Act 1: Beginnings
Dai Bo's feet click wetly across the sand as he continues along, the setting sun casts warmth across the beach, ready to give way to the slightly chilled air in the nights. Xiao Fei hops along beside him, a reminder of what has transpired in the past twisting Dai Bo's gut with anger. He pays no mind to the humans around him, seething at a few that turn to stare at them both. The beach, thankfully, seemed empty, but they needed to get onto the walkway soon.
"Come, Xiao Fei," Dai Bo murmurs to the chick, "Let's find somewhere to sleep, yeah?"
Xiao Fei suddenly jumps up and down in a panicked state, pulling Dai Bo into alertness. "Kee! Keke!"
Dai Bo frowns down at him, "What do you mean you see someone hurt?"
Xiao Fei chirps frantically and hops towards the water.
Dai Bo groans, "Xiao Fei! No! Come back-!"
Waddling as fast as he can, he catches up to the energetic chick, where he stops in his tracks. Xiao Fei chirps again, louder and sharper this time. He bounces up and down in front of a strange human floating in the water, a visible stab wound in his chest.
Dai Bo sighs, "Come, Xiao Fei, this is none of our business. He's probably already dead."
Angry, the chick chirps.
Dai Bo looks back, blinking, "Huh? He's still alive?"
Xiao Fei chirps, then hops onto the strange boys' stomach and begins to bounce, healing the boy with qi. He looked no older than... Twenty five, maybe? The traditional, yet modern looking clothing reminds Dai Bo of the news that he secretly watched on the humans' TV. The humans on the screen talked about a war far away from Chicken Island, but this is the first time Dai Bo had seen a casualty from it. The chest plate strapped to the boy is broken beyond repair. When Dai Bo looks, underneath is a well placed strike that goes through and through. Red leaks onto the sand below the boy, some of it washed away by the salt water, forcing Dai Bo to pull the boy onto the sand so he wouldn't float away again. Xiao Fei still heals him in spurts, chirping angrily at Dai Bo.
"Kid, I'm not helping some human-"
"Keee! Kekekekek!"
Dai Bo pinches his beak, heaving a sigh. "Fine! I could probably use him anyway. I doubt he'd be returning to where he came from anytime soon."
Dai Bo hauls the boy, who was surprisingly not so heavy across the beach.
"Keke!"
"Fine. If he kills us, I doubt anyone will host our funeral anyways."

The Miracle Doctor wasn't as far away as Dai Bo thought he was. The chicken waits outside the sliding doors, a news article in hand. He ruffles through it frantically, until he finds the correct page.
XUANWU INSURGENTS VS STAN: WHO WILL WIN?
Dai Bo reads the passage, his eyes scanning for anything to give him a clue.
'Recent reports from Stan indicate that the next generation of the insurgency against Stan that has been fighting for nearly ten years has been spotted in the ruins of northern Xuanwu. They suspect the insurgents had been hiding near the Plum Blossom Villa, where Stan refuses to attack...'
Dai Bo puts down the paper as he turns towards the sliding doors as they open. The doctor holds up a radio and presses play.
"He's stabilized for now, he had multiple injuries to his body and a fractured bone in his leg. Keep him off of it for a few weeks until his cast can come off. I'll discuss details in the morning. His clothes are sitting to the side, but the technology he had on him is broken beyond repair."
Dai Bo waves the doctor off, hopping off his seat and standing. "Eh, he'll be alright. Is he awake yet?"
The doctor shakes his head, clicking the radio on again, "Not yet, but he should by the morning. I also supplied him with shorts and a shirt I had laying around. He should be able to fit in them."
Dai Bo nods sharply to the doctor and walks inside anyways, the newspaper still clutched in hand. Xiao Fei warbles and follows along, hopping up onto the bed beside the stranger. The boy looked more... Frail up close. Dai Bo notes the old scars littering his body, sitting on top of newer purple bruises and more recent, fresh slices to paled skin. Even though the boys' chest is wrapped in bandages, Dai Bo could still see where his ribs poked out from underneath.
That didn't sit right with Dai Bo. His heart twists.
He knows the war was bad and was still ongoing, but not this bad. Dai Bo clasps his hands behind him, then settles down at the end of the bed for the night, watching the boys' chest rise and fall slowly.
He'd ask questions later.
Right now, the kid needs rest.

When morning comes, Dai Bo is slowly pulled from his sleep when he hears a sharp chirp and the slide of metal against something else. He becomes very alert and oriented when his vision clears from sleep to stare at a glowing purple blade at his neck, letting out a startled squawk. The boy no longer looked frail, he looked terrifying, his face pulled into a snarl like a wild animal. Sharp, bright red eyes bore into Dai Bo's, the boy kneeling in the middle of the bed with Xiao Fei clutched in his other hand. Xiao Fei warbles at Dai Bo that the boy had just woken up and wasn't understanding where he was. Dai Bo snaps back to the human in front of him when he speaks.
The boys' voice cracks, coming out soft, yet still menacing. "Who are... You?"
Dai Bo squawks in anger this time, clearly without thinking, "I could ask you the exact same thing! Put down Xiao Fei-"
Dai Bo nearly chokes when the blade is pressed into his neck more. Dai Bo feels a slight trickle of blood seeping from the tiny scratch.
Dai Bo panics, "Wait, wait, wait! My name is Dai Bo! I saved you at the beach!"
The boy pauses, his thick brows furrowing into a frown on his otherwise stoic face. Dai Bo blinks as the blade slowly pulls away from his neck, and he sighs in relief. The boy looks around him, then back at Dai Bo.
"Where am I?"
Dai Bo answered slowly, "You are on an island far away from both Xuanwu and Stan. It's called Chicken Island."
The boy mumbles, "Seven."
Dai Bo chokes on his words nervously, "S-seven what?"
The boy turns sharply back to Dai Bo. "My name. It's Seven."
Dai Bo nods slowly as Seven places Xiao Fei in front of Dai Bo, the chick chirps and turns around, hopping back towards the boy in front of him. Seven holds up his hands, then scoots far across the bed until he's standing with his casted leg still on the edge of the bed. He hadn't seemed to notice it yet, so Dai Bo was about to warn him when Seven sharply turns around, slamming the cast into the ground. Dai Bo flinches when he hears a sharp cry and the sound of a body collapsing to the floor. Dai Bo scrambles to the edge to look over the bed, sweatdropping at the kid who now lays face down on the floor, his casted leg sticking up in the air, his arms splayed out as if he tried to catch himself.
Seven whines in a strained voice, "Oooww..."
Dai Bo blinks, calling down to the kid in a high pitched voice, "Y-you okay down th-there?"
Seven slowly lifts his head to groan, "I think my body betrayed me too."
Then he flops his face back into the ground. Dai Bo watches Seven shift, slowly sitting up against the bed. Placing a hand over his chest, Seven looks up at Dai Bo.
"You rescued me?"
Dai Bo crosses his arms, "What was left of you."
Dai Bo nods in a direction and Seven follows, his eyes landing on his clothes that were neatly folded on a bedside table, his chest plate, arm guards and leg guards lay separate beside them. Seven shifts back up, mindful of his hurt leg, hopping on one foot to the table and rummages through his stuff. Seven already had his dagger in his hand, but he placed it down. Dai Bo was able to get a better look at the equipment that had been strapped to Seven, a deep set frown forming on the chicken's face. The chest plate is, of course, mechanical in nature, black with purple accents running along the edges around it. The plating seemed to be able to shift, as if it were able to meld with Seven's body. The arm guards were of similar nature, made of metal, blackened and accented with purple. Seven then pulls out a mask and a token from underneath all of it. The mask was much more detailed, black again, but this time the white symbol of the Shadow Killer League is painted on its surface, the eye holes were sharpened and purple around the edges like eyeliner. The token was interesting, too, but before Dai Bo could see any more, he was startled from looking when the boy spoke.
"If you tell anyone about this," Seven states quietly, "I will hunt you down myself after we part and I will have chicken soup for dinner."
Dai Bo squirms back beside Xiao Fei, gulping. He watches Seven lay his eyes on another pile of clothes, then down to his new shorts.
"... I suppose these will do." Seven looks back up at Dai Bo, snagging the white tank top first, slipping it on. "You've been courteous enough. Goodbye."
Dai Bo blinks. Wait, what?
"Uh, what about your-!"
Dai Bo raises an eyebrow when the boy, who had seemingly forgotten about the cast again places his foot down and buckles back to the floor in a kneeling position, grabbing at the cast with a sharp hiss.
Dai Bo finishes his sentence with a sigh. "-Leg."
Seven huffs, falling back against the side of the bed, shifting his injured leg straight, glaring at it. The chicken hops down beside Seven, along with Xiao Fei. The smaller chicken warbles at the stranger and hops into his lap.
Dai Bo yelps, "Xiao Fei, no!"
Seven recoils, his hands immediately pushing Xiao Fei away. The chick rolls, getting snatched up into Dai Bo's arms. Seven glares at them both.
"Listen here," Seven snarls, "You may have saved me, but that doesn't mean we are friends."
"Ke."
Dai Bo groans, "No, Xiao Fei that is not an invitation-"
Seven was about to ask what the hell the chicken said, but he's cut off when the doctor pulls back the curtain and steps forward. Then, the doctor hands Dai Bo a slip of paper.
"Huh? What's thiiiiIIIIIIIS?! ONE MILLION YUAN?!"
Dai Bo chokes, then turns slowly toward Seven, who sweatdrops. Not only had Seven put these chickens at risk, but he's also put them in debt now, it seems. They also didn't look like they had a million yuan laying around.
... Seven couldn't just leave, either. He groans.
"Fine, " Seven snaps at Xiao Fei, "I'll stay for now. Where to after this?"
