’t really notice that,” Hazel told him, also frowning. “That’s strange though. What do you think could be the possible reasoning behind that.”

Frank shrugged, “I don’t know. It’s not like Apollo would have been turned mortal again. And you seem to be bothered by something that isn’t Apollo.”

Hazel sighed, “I wish I knew what was going on. Perhaps I should Iris Message Nico soon, he always knows things more than most.”

Just as she completed her sentence, shadows started to emerge from the ground and her father, Pluto, appeared from the thin shadowed, along with his sister, the goddess of hearth, Vesta.

Despite the wary Romans had towards the god of the wealth, they all had the manners to stand up kneel to the god.

The god raised his hand, “Stand, this is not a formal visit. My sister and I are here to speak to the praetors; rest may return to their business.”

The camp tried to follow the god’s commands, but they also stared at them as Hazel and Frank approached the two elder gods.

“My lord, my lady, it is an honour to be in your presence.” Frank spoke, and Hazel was proud of her boyfriend for not stuttering too much from nerves.

Pluto’s dark eyes shifted to him, “I appreciate the welcome. However, we would prefer to speak in private if possible.”

Frank nodded frantically, “Of course, sir. Right away.”

Pluto would later receive a jab from his older sister for scaring the son of Mars.

The gods were lead into the praetors’ office by the two demigods, where the four took a seat.

“Now, I hadn’t wished to make such a scene, but it would seem that you were far too busy at any other time.” Pluto spoke.

“Father, I thought you couldn’t acknowledge my presence due to the circumstances revolving around my resurrection.” Hazel spoke, confused that her father was paying her a visit.

Pluto sighed, “Unfortunately, the situation has changed. Rest assured, you will continue to remain alive until it is truly your time. Zeus has already angered me enough; he would not cause me any harm.”

Hazel only grew more confused, “Did something happen today?”

This time it was Vesta who answered, “Yes. Something strange and powerful had placed all of us to sleep tonight, and during our slumber, they have taken some of your friends from the Greek side, along with two Olympians.”

Hazel and Frank looked at the two gods in shock.

“Wha- who is missing?” Frank asked, recovering from the shock quicker than Hazel.

“Perseus, Annabeth, Clarisse, William, Thalia, and...” Pluto hesitated, unsure of how to address the situation. Finally, he looked at Hazel as he spoke, “Your brother, Niccolo.”

If Hazel wasn’t already seated, she would have probably fallen on the ground at the news like some Victorian maiden.

Nico was her older brother in every sense of the world. He had been the reason why she was here, why she had people around her, why she was now leading people, why she got a second chance at life, why she was alive in the first place. Nico had found her in the underworld, and he had no reason to rescue her. But he did, and he loved her and taught her everything he could. And in return she loved him just as much.

Because that was her brother, and it did not matter if she was Roman and he was Greek, she would always love him, and he would always be there for her until the end of life. He had promised her that he would always be there for her, he couldn’t just disappear! It wasn’t fair!

Two years ago, Hazel Levesque had been a resident of the underworld for more than sixty-five years. At least she believed it had been that long, but she couldn’t be sure. Time worked differently in the underworld, especially in the fields of Asphodel.

It was just another day of loneliness that came from death. She was different from rest of the souls here; unlike them she could still talk and feel and think. She had somehow managed to keep her consciousness intact when no one was supposed to. Perhaps it was because she was Pluto’s daughter, or perhaps her father had decided to punish her for falling to Gaea’s manipulation.

She did not know the answer to her questions, and life (or death) in eternity of doing nothing gave one more than enough time to come up with theories regarding ones’ fate.

She had been busy entertaining herself with her thoughts on useless questions and theories when she heard the sounds of footsteps moving in her direction. Hazel frowned, Asphodel never had visitors and its residents did not have the consciousness or the ability to walk.

“Hello?” Hazel called out. “Is someone here?”

The footsteps stopped, before the figure’s movement became more focused towards.

“Bianca?” the voice called out, hesitantly. It sounded like a boy, probably the same age as her and Sammy. Or what Sammy had been before her mother led them to their deaths.

Hazel did not know who Bianca was, but she assumed the voice was looking for whoever she was. Finally, a figure appeared, a young thin white boy around the same age as her. He wore a very black-forward outfit and had silver rings all over his fingers.

Hazel was surprised to realise that he was still very much alive. He did not feel like a god, but he wasn’t dead like everyone else either.

The boy frowned when he looked at her, and Hazel feared what the boy had to say. He was probably disappointed to find a coloured woman instead of whoever he was searching for.

The boy clearly realised something that she hadn’t as his expression softened to an extent, something that caught her off-guard because white boys never looked at her or people like her in that way, “Hello, I am Nico.”

“Hazel,” she introduced herself nervously.

“Nice to meet you Hazel,” Nico said, smiling at her warmly, which further confused her. “Hazel, I must admit that I am surprised to find you here. People in Asphodel aren’t really supposed to have their consciousness intact.”

“You are also talking to me,” Hazel pointed out, even though she knew he wasn’t a resident of this place.

Nico was most likely a demigod, Hazel was sure of that. He radiated power in a way that she definitely hadn’t in life. He didn’t really look very strong, with his thin build and short height, but that almost felt like it was intentional. A challenge to underestimate him. But the sword attached to his hip, the skull ring his finger, the dangerous glint of purple in his eyes made it clear that he was much stronger than he was supposed to look.

And yet, something about him felt right. Like she could trust him.

“I am a son of Hades; I belong to underworld.” Nico told her. “And from what I can tell, you are too his daughter too.”

“My father is Pluto.” Hazel replied, confused. She felt drawn to him, but she did not who Hades was.

Nico frowned, looking like he was deep in thought. “Pluto? Isn’t that just the Roman name for Hades?”

Hazel shrugged, “How would I know.”

Nico was still thinking but eventually decided to allocate that task to a different time. “Do you know why you are still conscious here? Because you shouldn’t have any awareness left.”

“I thought it was because I was Pluto’s daughter.” Hazel replied.

Nico shook his head, “No, that’s not quite right. Underworld is not biased, it doesn’t matter whose daughter you are, if you belonged in Asphodel, you’d be long gone.”

Hazel frowned. She didn’t understand what that could possibly mean. She had been sentenced to Asphodel by the judges; how can she not belong here then?

“Can I hold your hand for a second?” Nico asked her abruptly, and Hazel only grew more confused. She didn’t know what to think of it.

Reluctantly, she raised her hand in his direction, and he carefully grabbed it with surprisingly gentle hands. His eyes closed and she could suddenly feel shadows surround them. Then suddenly his eyes open with wide shock, and he removed his hands from hers.

“I did not think something like this was possible.” Nico told her. “But from my understanding, Atropos did not cut your thread. You died, and yet the fates dictate that you are supposed to live.”

“What? How does that even work?” Hazel asked with confusion.

“Let me try something. Don’t move.” And then in the most surprisingly manner, Nico took out his sword and immediately stab the roots that kept her stuck to the fields.

Even more surprisingly, the roots seem to disappear, and after decades, Hazel was finally able to feel her feet. She would have fallen on flat on her face if Nico wasn’t there to help her maintain her balance.

“I don’t understand, I could have just broken out of there?” asked Hazel, confused and shocked.

Nico shook his head, “No, the fates wanted me to free you. I don’t know what that mean, but I suppose I can appreciate gaining a sister from whatever they plan.”

“Sister?” asked Hazel, surprised by the quick acceptance. She had lived her entire life being treated like dirt for being black by white men, and yet here in death, she had found a white boy who was immediately accepting her as his sister before even knowing each other for five minutes.

It was almost as surprising as being alive.

“Well, we share the same father, don’t we?” asked Nico, grinning at her cheekily. “I don’t know about the whole Pluto thing, I’ll probably ask father about it, but you are my sister now, which means we stick together.”

Hazel looked at him dumbfounded, then smiled slightly at his enthusiasm. “We stick together?”

Nico nodded, “You are my little sister now. I don’t know what the fates have planned, but no matter what happens, I’ll always be there for you. We’re on the same team now.”

“Technically you don’t know if I am the younger sister or the older one.” Hazel spoke. “I could be older than you.”

“Little sister,” Nico insisted, almost playfully. “Tiny baby sister.”

“You are short too.” Hazel argued, but she was smiling too.

“We should take up the complaint to father,” Nico nodded with mock seriousness. “Clearly short height is a disadvantage of his parentage.”

Hazel giggled at her new brother’s comment. Nico smiled and offered her his hand, and she took it as they made their way towards the palace of Hades/Pluto.

In the current time, Hazel couldn’t help the sob that escaped her. Lady Vesta had taken Frank with her as Lord Pluto requested alone time with his daughter.

The lord of the dead gently pulled his daughter into an embrace, and Hazel broke down crying at the news of her missing brother and friends.

“I am sorry my gem.” Pluto spoke, gently. “My Greek counterpart only received the news of disappearance of your brother and your friends a few minutes ago.”

“He has already gone through so much,” Hazel spoke in between her cries. “They all have. Why must they get involved into something else? Haven’t they been through enough?”

“The fates are cruel, my child.” Pluto replied, gently caressing her hair. “The only assurance I can provide you is that my Greek counterpart and I will not stop until we have found the children back and bought them home safely. I will not lose another son, and you most certainly will not lose a brother or any friend.”

Hazel nodded at her father’s words, but she couldn’t find herself to feel reassured at them.

Poseidon found himself at the front gates of the Jackson-Blofis family.

Truth be told, he was terrified to tell his former lover the news of their missing son.

Poseidon was a man whose types in lovers could described as brilliant and terrifying. Whether you looked at his wife Amphitrite or his other lovers, they all fit the description. And while Poseidon loved and admired each one of them, the idea of facing Sally Jackson regarding their son going missing again was something he did not want to experience.

Unfortunately, his older sister had told him that he needed to get his act together and visit the mother of his favourite son, which meant that he was about to face a very angry mother.

Or so he had assumed.

Instead, he found the apartment to be completely empty.

Poseidon frowned as he looked around the mortal household. It was strangely empty, the doors were locked from inside as if people were still inside, yet it looked like no one had even woken up for breakfast.

Don’t mortals have to go on work every day? Poseidon was certain they needed to eat more than once a day to survive.

He first checked the living room, then the kitchen, even Sally and Paul’s bedroom and little Estelle’s nursery. And yet, nothing. No clue of his former lover and her mortal family.

After the inspection, the realisation that came to Poseidon was accompanied by fits of rage. Whoever had decided to steal his son, had also stolen away his son’s family.
