“Did you hear? Inspector Li was seen outside of Commandant Fan’s rooms half undressed the other day!”
“What? That can’t be right! There’s no way he-“
“No, no, no! My brother’s friend’s cousin was walking past her room that day and saw it with his own eyes, his inner most robe was half off and his hair was down.
“No man of Inspector Li’s station would be seen in that kind of state unless he was dead or dying, your brother was absolutely lying”
“Don’t call my brother a liar! Besides, he said that Inspector Li was kneeling in that state and presenting something to Commandant Fan.”
“Wha- Commandant Fan didn’t come out and greet him while he was like that right?!”
“But she did! She took whatever he was holding and then passionately threw it to the ground. He didn’t dare stay to see anything else after that,”
“The two of them must be very close if they were willling to see each other in such states.”
“I bet it was a marriage proposal. It would only be right! Only a man like Inspector Li could be a good match for a woman of Commandant Fan’s caliber”
“What nonsense are you speaking now? Don’t you know that he is engaged to the Grand Princess? Commandant Fan could never marry properly into his house. Not to mention she already has a husband.”
“I’ve heard rumor that the Grand Princess is going to be engaged to another soon and that husband of Commandant Fan’s died on the mountain. She fought to get meat from the enemy so she could make him a good final meal to send him off.”
“Aiyah! You and your gossip, your going to cause problems soon, just you wait. Just watch as I do nothing when punishment finally finds you, you fool.”
