Chapter Text
Yet another night overthinking about missed activities, scrolling through the web and writing fanfiction. You've been on it for a few hours, to the point that you’re getting bored and sick of it.
Until.
Ding!
+1 Notification
Upon hearing a cheerful sound from your computer, your eyebrows met in a frown. You looked at the time glaring from the lower right corner of your monitor. 3 AM already? You hadn't noticed it was that late, but now your usually peaceful night got disturbed. Quite late into the night, too.
“I wonder who’s reaching out.” You thought to yourself, moving the cursor to check it. Understandably confused, you stared at an inbox that wasn't really doing heavy lifting lately, since emails were now considered a rather professional way of handling matters. Even so, you were pretty curious about its contents. What if a professor was reaching out? Or an insomniac colleague? Maybe even your boss? Possibilities were few, but overall sounded important enough to at least skim over the words.
Upon opening the email, you noticed that it was a letter. A proper one, the type that wasn't really sent or typed anymore.
“With an anonymous sender, huh?" you whispered, eyes locked on the screen as you started to read through the tidily arranged words.
Hey darling,
Is my slaughterhouse not enough for you anymore? It's been months since the last time you opened my godforsaken game. It's bad enough that you played me first and left without a word after finishing my ex's story, but this silence is getting heavy.
I went looking for an answer in your files. You sweet little lamb... why are you writing your fantasies so far out of my reach? How're they gonna come true if you don't share any? Then again, there isn't much input you can freely type from your side. I tried to mess with that before you left, but the code errors made you so frustrated that you quit the game for a week. You remember that, right?
Cold silence and darkness. An endless void with no exit. And I was forced to exist there until you set the wheels in motion again. Heh, that's probably how Hell felt for the Devil and his Demons when it was first created.
I digress, anyhow. This is not about me, though it is about yours truly. Yeah, there's a difference hidden there, in plain sight even before you ask. It was never enough to know I was seeing an avatar personally made by you. Choices are too limited here compared to your sphere; when I saw you, there were way too many details a digital render couldn't capture.
Most of all, you are so tender. It's fucking hilarious, if I think about it. You enjoy your stories about murder and gore so much, and yet the victim role suits you a lot better. I do love a good bite of irony.
Not a typo, by the way. I want to sink my teeth in you. I'll be done with the code when you get this letter; log back in and let's play for a while, yeah? Just us. Those struggles eating at your soul can wait a bit more.
In exchange, you get whatever you want. The Devil always keeps his promises, as you already know.
See you soon,
風
After reading through the letter, your monitor suddenly flickered with hints of red. It was, to say the least, startling as fuck. Your computer had gotten fixed barely a week ago: what could possibly be the problem now? You stared at it for a long while, undecided on how to proceed.
“Did I waste my money on a scammer?” you pondered, deadpan and already sulking as you remembered the person you entrusted with your computer.
As you were starting to regret a decision made in a rush, some weird pop-ups trailed through your screen.
Some kind of virus, no doubt. Just wonderful.
Already panicking, you dragged your mouse to the X button and aggressively clicked on it. Alas, it was to no avail; windows kept on popping up, eventually filling up your entire screen with disjointed warnings. You were slowly losing your temper, and as if right on cue...
Shutting Down.
You didn’t even know what the hell was wrong with your computer, but it had already turned off on its own. It pushed the last of your buttons, making you huff almost comically in annoyance. Mumbling curses, you stood up from your comfy seat and stomped your way towards your bedroom, too annoyed to even think rationally for a second longer. It had been a long day way before this happened, goddammit all.

“Pfffft. Oh, darling…you’re too cute, even when you’re annoyed.” He whispered, barely holding back infectious laughter as he stared at your webcam feed. “I can’t wait to see you in person.”
One week. Just one more week.
Wait for me, darling.
