    He had always been doubtful about the future. About the type of responsibility his powers came with, and the type of man he wanted to become. He had always trusted in you, the words awkward on his mouth when you told him you were scared of what might come next.

    Though those words didn’t seem to matter when his powers got developed enough. He didn’t hold back when he fought against his father, smearing his blood on his hands, squeezing the heart between his fingers. You had seen it on the news some months ago, and you thought maybe he could change.
