    Summary

"Wow," Kaveh said, as a senior walked by. "Look at that... there's just something about people with long hair."

Alhaitham studied the senior in question. She had hair down to her hips, and was currently laughing with some friends as she pulled it back casually into a ponytail.

Alhaitham then studied Kaveh. Kaveh looked entranced: jaw a little slack; coral eyes wide.

    "You... really like long hair?"

Kaveh startled, blinked. "Yeah, I suppose I do," he said.

Alhaitham studied the flush of Kaveh's cheeks, his unrelenting gaze. "I see," he said.

Alhaitham grows his hair out. He has been growing his hair out since they were students. It falls to his hips in a river of silver and green. Kaveh looks, and looks, and looks.

    Summary

He remained shell shocked all the way back home, staggering slightly. Alhaitham held his elbow.

It was Kaveh who had dragged Alhaitham to Bimarstan for a checkup. Now, their positions were reversed—as if it were Kaveh who was the patient, rather than Alhaitham. Alhaitham's pace was as usual and sedate as always.

As if for Alhaitham, despite the little life in his belly, it was just another day.

For Kaveh, it was as if all of Teyvat had upended, the world spinning on its axis like a top.

Alhaitham is pregnant. Kaveh is anxious. Alhaitham is not... until he is.

    Summary

Alhaitham flees through Dharma Forest, carrying Kaveh's corpse.

It is the height of the dry season, and the heat and humidity of the jungle presses upon Alhaitham like a physical weight. His skin is slick with sweat, every inhale heavy, and even his bones seem like lead.

In his arms, Kaveh is unmoving and still. A given, as he is currently very dead, and yet Alhaitham is unable to suppress the emotional reactions now amplifying his physical discomfort. It is hot, yet his limbs are chilled from fear. His eyes, his chest, his jaw, even his ears hurt, aching with pulsing pain. His heart and mind are at odds with each other: Kaveh will be fine, says his intellect.

Kaveh is dead, cries his fragile, mortal heart. Kaveh is dead!

A human Alhaitham flees pursuit, carrying the remains of his lord in his arms.
