Chapter 1: Knocking is a Virtue: Normal Tuesday Night for Remedy and Anaxa

Chapter Text

"I like it when you're like this..." Remedy said, adoration clear in his voice. "You're so pretty when you're flustered, professor..." His grip on Anaxa's coat tightened as he obnoxiously rubbed his head against his shoulder.

Anaxa held Remedy on his lap, hands on his waist. Did he plan
to have a full on makeout session with his boyfriend in his office? No, but he wasn't upset about the sudden change in events. After all, he too was enjoying the view.

Remedy's bandages were nowhere to be seen. His eyes were exposed, allowing Anaxa to admire them in their entirety. Remedy's eyes were a deep, bloody shade of red. His lashes were a dark rosy pink and his sclera were bloodshot. Though he knew the rather odd effect the veterinarians eyes had on normal humans, he was far from such. He was a chrysos heir, the demigod of reason, and staring into those endlessly deep eyes gave Anaxa a high like no other.

Anaxa lifted one of his hands, gently entangling it in Remedy's pink, curly hair before tugging gently. "Look at me," He said.

Remedy lifted his head up to face Anaxa, but still was avoiding eye contact. Anaxa shook his head. "Look at me," He said again, firmer this time.

As Remedy's eyes met his, Remedy let out a soft, nervous laugh. He wasn't any less flustered than Anaxa was. Both of them were nervous and bright red, but they were enjoying their time together regardless, even if they were both completely inexperienced.

Anaxa cupped Remedy's cheek again, gently caressing his face. He smiled as he watched Remedy melt under him.

"I love you," Remedy said as he tilted his head, leaning into Anaxa's touch.

"You're adorable," Anaxa replied, pulling Remedy into another deep, drawn out kiss.

"I could become accustomed to you as well," He teased after the had broke apart. Remedy frowned and rolled his eyes.

"You're so mean to me," He said before he giggled, not being able to take himself seriously.

Remedy leaned in for another kiss and Anaxa gladly gave him what he wanted. He held Remedy close, like the boy's fragile heart would shatter into pieces if he let go.

After Remedy pulled away, he laughed again. Both of them were completely drunk off each other's love.

Anaxa knew what love did to reason, it corroded it. He knew what Remedy would say about it. "Love makes you go a little bonkers cuz of a chemical cocktail of feel good hormones your body releases in response!" Sweet, adorable Remedy. Though he may be a bit of an airhead, he was still skilled in his own areas. Remedy. Remedy. Remedy. Anaxa couldn't think about anything else than Remedy. That stupid, adorable boy who was absolutely obsessed with him. Love had muddled his mind, and despite what Anaxa wanted to believe, he wasn't immune to its effects as well.

That's probably why the pairs situational awareness was so bad in the moment. So bad in fact that neither of them noticed the familiar voice of a certain deliverer calling for his professor from behind the door.

"Professor Anaxa, I was wondering if—"

Poor Remedy instantly panicked, yelping from the surprise as he quickly removed himself from Anaxa's lap. Apparently it was too quick, as he fell on the floor as soon as his feet hit the ground. He seemed to decide that losing a fight with gravity and remaining on the floor was the best course of action to avoid embarrassment.

Anaxa was doing no better. He looked both pissed off and shocked. He had no time to regain his composure either. His cheeks were still flushed red and his hair was messy from where Remedy had entangled his hands in it. He closed his eye as he folded his hands and placed them on the desk, attempting to look presentable.

"—Oh gods! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you professor Anaxa..." Phainon quickly said. "And... Remedy?" He questioned.

"Go. Away!" Remedy shouted in response, still refusing to come up from the floor.

Anaxa cleared his throat. "Phainon, what is it that you need?" He asked, the irritation still recognizable in his voice.

"Oh— Well... I think I can just ask Castorice instead..." Phainon replied, purposefully avoiding eye contact.

"Well if you don't have any further questions—" Anaxa began before being cut off.

"Then you should go away!" Remedy finished.

"I am going to have to agree with what Remedy is requesting," Anaxa said as politely as he could. It was times like this where he was thankful that Remedy had no filter or desire to remain professional. At least someone would be able to get the point across.

"Right... Well then... I'll be going!" Phainon said not bothering to turn his back to the current situation. Instead, he walked backwards into the doorframe once before finally managing to leave. He shut the door rather quickly, desperate to leave this experience behind.

Anaxa sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before turning his chair, looking down at where Remedy had made himself at home under his desk.

"Are you ok, doctor?" He asked, offering his hand to help Remedy up.

Remedy shook his head. He managed to loosely get his bandages back on and was now hugging his legs to his chest.

"Nuh uh, I think I'm fine down here," He said in response.

Anaxa sighed, knowing that there would be no changing his mind. "Well, are you hurt anywhere?" He asked.

"I'm probably gonna be sore for a couple of days but hey, if I'm gonna get my ass kicked I might as well do it myself," The vet replied.

Anaxa groaned in response. Sometimes he did wish that Remedy had the capacity to take things seriously.

Meanwhile, Phainon was relaying his world changing discoveries to Castorice.

"I knew it, I knew those two had something going on!" He proudly exclaimed.

"I can't say I'm surprised myself, Doctor Remedy made no effort to hide his feelings for the professor," she replied.

"Well that was obvious, even Mydei could pick up on that, but Professor Anaxa reciprocating his feelings? He thought I was crazy but I was right!" Phainon happily said.

"So does this mean that you have won the wager you told me about?" Castorice asked.

Phainon simply smiled in response.
