“I Want Blood, Guts, and Chocolate Cake / (I’m Gonna Puke it Anyway)”

Summary:

Sonic never really thought about food much; it was just fuel anyway. So why did it suddenly become all he thought about?

CW: Binge eating disorder and other disordered behaviors.

Notes:

I mainly wrote this because I could find ZERO Sonic fics with B.E.D. !! It’s also been a head canon for me for a while that Sonic binge eats due to lack of impulse control. I greatly appreciate your viewership, as I haven’t written fiction in a really long time. So please pardon mistakes.

The setting is the same as the show except I used Sonic’s house from the comics. It was easier to write with!

Chapter Text

Sonic never thought of food much. It was just for hangouts, after battles, for fun, for energy, just a casual thing in his life. Why would he think anything more? But as Eggman began attacking more and more, and he had to run and fight more and more, his metabolism caught up with him. The fastest thing alive has to eat a lot of course, he has to keep up. On a normal day he would just mindlessly grab a bite or two and move on with life.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t really a rule book on super-sonic-metabolism, so his nutrition was pretty up in the air. By his teens, he just figured he could eat whenever he wanted. It worked for a bit, but once he increasingly used more energy, he had to figure out a plan on when to eat.

One fateful morning, Eggman’s latest invention attacked Hedgehog Village once again. Sonic and the team stepped in as usual, getting civilians out of harm’s way, saving those who couldn’t leave in time, taking down the machine, all the work. Thankfully, not too much damage was affected to the area, despite the difficulty of taking it down.

The team decided to go to their respective homes to freshen up before celebrating the victory. Celebrating somewhere… Sonic couldn’t really remember. He just knew his bandana needed dusted off before it got in his eyes.

Sonic stepped into his shack and headed straight for the kitchen, way hungrier than usual. He opened his cabinets and looked around, ultimately deciding on a sandwich. Just one. But as he made it, he found himself impulsively grabbing four slices of bread rather than two. Okay, that’s fine, two sandwiches. Unusual, but acceptable. Then he grabbed a granola bar, then some more snacks he didn’t even notice he picked out.

What was meant to be a quick bite after a battle became a bit too much. He ate so fast, faster than usual. He had completely zoned out, not even realizing the wrappers left in front of him. By the time he was done stuffing his face, he looked down. Two sandwiches, two granola bars, a small chip bag- Sonic didn’t want to keep counting. He was still standing at the counter, he hadn’t even sat down to eat.

“Okay… that was weird,” he mumbled to himself, quickly shoving the leftovers into the trash. He wasn’t going to think much of it, it was just some food, after all. His metabolism will burn it off anyway.

Then he heard a knock at the door. He had completely forgotten he was supposed to be quick, he just got carried away. His mind scrambled for explanation on what had happened, but ultimately decided to shove it deep inside. He looked down to brush off his hands and noticed his bandana— he hadn’t even done the one thing he went inside to do. He knows he’s forgetful, sure, but this was an anomaly.

“Sonic, are you in there?” Amy shouted through the door, “we’re supposed to meet at Meh Burger!”

Shit. That’s what he forgot. He stared at the door, then glanced at the trash can. All that food and now he has to eat more? How could he have gotten so out of control? No big deal, just act like normal… he thought.

Sonic strided out the door like usual, ignoring the fullness in his stomach. He grabbed a seat at the table, crossing his legs as normal. Tails, Knuckles, and Sticks were already there, impatiently waiting for Sonic and Amy. Sonic smiled sheepishly, not wanting to confess why he was late. Amy ordered for them, knowing the orders by heart.

The food came out hot and fresh– well as fresh as Meh Burger can get. Sonic got a chili dog while everyone else got their burgers. As Sonic started to eat, his stomach twisted in uncomfortable fullness. Everyone else was distracted by their meal to notice Sonic’s flinch and tight expression. He couldn’t let the gang know he ate before, they’d get annoyed. So he kept eating, ignoring his hunger cues begging him to stop.

By the time he tossed his trash away, he felt physically sick. “Uh guys,” Sonic starts, “I think I might go home. For.. uhm… a nap!” He excuses, bolting off to his home. He didn’t look behind him to notice his friends’ confused expressions.

As soon as Sonic made it inside his shack, he ran and gagged over his toilet. He made a disgusted face that he couldn’t decide where it came from: his meal or his secret incident? It didn’t matter once he spit up part of his food, scoffing. He’d eaten past fullness before, but this was just ridiculous.

“Eughh gross! What the hell, man?!” He complained to himself as he stood and wiped his mouth, flushing the evidence away. He glanced in the mirror; he saw his flushed and slightly puffy face. He cringed at the sight. He’s always so keen on his appearance, seeing himself like this was even more pathetic than he already felt.

As he trudged towards his hammock, he tried to forget about everything. Unfortunately, it’s hard to dismiss something when that thing is making you exhausted and sick. He laid down in his pity, staring at his ceiling. Thinking too much about such a small moment.

He decided this would never happen again. It was just one time, he won’t get out of control again. He would’ve never thought how quickly things could go downhill.

  Until it did.

Thanks for reading, feedback appreciated! Chapters won’t be super short once I get a hang of this.
