Chapter Text
When peering into the mirror, it can be easy to forget exactly how vast the mirror worlds are, the multitudes that spread out infinitely. Some worlds are close together, so close that they feel like the change is in the viewer instead of the world. Some are so far apart, what one wonders if a connection even exists at all.
This is a world where The City doesn’t exist. Where there is no Head. Where the Fingers still exist, but in smaller, weaker forms. Where the cornerstone of technology is not Singularities, but a wonder material known as “Dust.” Where the Outskirts are known as the Grimlands, and hunted by jet-black beasts covered in bone armor.
In this world Shin is considered a baseline technique any savvy combatant must have unlocked, though Mang is still considered a very advanced technique. EGO is largely unknown to the world at large, only coming into prominence because of The Library years ago.
Abnormalities are a well guarded secret, still hidden and contained in the fallen ruins of Lobotomy Corporation. Distortions are rare, but not unheard of.
The Children of Limbus Company still exist, though not quite as one might remember them. Many of them are younger, still troubled, but without The City to wear away at them most are more stable than their City counterparts.
Of course, it’s possible that a reader may be more familiar with Remnant than the City, in which case another angle may be necessary.
This is a world where Remnant is ridden with crime and secret politics lingering beneath the surface. A world where Fixers exist as a compliment to Huntsmen. Where Huntsmen are powerful combatants who face down the grimm, Fixers are mercenaries who serve many purposes, some legal and some not.
The Fall of Mountain Glenn coincided with another incident, the White Night and Dark Days, which was the result of an experiment by Lobotomy Corporation to awaken the latent potential of all of humanity. It was a partial success, which awakened the possibility of EGO and amplified the use of Shin and Man. But the process was incomplete.
Years later, the Library Incident occurred, leading to the disappearance of hundreds of people, but in the aftermath much of the damage was restored and The Library vanished.
It was after this event that Limbus Company was created, a multinational team to gather the remains of The Light released by the Library, now taking the form of Golden Boughs.. For this purpose, the Sinners were recruited, due to their resonance with The Light.
The Sinners have been together for some time now. They’ve plundered the depths of a dead Lobotomy Corp branch, secured a Bough by gambling in Mistral, avenged a hometown, freed an imprisoned heart, hunted the Black Whale, witnessed the death of a family, ended a deluded dream, and unveiled long buried emotions.
But now, they find themselves gifted with an ally, and cursed with far too much time on their hands. For the first time someone needs their aid, and in haste to make the best of this warm relationship the Sinners are eager to fill it.
This is the Mirror World of Remnant: The Story of Team JDEE (Jade)
