Work Text:

Azazel isn't lying, not this time. He really isn't a regular mutant. Many of his powers continue to work even when nullifier cuffs are placed on him. That was a major surprise when he was delivered to the gang bound and gagged…and still bright red. Still highly demonic. The only thing that changed was that he could no longer teleport away or mind control them. Thankfully. Still, the group almost called the whole thing off right then, however they had sworn a blood oath to get revenge in the only way likely to be felt by the monster, and they’d already done dangerous deals behind the scenes with other spell casters. If it weren't for him not being a regular mutant, he wouldn't thwart his captors' plans for him as much as he does, and he would likely have died long before the first month was up. And that would have been okay with Guard C, as he's known to his victim. Initially that would have been okay. The red mutant had an affair with his wife and daughters, after all.

But it takes a more deadened man than Guard C is to do what he's doing, and not be affected by it. You can't have sex with a thing person once a day at least, and see and hear all their pain and suffering, and take care of them in between, and not develop some sort of softer human feeling. You either do that or you become a zombie. One that doesn’t rot, but which is dead nonetheless.

“Stop!” the mutant cries, during the daily gang rape, the chains binding him straining as he attempts to shield himself from the blows crashing down on him, attempts to get away from the violations and the hands pawing his flesh and wrapping around his throat. His voice is beginning to pluck certain strings in Guard C’s soul. With the curse they applied, having sex with him is functionally like having sex with a woman, and so the twisted situation begins twisting C’s mind, making his brain pitch up Azazel's voice till it sounds like a female shrieking in pain. That makes him feel real bad, but the instant the forest of bodies move aside slightly and he catches sight of the very male upper body and chest attached to the feminine parts he's enjoying, the illusion is shattered. Then he feels disgust, and then he joins in on hurting the captive in order to feel better about what he’s doing. He’s not cheating on his wife, and he’s not having sex with a man.

But C’s excuses receive fatal blows when Azazel suffers his fifth miscarriage. All the others he'd shrugged off, or pretended to, but his self control has been diminishing for a long time, as has his personality. Even his skin has dulled over the days, months, years, changing from crimson or scarlet, to a grey-red. It’s C’s turn to take care of the prisoner’s needs, thus it falls to him to deal with the blood and all that is left over. Blood is a daily event when dealing with a sex slave, especially because the mutant heals from whatever is done to him so you can hurt him again, endlessly, and never be satisfied. But until now he hadn't kept a pregnancy for so long, and so what is left over after the premature labour is a recognisable baby. Dead, of course.

Before C can get rid of it, a red tail, barely used anymore and not restrained so that it can be played with by those who find it sexy, scoops up the infant and gently places it on its parent's heaving, swollen stomach, before the tail flops back down on the floor like a lifeless thing. That tender action, and the broken sobs coming from the prisoner make a dry and desiccated chord of C’s heart thrum. The criminal chained to the floor seems not to care that he’s present. At the same moment it occurs to him that the tiny corpse could be his child, as utterly deranged and unnatural as that is. Utterly deranged and unnatural and cruel - something he agreed to and perpetrated in the aid of…what? Revenge that never comes.

“Don’t.” The mutant gasps, when he goes to take the small corpse from him.

“I can’t leave it. You won’t like that either.” The idea of the child rotting hurts now, now that both it and its father/mother have been irretrievably humanised in C’s eyes.

Azazel can’t focus his eyes very well, however he manages to fix them both on C, but no rage or hate or anything like that fills their yellow depths. “Bury him or her. Don’t burn them. Please.”

“Okay.” a swell of what feels like madness carries C further. “I promise.”

A whirlwind of emotions arrives after that experience, and he excuses himself from the evening's fun and games, and any others he can get away with.

The next time he sees the prisoner, he no longer appears to be the ugly monster he used to be. He hasn't shapeshifted, but he's changed regardless, or C has. When something C does hurts the ‘incubus’ and makes him wince or groan, he feels bad. Real bad, no matter that Azazel’s actually a man. When no one's looking he gives him painkillers and mind altering drugs to take him away from the torment. He goes as easy on him as he can. He suggests that the gang have gotten their revenge. That they abandon their plans. There's not much else he can do. Not much else he dare do. He can't let the man free without repercussions to himself.

At least, he can't, doesn't dare to until Azazel gets pregnant a year later, and doesn't miscarry. By then C has picked up one of the fangs one of the other guards yanked out of the slave’s mouth for fun, and has turned it into a necklace, ready to claim he got it off a tiger or wolf or something if someone asks.
