“Hey guys, weird question but…what’s your favorite Valentine’s memory?” Fizz wondered.
It was a family dinner night at Barbie’s apartment and they were having a beef stir fry dinner. Fizz’s question was unexpected but not necessarily unwelcome since it was a reasonable thing to ask. The gang looked up from their plates on the couch before thinking it over, each having a very different answer.
“Well the cinnamon rolls I made for Sallie May were pretty nice…” Barbie smiled softly, taking a bite of the cooked carrots. “Making something for her meant a lot to her…and the candy she made me was really nice too.”
Cash patted his daughter’s back before looking up at the ceiling, shutting his eyes with a fond smile. “Tilla always deserved to be treated like a queen…but Valentine’s Day I really wanted to pull out all the stops. We’d do something real fun like goin’ to the spa or to a conveyor belt sushi place,” he recalled, laughing a bit. “She was so happy when I tried somethin’ other than cooked meat. Actual fuckin’ crab and fatty tuna tasted delicious.”
“Huh! Maybe I’ll take Stolas to one of those places on our next date night,” Blitz mused as he gnawed on some meat, blushing at the grinning faces of his family. “W-What are you all smirking at?”
“Come on, buddy, it’s your turn~” Fizz teased.
“You and your birdy have had to do somethin’ special by now, right?” Cash snickered.
“Fess up~” Barbie finished in a singsong voice.
Blitz blinked before giving them a sly grin. “Do ya want the G-rated answer or the more spicy answer?” he offered, laughing at their blushing faces.
“G-RATED!” they shouted.
“Okay okay!” The assassin imp laughed, holding his hands in defense in case they decided to whack him with pillows. “Stolas and I went to this nice indoor garden thing on Earth. He’d been wanting to add some more flowers and shit to his greenhouse so he had a lot of fun buzzin’ around checking the plants out and writing down the names so he could add ‘em to the blank in there.”
“Wow that’s really sweet,” Barbie commented, lowering her pillow as she took a bite of meat. “You goin’ soft, bro?”
“W-Well he likes it so I wanted to make him happy!” Blitz blushed. “A-And after we went to this observatory thingy to check out the stars like humans do…”
“Wait can’t he go to space or whatever and see ‘em that way?” Cash recalled from their little adventure in the summer.
“Yeah but we were already on Earth and he wanted to see how humans did it,” the younger twin told him. “And it was…pretty nice and dark in there while we watched the show.” He then gave them a grin. “When we got back, it was even more fun if ya know what I mean.”
Fizz shook his head at his innuendo before feeling his family’s eyes on him. “W-What is it?”
“Well we told our stories. Now it’s your turn, Fizzy-boy,” Cash told him, curious what his surrogate son would have to say.
“I bet Ozzie’s a real romantic now that your relationship’s out there,” the curled horned imp woman smiled knowingly.
Fizz felt his face feel hot as he glanced away. “Oh we uh…don’t really do much for Valentine’s Day,” he told them, hoping his voice sounded casual. He looked up at his family and winced at their stunned faces.
“Wait…seriously?” Blitz questioned incredulously. “Does work keep him that busy? Is Valentine’s Day for him like Kiss-Moose for humans?”
“If he’s bein’ cheap, I’ll kick his ass!” Cash promised, cracking his knuckles for emphasis.
“No no! It’s nothing like that!” the younger imp promised. “He’s just never celebrated it at all!”
Being more level-headed than her dad and brother at the moment, Barbie looked at Fizz seriously. “Fizz…do you wanna celebrate it?” she asked him point-blank.
“I mean…I wouldn’t mind trying it out…” he mumbled, feeling shy as he ate some rice. “I just don’t want to bother him about it…”
“Take it from someone that has the worst communications issues known to demonkind; tell him!” Blitz advised. “I’m pretty sure he can’t read your mind so talk to him.”
“It can’t hurt if ya do and I think he’ll appreciate the honesty,” the former ringmaster reasoned.
Fizz picked up a mushroom before nodding slowly, taking a bite. He knew they were right and as good as their relationship was, there were some things they needed to work on. Ozzie was a sweet and caring guy but he could be a bit clueless sometimes when it came to demons lower on the hierarchy.
The second trial was a wakeup call but he did need reminders every now and then.
With Valentine’s Day, Ozzie always said that he didn’t even want to think about doing anything for the day and that he never liked it. At first Fizz thought it was about overworking himself to get all the sexy toys and other sexy accessories but with Sinsmas he didn’t mind indulging in his Sin then. It didn’t make sense this one day that was about love and all sorts of sexy fun was something that turned him off.
He’d get to the bottom of this.

“Hey Fizzy-frog!” Ozzie smiled, popping his fluffy head out of the elevator.
Fizz, who was playing with Precious, looked up at him with a grin. “Hey Oz!” he greeted, stretching up to give him a kiss. “How was your day?”
“Meetings were boring as fuck but I think we have some new lube flavors on the docket for the spring season,” he told him, jokingly. “Citrus can be a real aphrodisiac…though I doubt anyone would want lemon on their privates so we might stick with orange and lime.”
Fizz laughed as he wrapped his arms around him, letting Ozzie carry him over to the couch. “Ya really get ahead of things, huh,” he commented, twirling a finger through his fluffy mane. “I bet this season’s really busy for ya.”
Ozzie let out a groan as he flopped onto the couch with a moan. “Man, don't even get me started. Orders pile up early and we gotta fill ‘em so they don’t get disappointed. I’ve been workin’ with Bee to get ‘em done but when the motivation’s not there…it’s like trudging through mud,” he told him, surprising the smaller imp.
“How come?” Fizz wondered, surprising the tall Sin. “I remember you saying you don’t like Valentine’s Day and never really questioned it but…I’m curious why. What about it makes you hate it?”
Ozzie glanced at his beloved before sighing heavily. “It just seems kind of…phony to me,” he began, catching Fizz off-guard.
“Wait…really?”
“Yeah. If people want a day as an excuse to get all frisky in the name of love and lust, that’s on them,” he began before turning to Fizz. “But for me, if you love someone, you ought to treat them well every day, not just focus on one day. And a lot of Valentine’s stuff seems really corny, ya know?”
Fizz nodded slowly, understanding his logic in some way. He would sometimes see demons trying to find a partner to spend the day with like it was a requirement. Other times he’d see customers at the shops in Lust trying to make plans and being really stressed out. It almost seemed like a competition to see who could make Valentine’s Day the most special and it makes something that’s supposed to be fun a lot more taxing than it should be.
He even remembered hearing Vortex mention how Beelzebub would be exhausted after working on orders for themed candies and cakes and Lucifer only knows what else. It wasn’t a surprise that she and Vortex would go out to eat so she wouldn't have to cook. The Sin of Gluttony was powerful but even she could get tired.
Deciding to bite the bullet, Fizz took a deep breath. “I get what you’re saying and respect how you feel about Valentine’s Day…but I kinda like the idea,” the smaller imp admitted.
“Ya do?”
“Yeah,” he nodded, petting Precious as he scooped her into his lap. “I get how it can just be stressful and disheartening for some but…I was talking to my family about their favorite Valentine memories and…I kinda felt a little left out.”
Ozzie’s expression softened as he took Fizz’s hand. “Fizzy…I’m sorry,” he whispered.
“I didn’t wanna bug ya about doing something for the day but…I know talking is better than holding it in,” Fizz went on. “Sure it can be sappy but…I kinda like sappy sometimes.”
“Thanks for tellin’ me, Fizzy-frog,” Ozzie replied, pulling him into a hug. “I might not get it entirely but…I wouldn’t judge ya for liking it. If it makes you happy, that makes me happy.”
Fizz smiled as he nuzzled against his chest, his tongue blepping out happily. Maybe it was the romantic in him but something about a special day for love, especially if real thought and care was put behind it. He had one of the most loving partners in Hell that made him feel safe and cared for so he felt really lucky.
“Thanks for listening, Oz…” Fizz whispered.

The next morning Fizz woke up to the smell of strawberry pancakes cooking. Licking his lips, Fizz got out of bed and was shocked to see their kitchen was covered in heart decorations and a sweet smell in the air. Ozzie had just flipped the last pancake in the air and caught it before turning to the smaller demon.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, baby,” Ozzie smiled, putting the plate on the table.
“Oz!” Fizz laughed as he looked around. “What is all this?”
“Well I figured we had some catching up to do with Valentine’s Day fun for you so I wanted to get started early,” the Lust Sin told him, kneeling to his level and taking his hands. “You dealt with my stubborn ass long enough about this so I wanna make it up to you. If this makes you happy, I’ll do my best to give you what you want.”
“Oh Oz…I don’t know what to say…” Fizz whispered, tearing up as he felt Ozzie wipe his face.
“Well I hope you’re hungry,” Ozzie joked. “Got up pretty early to make quite a spread for ya.”
Fizz stretched up to the big table and his eyes widened in pure awe. Pancakes, sunny-side up eggs, sausage links, and a strawberry smoothie with whipped cream and sprinkles were right in front of him. Seeing how he tried to incorporate hearts into everything with the pancakes and eggs being cut into heart shapes and the sausages being arranged into a heart shape was adorable.
“This is so sweet…” Fizz told him before pulling something out from under his hat. “Actually…I was gonna give this to ya anyway but…I hope you like it.”
Ozzie took the card from Fizz, touched he would make him something as he began to read it. “For the Sin that stole my heart,” he read, smiling at Fizz’s blushing face.
When I saw something broken, you kept me together.
When I felt like I wasn’t enough, you raised me up.
When I was scared, you protected me.
When I needed you, you were there.
I love you for the you that saw me when I couldn’t see myself.
I want to be with you forever.
Ozzie felt his eyes start to water as Fizz felt his face burning from embarrassment. He didn’t want to overwhelm Ozzie with something too extravagant and tacky but he didn’t want to be a hypocrite and do something half-assed. So letting his feelings out in one simple sweet card was the best he could do. And if things worked out, next year he would treat his Big Daddy Ozzie to something really special.
“So…too sappy?” Fizz asked shyly, squeaking when he felt Ozzie hold him tight and pepper his face with kisses.
“Sappy my ass; you’re wonderful…” Ozzie laughed through his tears, hugging him close. “You know…I used to think love wasn’t worth much since Lust felt more honest…but you taught me it’s okay to love…I’m proud to say I love you…I don’t care if it means bein’ called a sap. It’s worth it if I get to wake up next to you.”
“Ozzie…I love you so much…” Fizz sniffed, kissing Ozzie one more time before pulling out his phone. “I wanna get a pic of this before tearing it to shreds.”
Ozzie laughed as he saw Fizz stretch out his arm to get a good shot of the two of them and the decorated room and breakfast spread. It would be nice to have something to tell his family the next time he saw them. They could grow closer and learn what makes the other tick with Ozzie opening up about his own views with Love and Lust and Fizz could help explore his sappier side without feeling like a fool.
They could be fools in love together.
