Summary
“You’ll be in the same room as the president, so please be on your best behaviour, Jake,” his best friend and manager, Jay, pleads with him.
Jake stares at him from the mirror, half-offended, half-amused, “I’m always on my best behaviour!”
Which, considering Jay’s impassive stare at his folded skirt and scandalously revealing top, is not the best behaviour at all. But Jake simply hums his new single under his breath and applies gloss on his lips.
“I’m serious,” Jay says again when Jake adjusts his outfit and drapes his cardigan over his dress to complete the look. “He doesn’t tolerate people who look like attention whores.”
Jake clucks his tongue at him, “I’m not an attention whore!”
Except when he sees said president, Jake does turn into a whore.
Or: Jake has a dream to be the best of himself. He strives to be better than he was yesterday and to be as transparent as possible, or at least as much as he can be as an idol. Jake loves his fans, his job, his fame, and his friends. But there is a gaping hole in his chest that remains empty no matter what he does.
